What I would have done is put all the iffy ones together in one group and spoilered that one only ;)

Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer re-issue.

These guys were the shit. Top quality doom with some of the best harsh vocals I've ever heard in metal.

On my vacation day in Chicago I picked up

Atomizer - Caustic music for the spiritually bankrupt (don't know what to expecr. 3 dollars, black/thrash from hell headbangers, it should be fine!)
sigh - imaginary sonicscape (what the fuck are these guys. Fantastic hodgepodge of genres. Their best album easily.)
xasthur - subliminal genocide (slam/brutal is made fun of for breebree, xasthur is made fun of the wall of reverbed noise. Xasthur is xasthur. I.e. complete brilliance. The mood is set and I love it.)
wolves in the throne room - diadem of 12 stars (can't believe I found this for a good price. I got it for 20 instead of the normal 40 to 50 people charge. This one is actual black metal if I remember correctly, also sets a wonderful mood)

That Atomizer album sounds quite a bit different than their earlier material. If you don't like it, don't give up on them. Check out The Only Weapon of Choice. It's by far one of my favorite black/thrash albums.

Nice! Some of the nastiest doom ever. I really like the story in the booklet from Chris Dodge about the reaction to him putting their LP out on his powerviolence label.

Pretty big mix of metal and non-metal lately:
CDs:
Confessor - Condemned (Very glad to see this reissued, absolutely mental drumming.)
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Slayer - Divine Intervention (that's as far as I'll go...)
Mastodon - Remission
Coalesce - Give Them Rope
Canvas - Canvas (Killer 90's metalcore with screechy vox.)
Hatebreed - Perseverance
New Order - Low Life
Morrissey - Vauxhall and I
Morrissey - Your Arsenal
Depeche Mode - Violator

Vinyl:
Soft Cell - Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret
Soft Cell - The Art of Falling Apart
Pet Shop Boys - Actually
Pet Shop Boys - Introspective
Emmylou Harris - Elite Hotel

Their earlier material is absolutely savage and pretty straight to the point, while the last album was a bit experimental and felt somewhat restrained. It has more clean guitar lines and clean vocals.

Yeah, I just listened to part of it and I hated it haha. It doesn't know what it wants to be and it definitely isn't the black thrash I wanted.

Venom - From The Very Depths
Scanner - The Judgement
Sorcerer - In The Shadow Of The Inverted Cross

No real surprises from Venom - uncomplicated gritty metal that they've churned out for 30+ years. Still got a soft spot for them though.

Scanner deal in pretty standard speed/heavy metal but not a bad effort. Might grow on me.

I bought Sorcerer as I heard a bit of classic Candlemass in there. Now I've heard the album a few times I hear more Headless Cross era Sabbath. Still waiting for something to fill the Candlemass sized whole in my life. Oh well guess I'll keep on looking.

Disma - Towards the Megalith (2015 reissue which I'd heard nothing about until I was in the process of ordering the new Abyssal from Profound Lore)
Obsequiae - Aria of Vernal Tombs
Macabre Omen - Gods of War-At War
Abyssal - Antikatastaseis (even better than I'd imagined, balancing out the churning chthonic madness with actual melodic, "pretty" passages that aren't too dissimilar to post-rock; fucking huge album)

Apparently digis are all the rage this year.

I also just got two of those Vlad Tepes reissues from Hooded In Oil which is having some kind of sale.

I also bought Antikatastaseis recently after hearing it on Spotify. What a crushing album! And good buy on Towards the Megalith, it's easily one of the best modern death metal releases in my opinion. What's new on the reissue?

Here's my latest haul:

Vampire Squid - Nautilus World (this band is awesome, haha).
Abyssal - Antikatastaseis (digipak, as I said it's great)
Full of Hell - Full Of Hell & Merzbow (2 cd digipak, I never heard Full of Hell before but this release is stellar)
Bell Witch - Four Phantoms (digipak, stone me into the doom :metal: :headbang: )

Can't wait to get them in the mail.

