Latest arrivals:
Image
GYZE - Black Bride
人間椅子 (Ningen-Isu) - 二十世紀葬送曲
人間椅子 - 羅生門
人間椅子 - 黄金の夜明け
人間椅子 - 桜の森の満開の下
人間椅子 - 人間失格

That leaves 2 missing Ningen-Isu CDs now, which I'm gonna wait until they get reissued (they both go for around $100+ atm). I like Ningen-Isu enough to buy 17 CDs of theirs, but not enough to drop $100+ for a CD. :P

Ya. 007 is correct. And yes the info out there is terribly non existent but that's because there's only 500 copies ever made (originals anyways) and it cam out close to twenty years ago.

Well it was $100 USD so only like €90

For that kind of $$ you'd better get free shipping! (Or at least ask for it :oh shit: )

For that kind of money you'd be better served with (at least) registered shipping. But enough derailing already.

Will someone please update the album entry on Discogs? Even the cover photo is wrong, that red front cover isn't the actual thing. Oh yeah, I'm looking at you EOH. :p

I'd love to! But alas I can not, my PC has been banned from discogs :panda:. I have no idea what's wrong but whenever I try to use it from my PC I get 403'd but I can use it from my phone and log into my account  :crash:

Here's some pictures for you dread:

Got a few in the mail today:

Death - Leprosy (2Cd Relapse Reissue) [replaced the Icarus one I had.]
Vital Remains - Forever Underground [another replacement cd]
Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells (Single)
Morta Skuld - Dying Remains (2013 Peaceville Reissue)

On the way:

Autopsy - Ridden With Disease [yet another replacement]
Autopsy - Severed Survival (2cd) [replacement]
Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence (Hammerheart Reissue)
Banished - Deliver Me Unto Pain
Excruciate - Passage Of Life (2014 Konqueror Records Reissue)

Really excited about picking that Banished album up for a decent price.

Nevermore - Dead Heart in a Dead World

Death - Symbolic

Revamp (2 albums) - Wild Card, Revamp
Not the best instrumentally, but I want to support the band and Floor in particular.

Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful (preorder)
Guilty pleasure. One of the only bands that go for a soft sound yet still keep my interest.

Non-metal pre orders:
Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Delta Rae - After It All

Yup. February was a pretty soft (and broke) month for me.

Anyways, here's some shit I picked up in the past month:

Brutality - Screams of Anguish
Control Denied - The Fragile Art of Existence
D.R.I. - Definition
Death - Spiritual Healing
Deicide - Deicide
Deicide - Legion
Deicide - Serpents of the Light
Descendents - I Don't Wanna Grow Up
Fear - The Record
God Macabre - The Winterlong...
My Dying Bride - As the Flower Withers
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose the Swans
Uriah Heep - ...Very 'eavy ...Very 'umble (it's the US version of their debut, but it was marketed as a self-titled)

I find it interesting you got the U.S. version. Are you a Uriah Heep completist or something? I got the ...Very 'eavy... Very 'umble remaster a year or two ago and it's pretty good. I really like Walking in Your Shadow but every time I listen to it I have to turn it up on that song because the guitar sounds too quiet compared to Gypsy, the previous song.

That's just the production.. I've got the original LP and it sounds like that. The US version has a slightly different track list too, I think they swapped one song around for another or something like that. They should just do "complete" version, just like AC/DC fucked up their remasters by using the US versions, especially criminal considering that they omitted "Jailbreak" from Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and that's the best song on the damn album :grr:

No, I'm not a Uriah Heep completionist, that's just the version I happened to come across at the record store. I actually saw another version at a different store with the original title and album cover, but it was packaged in one of those CD cases that are supposed to look like mini-LP sleeves, and I'm not crazy about those. I wanted a jewel case copy.

And yeah, the US version swapped the song Lucy Blues with another song called Bird of Prey. Later reissues have the original tracklist and Bird of Prey as one of several bonus tracks.

True, good that they had the common sense to put everything in one package. Those mini-LP sleeves do suck, unless it's from Japan - those ones usually have an extra disc-sleeve with plastic lining so it doesn't get all scuffed up from the cardboard.

Lousy producer. The guitar is the best part of that song, and he turns it way down. I wonder if it was one of those producer-who-doesn't-have-a-clue-about-heavy-music-produces-heavy-band situations.

Wow, sounds like you got good record stores to go to. I had to go online to find my copy of VEVU, and even then the version I got seemed to be FAR more readily available online then the s/t version. And you went to a couple stores in person that combined had both? God damn.

But I can understand why you wanted the jewel case over the mini-LP sleeve. I hate those too. Luckily, mine happens to be jewel case.

haha, according to the sleeve the producer was "Gerry Bron for Hit Record Productions Limited".. yeah pretty safe to say it's some random studio rat who didn't give a shit and thought he could turn them into the next Beatles.

