Murg - Varg & Björn (Some kind of skinny digipak)
Nightbringer - Hierophany of the Open Grave
Hyperion - Seraphical Euphony (Just awesome, thanks for the recommendation STORMM)
Rise Of The Northstar - Welcame (Digipak, was dirt cheap, bought it just for fun)

^Oh hey, I'm not the only one who likes Rise of the Northstar around here.

They are really fun, and their videos are hilarious. I have the Japanese pressing of Welcame on order right now.

A bit overkill, even for my standards but:

Megadeth - Dystopia [Vinyl]
Megadeth - Dystopia [standard version with VR] (this one was my hastiness, didn't want to miss out on the VR, but then I found out the VR's were also available with the EU bonus track version)

Rotten Casket - Consumed By Filth [MC #6/100] Some high quality Swedish DM worship. If you like SDM, you'll love this.

Every time is see those longboxes, I think; 'gaawd this is a horror for people who like their cd closet symmetric and organised' :D

Those type of longboxes/xl/digipacks/xl digibooks/earbooks might look cool, but they literally stick out (in all different manners) of your cd collection; i've already spotted;

Machine Head - Bloodstone and diamonds
Testament - Dark Roots Of Earth
At The Gates - At War With Reality
The Black Dahlia Murder - Abysmal
Entombed - Back To The Front
Arch Enemy - Khaos Legions
and many more extravangant editions like these;

I am however planning to buy that Autopsy - After The Cutting earbook; but it's a horror to find a perfect spot to shelve/display it ;p

A great vinyl pickup from the band, sent as appreciation for fleshing out the info on their MA page.

My original reaction was to just laugh at their videos. The whole "french weaboos running around in deliquent uniforms in Japan" thing never gets old. But then after a while, I realized their music was insanely catchy and I liked it enough to buy it. Something about Vithia's French accent really helps their phrasing imo.

Tapes

Been dumpster-diving have we?

I had a vault of tapes which most of them are actually lost. I went to my hometown to save what I could and that's the stuff I've found 'original'. There were a bunch of recorded tapes, dubbed from originals back in the day that I left there cause my current apartment is not big enough to store them, most of them were 80's thrash and 80'-early 90' death metal. Some of those tapes sounds really good since those were ripped from vinyl.

The tapes I miss the most (besides the hundreds of originals that I had stored there) are the recorded radio shows I did as a host between 2000 and 2003 in a local radio station. The show itself was 2 hours, saturdays from 22:00 to 0:00. We had a decent rating, the show played all kinds of metal, interviews, dates of local shows and we also had a phone to 'take orders'. I went to the show each weekend with vast amounts of music and many 'premieres' (back then I had some friends who worked on a huge magazine and they got promos and albums in advance all the time, which I used on the show).

dreadmeat wrote:

At least here, most of the 70'-80's tapes that arrived here were white. That Queen tape is Italian.

The CC-Tomb tape was apparently hit by something heavy but it still works. The Bleeding one is worn out as fuck and sounds really quiet by now.

I also forgot to post this one

Image

I recently gave the original Dark Side of the Moon tape as a gift. I also gave away many other PF tapes to a friend who's way bigger fan of them than I.

The perils of OCD collector syndrome  If the slipcase has different artwork (ie Vital Remains' last two or the Deep Purple anniversary editions of Burn and Fireball) I leave it on the case, but if it's just a replica of the CD artwork it goes in the box.

Bolzer - Aura

Has some of the most righteous riffs I've ever heard. And it actually has dynamics, with a DR rating of 11.

Demilich - 20th Adversary of Emptiness

Cost me around $40 with shipping. Since I drifted away from metal for a while, I didn't get a chance to nab it when it first came out. Better late than never, though. The remastering is excellently done; I wish other OSDM releases got the same treatment instead of that brickwalling that some labels think is "optimized sound".

Kraftwerk - Autobahn

The 2009 remaster. Unlike a lot of German progressive music -- and Kraftwerk's later output -- it feels very human, and perfectly captures the feeling of racing down the freeway on a warm, summery day.

Next time I'll include a picture.

Haha, once in a while i come in a record store who pin them with a very small needle on the walls. Nice option. But yeah, it creates a hole in the carton so I don't do it. While I also don't use them... Same reason I never hang up posters I get with records... A collectors life is hard sometimes :D

What's this virtual reality thing like? This is the first I've heard about this package.

Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell (Deluxe Edition)
Black Sabbath - Headless Cross
Malevolent Creation - Envenomed

Headless Cross is a rather hokey "Classic Rock Series" reissue with a particularly ugly layout, and was rather expensive to boot, but considering how much the original goes for it'll do. Serves me right for not getting it back when it was still in print... oh and this Jerry Ewing guy can suck a dead African Black Rhino dick. Great idea, let some massive homo cunt fill up two pages with his self-important name dropping and Dio-bashing instead of, oh I dunno, a fucking lyric sheet or something...

It's a cool gimmick. They play 5 songs from the new album "live" (playback) and you walk around between them and can look around 360 degrees. Really cool for 1 or 2 times but I don't think you'll pull it out soon again. Bummer is they didn't tell us that you need an Iphone 6 or Galaxy s5 or higher....

Latest HMV order! Came in a couple of days ago, but I'll finally have a chance to finish listening to everything today. Some very possible AOTY material here.

Image
ゲスの極み乙女。(technical J-pop?) - 魅力がすごいよ
ゲスの極み乙女。- 両成敗 (Limited Edition w/ bonus live dvd and a towel)
Hiromi (jazz fusion) - Spark (Limited Edition w/ bonus live dvd and postcard; also doesn't come out until April for the west :P)
Megadeth (duh) - Dystopia
Kamijo (power metal) - Symphony of The Vampire (Limited Edition Type C was the cheapest for some reason. There was a second disc that came with a soundtrack to a film Kamijo produced. I recognized some melodies ripped from Versailles on that lol)
人間椅子 (doom/heavy metal) - 怪談 そして死とエロス (Limited Edition w/ bonus live dvd and a button)
Rise of the Northstar (hardcore/beatdown) - Welcame
Taika (jazz fusion) - Pulsate

Pre-ordered "Graveland/Nokturnal Mortum - The Spirit Never Dies" again, this time the limited edition wooden box. They made some extra copies of it because of high demand.

I've been too lazy to post pictures lately but I found a couple cool things locally last weekend:

Deep Purple - In Rock (Vinyl, very good condition considering the price)
Rainbow - Rising (Vinyl, nearly mint for $10)
Scorpions - Blackout (Vinyl)
Convict - Go Ahead...Make My Day! (Vinyl, near mint, an absolute oddity)

Iron Maiden - Live After Death (cassette, I guess everyone knows this already but holy shit this album rules)

Boy, it's been a while since I posted in here. I've been getting quite free with my spending lately and have just been buying CDs like clockwork, and so I keep forgetting to take pics and whatnot. As much as I feel I owe it to you guys to go and try to find every album I've bought that I haven't updated here yet, I think I might just have to do with a list of my more recent pick ups instead haha:

Agalloch - Pale Folklore
Agent Steel - Skeptics Apocalypse
Agent Steel - Mad Locust Rising
Burzum - Hlidskjalf
Circle Jerks - Group Sex
Death - Symbolic
Dover Trench - Exhibition of Speed (didn't purchase this necessarily, it's free to download on their website)
Exmortus - Beyond the Fall of Time
Exmortus - Ride Forth
Fucked Up - The Chemistry of Common Life
Fueled by Fajitas/Frijoles/Fire - Spread the Fire
Hypnosia - Violent Intensity
Hypocrisy - Penetralia/Osculum Obscenum 2CD
Immolation - Here in After
Impaled - Death After Life
Leeway - Born to Expire
Malevolent Creation - Retribution
Mayhem - Live in Liepzig
Motörhead - Aftershock
Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence
Necrophobic - Darkside
Omen - Battle Cry
Opprobrium (Incubus) - Serpent Temptation
Sabbat - Dreamweaver (original)
Saint Vitus - Mournful Cries
Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds of the Western World
Van Halen - Women and Children First
Vomitory - Redemption
Vulcano - Bloody Vengeance
Warbringer - Worlds Torn Asunder
Warbringer - IV: Empires Collapse

As for vinyl, probably my most interesting find recently was a first pressing of Blind Illusion's The Sane Asylum. There's an obnoxious drill hole through the top right corner of the sleeve and jacket, but it doesn't really bother me much. And the record plays just fine, very light and wobbly feeling too.

On Tuesday, I took a trip to San Jose, CA, to see Black Sabbath on The End tour. Picked up a shirt and The End CD:

Before the concert, I visited the San Jose music shop Streetlight Records. Didn't find much, only:

Dark Earth/Bibles and Hand Grenades split

Before I went to Streetlight Records, I went to Rasputin Records in Campbell (a town next to San Jose, where one of my brothers lives). I often go to the Rasputin where I live, but I wanted to see the difference in used CD selection then the one I go to. Found some cool used/discounted finds:

Trouble - The Distortion Field
Powerwolf - Preachers of the Night
Orphaned Land - All is One
Cruachan - Blood on the Black Robe
Occultation - Three and Seven
