That is indeed an awesome haul, all from the same seller? Lucky you :D

@ Calhoun: I would concentrate on trying to find that Diabolical Summoning for a decent price first... Not too many people selling that one off, and if you do find someone, they will know what it's worth :p The Hate cd you can find pretty easily for a somewhat affordable price (15-20 euro's). Still ok price for a 20yr ( o_0 ) old cd...

Well, even Diabolical Summoning sometimes sells for 10-15 Euros (more often around 30 Euros but with patience and luck you should be able to get it definitely for 15 Euro). A realistic price for "Hate" should be between 5 and 10 Euro, above that it is totally overpriced in my opinion.

Late night order of barely recognizable death metal:

Diskord - Oscillations
Obliteration - Black Death Horizon

Abominatrix has been recommending Obliteration for awhile now and I just checked them out tonight. The title track killed, looking forward to hearing the rest. Obliteration is a little more recognizably death metal than most of this stuff I've been looking for, but the off-kilterness is there I believe. Diskord was mentioned by a friend awhile back when we were discussing stuff like Tribulation/Morbus Chron/Emptiness. A little more spazzy and less thoughtful but I enjoy something about the punky standoffishness and organic sound. I figured a 25 minute EP is a great vehicle for this sort of thing.

Edit: If anyone else knows of stuff like this I'm all ears. The "holy grail" for me would be something that sounds very near to The Formulas of Death but with a shorter run time. I still worship that album, just don't often have the time or motivation to sit through the whole thing. Can't wait to find out what the new one sounds like. I'm expecting softer.

Edit edit: Well hello there, Howls of Ebb...

Obliteration, Aura Noir and Faustcoven all have a similar kind of vibe/feel for me, all 3 bands are wicked and get the repeat play treatment here for sure :nods:

I had Cruachan - Blood for the Blood God in the mail a few days ago. A pity it wasn't released earlier in 2014, it would have ranked high in my List of the Year.

Seconding these recs, maybe aside from Faustcoven. What Faustcoven does should work in theory. Problem is that the end result is supremely boring.

On topic:

A few days ago I visited my local record store again. I did what I usually do and look through the used vinyl bin. So I scored:

* Hellion - The Black Book
* Axe Witch - Hooked on High Heels
* Demon - The Unexpected Guest
* Savage Grace - The Dominatress

All of which were reasonably priced.

They also had Evil Invaders and Executioner's Song by Razor. But those were really expensive, so my economy didn't allow me to get them.

Other than general "wickedness" I'm not sure what similar thread is running between those three bands. I'm already a Faustcoven fan though, have their last two albums. To me they just sound like Sabbath dressed up as a black metal band. That probably sounds negative but I think it kind of rules. I wish the most recent album had a few more uptempo bits though. They rule at those. Barbarian Assault for example.

Why the fuck don't I own any Aura Noir though? I used to be a black/thrash obsessive. I'm gonna revisit them and see what's what.

That's a solid haul Cry! That Savage Grace EP isn't quite as good as the full length, but what is, really? Speed metal fucking bliss. I dig that the EP has a little more nwobhm swagger though.

Yeah. Savage Grace is something else entirely.

I've seen both full lengths of Savage Grace in the same store as well in the past. After the Fall from Grace i bought, but Master of Disguise was way too expensive. The Dominatress however, was available for a reasonable price.

That record store has a way to always keep me coming back next month when I get paid. There's always something there that I keep being bummed out by because I couldn't get it last month. So I always come back to see if it's still there.

Sometimes it is, but there's always more stuff among the used vinyls that wasn't there last time. A lot of the times I find something else and don't even get what I actually came back for. This time I came back to see if the Axe Witch LP I ignored the month before was still there. I ended up actually getting it this time though.

Next month though, I have a feeling I'll have to go back and see if these two are still there:

Ah I was a fan of All for One once, but I hardly ever return to it anymore. It's a really "solid" album if you know what I mean. They don't do anything wrong, but it's just not as untamed and wild as the two before it. I need my Raven to sound like they're teetering on the brink of collapsing in on themselves! Luckily for them, they always wrote killer midpaced riffs too. I just don't want a whole album of it.

Well yeah I understand your point. My personal favourite Raven is probably Wiped Out, but that one I already have. Still think All For One is quality though. Definitely worth getting and reasonably priced.

Plus there's that certain feeling of browsing through a bin of used records, not knowing what you'll find. It's something Discogs just cannot replace. I'm willing to pay a small amount extra (as in, physical shops do set their prices slightly higher than sellers on discogs) just for that feeling.

The Crown - Death Is Not Dead (limited edition with bonus tracks). This one has some great songs and a few more mediocre songs. The production could have been beefier but it's really growing on me. The cover art is atrocious however.

Mysticum - Planet Satan (mediabook). This cover however is awesome! And the album is great, especially Lucifer in the Skies with Demons.

This is my final haul before moving into my new apartment.

Nice! Mercenary is usually considered as the least awesome BT album, but it is one of my favourites.
