It seems there is no tape inside, isn't it? Or is just my eyes?

:o  I didn't even notice that until you brought it up. I'm sure that's just a shell for the marketing shots.

I thought the tapes looked empty, too... and, even with my drunk eyes, it looks like the labels are photoshopped onto the shell, especially on the one in front.

EITHER WAY, I WANT IT.

Still waiting for that Grave Declaration CD to get here. Last time I got CDs from Norway they came a bit faster...

Anyways, I also ordered this:

Nocturnal Freeze - Transylvania

Jimmy Calhoun recommended this to me in the BM Help Thread and it sounds pretty good.

Also this:

Northern Flame - Glimpse of Hope

This is a genre I usually hate, but this is actually pretty good. I'm glad that Nokternal Hemizphear picked up this band.

I just ordered the 5 CD's for $10 Prosthetic Records black/death grab bag and two of the Willowtip $25 grab bags. I also have some record store and eBay purchases that I will post when the grab bags come in. Going to be an exciting couple of weeks!

Great idea for a thread, dreadmeat! I'll sometimes wander into an online distro only to realize they have an unannounced sale. Makes me wonder how many others I miss!

Assuming they're shipping from the US, isn't that, like, really expensive for a tape? I'd never in my life pay more than $7 for a new tape; of course, I've shelled out $30+ before for second-hand things like Rhinocervs tapes but even those scammers only charged like $6-8 for their stock when it was fresh.

I dunno as I've never ordered tapes before. I think it was like 8.88€ for the tape and around 2.5€ for shipping (I'm estimating here) but all told after converting from € to USD it only cost me $15. The label is French so I'm assuming thatit will be ccoming from France so no not domestic U.S. shipping.

I just got a copy of Black Sabbath "Reunion" on CD. Really cool find. I'm pretty sure this one is out of print now, or at least I haven't seen it in stores for quite some time now. I guess you can still buy it new on Amazon but whatever. I've been looking for it because that was probably the last time all four of them are going to perform together. Plus it has those two exclusive studio tracks, which makes it somewhat collectible. Kinda like how its worth holding on to The Dio Years compilation, even if you have the albums, 'cause of those three excellent new songs.

Not all metal-related, but I thought I'd share the rest of my haul anyway.

Vinyl

Super Session (Bloomfield/Kooper/Stills)
Grand Funk Railroad - Survival
Iron Butterfly - Heavy
Hawkwind - In Search of Space
Wishbone Ash - Live Dates

Wrathchild America - 3D
Joe Satriani - Not of This Earth
Da Lench Mob - Guerillas in tha Mist
Aerosmith - Night in the Ruts
Rock City Angels - Young Man's Blues
Bang Tango - Psycho Cafe
Dandelion - I Think I'm Gonna Be Sick
Chuck Berry - Great Twenty Eight
Dead or Alive - Youthquake

October Tide - Rain Without End

I wish they had kept the original cover artwork though. As primitive as it is, it just works a lot better I'd say.

These arrived last week from a seller at MA, some good stuff, some accidental double ups, some stuff I don't like...

Beherit - Engram [FIN, pretty good]
Cannibal Corpse - Worm Infested [US, jewel case version]
Coffins - Mortuary In Darkness [US, original, this is really wicked and mega heavy]
Cryptopsy - Ungentle Exhumation [CAN, 2002 reissue, the only CD version I think, old Cryptopsy rules]
Entombed - Wolverine Blues [UK, original, their last good album? I like it]
Gorguts - Live In Rotterdam [CAN, I have 2 copies of this now]
Hellhammer - Demon Entrails [US, cardboard sleeve, I have 2 different versions of this now]
Malignancy - Intrauterine Cannibalism [US, 2002 reissue]
Mayhem - Live In Leipzig [UK, 2007 Digipak reissue]
Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao [FRA, metal case but clear jewel case and not the red disc] new to Discogs
Mortician - Hacked Up For Barbecue / Zombie Apocalypse [US, both releases on 1 disc]
Mortification - Hammer Of God [US, original, not bad, sounds like Mortification]
Overkill - Necroshine [CAN, not bad]
Rotting Christ - Passage To Arcturo [US, 2006 Unruly remastered reissue with bonus songs]
Sepultura - Live In São Paulo [US, double CD live, Derrick on vocals... it's ok] new to Discogs
Slo Burn - Amusing The Amazing [US, original, I've wanted this for years]

I know someone already answered your question dread, but yeah that would be the Metal Mind reissue of The Law.