Two bonus tracks, "And the Dawn of Life Arises" and "Unwept in Oblivion." The latter is from the Convulse split (though I don't know the history of the track; according to this site, the track on the split is an alternate mix and mastering -- alternate to what, I dunno). No idea where the other song is from either. I need to brush up on my Disma history. To be honest I'm not even sure I've listened to the bonus tracks. I just keep playing the album proper over and over.

That's awesome, I need me some new Disma. Maybe I'll buy the reissue just to get the bonus tracks!

Latest arrivals:

Image

Novela (progressive rock) - Novela
Novela - Sanctuary
Novela - In The Night
Manilla Road - Blessed Curse/After The Muse
Tau Cross - Tau Cross
Supuration - Reveries
Pain Of Salvation - Falling Home [digipack]
Circus Maximus - Nine [Japanese pressing]
Kas Product (new wave) - Ego Eye [reissue]
Thousand Excaliver (melodeath) - Sailing Your Dream [single]
Luxion (J-Pop/J-Rock) - Luxion [single]

Slight clusterfuck of an order. Novela is the one I'm looking forward to playing the most. Manilla Road and Pain of Salvation were long overdue. The only two albums I've heard in advance are KaS Product (decline from their first 2 albums) and Circus Maximus, so there should be some surprises here.

Blackmetal.com is having a clearance sale, in which I got a couple CDs, + 1 more for free:

Spoiler: show
Image

Cauldron Born - ...And Rome Shall Fall. This one cost me $16.66. If I remember correctly, the regular price was something like $37
Curse/Sykdom - In Life & Death/Verden og Fanden (split). This was the free one, don't care about it.
Las Cruces - Ringmaster. I got this for $6.66. I can't remember the regular price, but I think it was either $9.99 or $16.66.

Some time ago, I ordered an autographed used copy of Ringmaster from another store online, and the CD arrived broken, which I was refunded for. Pic below, which I posted in this thread already when it happened:

Spoiler: show
Image

So this new one replaces the broken one, which I was able to do for quite cheap. Though there is a problem. The broken one with the autographed booklet is the 1999 Gutter issue, while the one I just got is the 1998 Brainticket original. So the autograph and the disc don't match up with each other in terms of editions. So I'm going to keep both booklets with the in tact disc and original tray card, with the autograph facing up when the case is closed. If I decided to sell it, I'll include both booklets that way.

My local just had a huge influx of used metal, but my funds are low as it stands, so I only got 4

Nasum - Human 2.0 (Fuck, Nasum can do no wrong)
Nasum - Inhale/Exhale (FUCK, NASUM CAN DO NO FUCKING WRONG!)
Shining - IX - Everyone, everything, everywhere, ends (Haven't listened to it, but their style of DSBM has always clicked with me)
Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy (I listened to None So Vile whole for the first time and I hate myself, so I'm making it up by getting the rest of their discography [Besides the unspeakable album])

Holy god. Is that album so hard to find these days? I absolutely adore it, but for 37 bucks I would expect the drums to be re-recorded on actual drums. Still, I'm glad you were able to snag a copy. It's way more muscular than their debut, but it's still a borderline masterpiece even with a totally awful digital drum sound. Howie just knows exactly the kind of riffs and lyrics I want to hear. Finder of the Black Stone!!

Discogs has it for prices much more reasonable than $37, but I don't know about getting it new. But I'll certainly take the sale price of $16.66 with the cheap shipping I paid. :D

Nice stuff Lions Den! I always feel Benediction is a bit underrated/forgotten. But they have some awesome stuff.

Yeah, i love that one too. I like that the band is death metal, but it has the typical english grindcore production/sound. Like Napalm Death.

Thanks guys!

Blut Aus Nord is always good, and that Macabre Omen album is indeed awesome, easily one the the best this year. As for Darkspace, well I haven't had the time to fully digest it yet, but I am sure it will be amazing. An interesting find for me was Rimthurs. This is some really cool, obscure black metal, which reminds me slightly of early Svartsyn in a way. Good stuff!
