Just pre-ordered Hypothermia's "Svartkonst", transparent green vinyl ep limited to 150 copies.

Hope it's good, i don't usually pre-order albums without a listen first, but i liked the one track they have released and there last tape "Warakumbla". Also a pretty big fan in general.

No picture because I'm on vacation, I stopped at some hole-in-the-wall used music/movie store just outside Dallas yesterday. They had some decent stuff surprisingly:

Emperor - Anthems
Amos - A Matter of Time
Goatsblood - Drull
Sepultura - Schizophrenia (possibly a bootleg, I'll have to do some investigation when I have time)
Blind Guardian - Beyond the Red Mirror

Got some cheap stuff in over the past few days. Except the Marduk cd, which was a normal price.

Image

Behemoth - Demigod
Bolt Thrower - ..For Victory
Bolt Thrower - Honour, Valour, Pride
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
Marduk - Frontschwein
Melechesh - The Epigenesis
Samael - Above
Vader - Reign Forever World
Vader - Revelations
Vader - Blood
Vader - The Beast
Vader - Necropolis
Vesania - Distractive Killusions

Finally I have the Bolt Thrower discography complete. I also really like Honour Valour Pride, I like Benediction and this is a really nice 'best of both worlds'.
Getting more and more into Vader lately. I really want to get the Art Of War EP soon, but it seems kinda hard to find.

I'm sure most people here already bought their fill of Metallica albums loooooong ago (and that's including the folks who don't own Metallica stuff to begin with because they don't like or care about them).

I actually need to buy copies of Metallica's stuff. Had legit digital copies when I was younger, but I haven't gotten around to actually picking up physical copies. I'm not really in a rush though, because I know they'll always be in print. Can't say the same for most stuff.... :grumble:

If you walk into any used cd store in America you can start and finish your latter day Metallica collection thrice fold. If you walk into two stores you can start and finish your entire Metallica collection on the same day. Half the time you can even find at least one original print of one of the first four albums.

At the moment I'm just building up my collection. Represses, reissues, originals, anything as long as it isn't a bootleg, even the licensed Argentina/Mexico/etc stuff doesn't bother me haha

Same and only if they are dirt cheap, funnily enough I bought a first press and justice on cd the other day.

Normally don't give a shit about Metallica but it was super cheap and there was fuck all else to buy, well aside from the wl/promo copy of Confessor - Condemned I picked up at the same time.

Texas really needs to learn how to be more organized, all the record stores I've been into are massively chaotic and disorganized. Anyways I picked up a few more cds today from another little place just outside Dallas.

Voivod - Katorz (promo cd)
Horrendous - Ecdysis
Isis - The Red Sea
Baring Teeth - Atrophy

Did you have any problems with Icarus CDs? I have tons of them and they are very similar to the ones which are licensed from, regarding booklet. pressing, etc.

I have a dozen or so Icarus discs, it's a mixed bag in regards to quality. I have one disc, brand new, won't even play it's such cheap garbage. Most of the time they use inferior CD cases, thinner paper stock for inlays, etc. Then there are others, like two of my Legion Of The Damned Icarus discs, where it would be hard to tell them apart from the official releases. I've definitely seen much worse coming out of Russia and Greece.

Icarus discs just look shitty.. the paper is cheap and the disc face prints are always rough and pixelated like those crappy old early 90s picture discs. They're visibly much worse than official Century Media, Napalm and Nuclear Blast discs. Even my friend who has no idea about CD quality can easily tell the difference.

The only Icarus disc I have is Tortured Existence, but it seems to be alright. Del Imaginario Discos on the other hand, is fucking terrible. I had one of the 2011 reissue of Power from Hell, and the disc face print was clearly shittier quality compared to the official version from AFM Records.

I also have one for Forbidden Evil and I've been meaning to get it replaced with more official copy (it's the one with bonus tracks that apparently doesn't have a US version, but there's Euro copies that are more legitimate).

You mean it looks rough and kinda like fine-grade sandpaper? Cause that's how all the Icarus ones look. Argentina in general seems to produce rubbish discs, even Australian ones are better quality.

Yeah, that's actually a really accurate description of how it looked. I always thought it looked weird, then I saw a picture of the official version and the disc had a nice, holographic-ish print that looked more like an official copy. I was able to confirm this when I ordered a copy straight from AFM.

I hate Icarus reissues. I just picked one up the other day without realizing it, wish I had because I would've left it on the shelf. All the things I've ever gotten from them have had terrible sound quality aside from the shitty artwork and everything else. I could forgive the artwork and booklet but not the sound. It's all muddy and clustered and I can't hardly make anything out :nono: . Makes me sad that I wasted $10 cause I was stupid.

Never heard of that problem before. Have you tried playing it on more than one player? The ones I've had don't sound like that, but a couple of them have had a tendency to suddenly just freeze up and stop playing on the DVD player that I use for CDs. But then others have played through fine. The poor sound quality is probably caused by the poor quality of the disc itself, not inherent in the actual master they used.

They're definitely shoddy CDs though, more bendy and flimsy than usual. I also saw a Metallica - S&M CD made by Universal Argentina and it's the exact same matrix type as all the Icarus ones, so obviously there's only one pressing plant in the entire damn country

No I haven't because I was on vacation I was just listening to it in the car. Mind you it was a 2014 car so the stereo wasn't shit by any means. I have live versions of some of the songs I was listening to that are much clearer and have just better general quality to them. Last time I ever buy an Icarus disc.

Car stereos are often more sensitive than home ones. I've got quite a few CDs with small scratches that skip or stick in my car head unit but will play fine on a computer or CD/DVD player. The error correction in car units is more geared towards fixing errors caused by vibration and shock impact, often at the expense of the ability to compensate for disc damage. But yeah, it's a sound idea to avoid Icarus discs, they're just trashy. All the ones I have are from a mailorder company that stocks them and often fails to specify them as such on the listings, so from now on i'll be emailing ahead to make sure i'm getting the real deal instead of cheap crap.

Grave - Soulless [US, original] finally an original, I can flick off my reissue
Nox - Ixaxaar [US] decent Dutch DM band

B

Atrocity - Todessehnsucht [EUR, original] I've wanted this for ages, I've had and sold represses...

Marduk - Warschau [SWE, ltd ed with slipcase] live Marduk, awesome
Mord - Necrosodomic Abyss [EUR, promo] reasonably violent and listenable black metal, I have Christendom Perished too
Zyklon - Storm Detonation [UK, DVD promo] live Zyklon is good Zyklon

D

Bad Brains - Quickness [US, repress] fun album, it left a mark when I was 13 and still sounds good now, my other repress will get traded
Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality [EUR, old repress]
Black Sabbath - Paranoid [US, old repress]
Black Sabbath - Sabotage [EUR, old repress]
Human Remains - Using Sickness As A Hero [US] not bad, I added it on a whim to my order

Neil Young's International Harvesters - A Treasure. Yeeeeehaw this is definitely the most country-sounding thing the fucker's ever done, almost a bit too redneck for my tolerance

Asesino - Corridos De Muerte [US, original Koolarrow] like Brujeria but not
Crowbar - Symmetry In Black [EUR] I have every album now

Hate - Anaclasis: A Haunting Gospel Of Malice & Hatred [FRA] not bad, Polish tech death
Monstrosity - Spiritual Apocalypse [GER] pretty good, wicked drums, I've not really heard this album before
Zyklon - The Storm Manifesto [UK] all 3 albums on 3 CDs + bonus material in a Fatboy jewel case, old school!