Plus, it was released in 1970. That's the same year Black Sabbath started releasing albums. Suffice to say, I think the world was equally unprepared for Uriah Heep as they were for Black Sabbath.

Also, there's this lovely quote from the Wikipedia page:
Quote:
The album was generally panned by the mainstream critical press upon its release, although it has since been acknowledged as an early classic of the heavy metal genre. The harshest critic was Rolling Stone magazine reviewer, Melissa Mills, who began her review, "If this group makes it I'll have to commit suicide. From the first note you know you don't want to hear any more."

I wonder if she followed through with that claim :finger:

Was that blurb about Sabbath or Heep? I actually have no idea if Heep "made it" or not. I mean I know they made a zillion albums throughout the years, even very recently, but they're really not remembered these days except by people who really like to dig in to 70s hard rock.

It was about Uriah Heep. I suppose everyone's got their definition of "making it", but Demons and Wizards sold over 3 million copies worldwide, so even if the band never reached Kiss status, that's gotta count for something.

Foreigner - The Best of Foreigner 4 and More

I've never really listened to Foreigner before and I like Kelly Hansen, so I figured I'd pick this up. I'm liking it so far.

Corrosion of Conformity - Blind (1st press)

This is one of my favourite albums ever and one of the first tapes I ever got, very nostalgic album to me that one.
The newer reissue with the bonus songs just doesn't sound right!

At least they left a nice long gap so you have plenty of time to eject the disc before they even start.. I don't mind the remastering either, original CD actually sounded a bit sibiliant and muddy to my ears. The newer one is punchier without being smashed.

This week's pickups/orders:

Anthrax - Spreading the Disease
Morgoth - Cursed
Grave - Into the Grave
Metallica - S&M
My Dying Bride - Like Gods of the Sun
Tristania - Beyond the Veil
Down - II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow
The Exploited - Fuck The System
Absu - Barathrum V.I.T.R.I.O.L.
Sacramentum - Far Away From the Sun

..and a few more:

Nargaroth - Herbstleyd
Nargaroth - Rasluka part II
Covenant - Nexus Polaris

Just had my new order arrive from Season of Mist, with the following:

Beyond Creation - Earthborn Evolution (Digipak CD + T-shirt)
Deathspell Omega - Si Monumentum requires, Circumspice
Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse (20th Anniversary re-release by Candlelight Records)

Had been wanting to get all of those for a while now, only recently got around to actually making the order.

DARKTHRONE: Panzerfaust (re-release with bonus commentary disc)
DARKTHRONE: Transilvanian Hunger (digibook re-release with bonus commentary disc)
MARILYN MANSON: The Pale Emperor (digipak with bonus tracks)
DEVILMENT: The Great And Secret Show (with bonus tracks)
EMPEROR: IX Equilibrium (re-release with bonus tracks and computer feature)
SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA: The Corruption Of Mercy (with slipcase)
DIMMU BORGIR: Abrahadabra

I've gotta say that I can't understand for the life of me how come "Abrahadabra" was pretty much panned by most reviewers here on the archives. I personally think it's an excellent album... *shrugs*

I wasn't planning on picking up the Devilment album, but I decided to hear a few seconds off a few tracks in the shop and took it home, so it was almost like a blind purchase. Boy am I glad I did! Really good Extreme Gothic Metal. I'd been looking for a long time for something similar to Moonspell's "Alpha Noir" and think I've found it with this album. By why isn't this band on the archives?

Lastly, a funny (and cool!) thing: when I was shelling out the cash, the girl at the cash register looked at was I purchasing and was like "Dude, this is all great music!" :D

I haven't heard the music, but it's a weird album title too. I hate it when the glare from the sun shines on my TV and makes it so I can't see what's on the screen! :grr:

That Allegiance album is killer. One example of thrash where ultra-clean, almost sterile production is actually a good thing.

My thrash goodie arrived today:

Mottek - Fatal Violence cd

Most I have ever paid for a cd, still a bargain considering and its absolutely mint (well aside from the tiny indents on the booklet from the case).

Nice stuff you got there kyzanar. How much did those Protector albums cost you? The ones I've seen for sale on Discogs run a pretty hefty price.

Also jealous of that Infernal Majesty and Messiah.

Gerry Bron was the founder/owner of Bronze Records.

Gerry Bron was the founder/owner of Bronze Records.

Nope, I had no idea. All I know of that label is they released VEVH and a few of Motorhead's earlier albums. That said, it wasn't necessarily him who flubbed the mix on that song, it was probably the mixdown engineer. Producers often get too much credit (or blame) for the sound of a recording when a lot of the time they have little or no input into the final sound.

My trip to the post office today resulted in:

Image
Negură Bunget - Tău
A Forest of Stars - A Shadowplay for Yesterdays (Double Lp)
A Forest of Stars - Beware the Sword You Cannot See (Double Lp)
And some stuff to put out my thirst!