Initially I didn't want to buy it, because I'd rather grab a copy of Roadrunner's Two from the Vault that has The Law and Slaughter in the Vatican, but I dunno something came over me and I went and picked it up anyways :p

One I should have had a long time ago, and one that I'm totally stoked about stumbling upon. Dodsengel stuff is hard to come by.

I had a fairly massive order put together at Dark Descent and then talked myself down from the ledge. After some intense soul searching I came away with:

Zemial - Nykta
Funereal Presence - The Archer Takes Aim
Countess - Ancient Lies and Battle Cries

Really excited to see what Zemial have cooked up, this album looks "out there" compared to their earlier Bathory-ish stuff. I'm sure there's still some of that going on but it looks like they went off the deep end with the writing on this one. Fingers crossed for something special. I know Abominatrix digs this album a lot and I don't think he's EVER let me down.

Funereal Presence is the solo project of Bestial Devotion, aka the drummer for Negative Plane. Only four songs and 3 are long as hell but I sampled the opener just to make sure I wasn't fucking up and it held my attention. It doesn't sound like Negative Plane very much, which was kind of a relief and a disappointment at the same time. He has his own voice but he speaks in a lot of the same weird phrases: traditional riffs that have been perverted, bells, and organs. I think I'm gonna dig but we'll see. This is the biggest risk on the order, but I've got a real good feeling.

COUNTESS!!!!! I feel the oddest loyalty to this band. I've been a fan for a few years now and I genuinely prefer this new epic heavy metal style Orlok has landed on as opposed to the old orthodox black metal he used to pump out. It was a pretty subtle shifting, over the course of albums like Heilig Vuur and Spawn of Steel. Boy, has he arrived in style. As always it's half-retarded music conceived from the mind of a childman. Or, as our lovable Heavy_T_Skubbs put it, it sounds like Quorthon got hit on the head with a rock and is trying to learn to play again. I love it.

Yeah, that Zemial album is pretty great. It's got a really cool production, too.

Speaking of Dark Descent, my order taking advantage of their recent sale arrived:
Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide
Craven Idol - Towards Eschaton
Furia - Marzannie Krolowej Polski
Naer Mataron - And the Word Became Flesh (half ripping black metal, half neo-folk, interesting)
Emptiness - Nothing But the Whole (this album is unlike anything I've ever heard, just huge)

Amazon stuff:
Accept: Blind Rage
Allegaeon - Elements of the Infinite
Overkill - White Devil Armory
Ripping Corpse - Dreaming with the Dead
Sanctuary - Refuge Denied/Into the Mirror Black 2CD reissue

From secondspin.com
Megadeth - Killing Is My Business (original)
Yyrkoon - Occult Medicine

Also got Rigor Mortis' first CD for contributing to the kickstarter thing. Now I need to actually order the new one. What I've heard so far is promising, to say the least.

Finally, has anyone else had a problem with getting their reissue of the Num Skull CD from Relapse? The street date was yesterday and I'd not received mine, so I dropped them an email and got a "response" that said only "shipped" with a tracking number that tells me so far only a shipping label has been created at their North Carolina distro location. I noticed someone on the Relapse Facebook page talking about a similar delay.

Damn, I didn't even know DD had a sale on!
We have to be more vigilant with this stuff, every time you guys find place with a sale on can you post it in here: viewtopic.php?p=2450202

Naer Mataron - And the Word Became Flesh (half ripping black metal, half neo-folk, interesting)
Annoying aye, I can't really handle them but the good bits are pretty good

Ripping Corpse - Dreaming with the Dead [original one?]
Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis [kickstarter ?!]

Yeah, by the time I saw your sale thread, the DD sale was over. It had been going on for about a week and a half, I think. I was actually just about to post there that for some reason the Omega Mailorder sale went up, inexplicably, from 33% to 35%. They also have a new hilariously garish sale banner but I see you removed the first one so I'll abstain from posting it, haha.

Ripping Corpse is that rarest of things, a straight reissue. No remaster, no alteration whatsoever to the sound or artwork, as far as I can tell. There isn't even any indication in the packaging that it is a reissue. I posted about it in the reissue thread.
http://www.amazon.com/Dreaming-Dead-Rip ... 000006J9H/

And I meant Rigor Mortis indiegogo, not kickstarter. Oops. Either way, it's over now.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rigo ... -the-grave
There's a thread about the new album somewhere around this forum. (Here.)

edited to include Rigor Mortis link

That Emptiness album is strange as hell right? I've been trying to drum up some conversation about it but people are slow to check it out. I can't even really say for sure that I LIKE it, I'm just intrigued by it. It sounds so depressed, but not depressing. It sounds like the ghost of things that were never alive in the first place. Crumbling buildings, rotting and rusted machinery. What a fucking weird album.

Of COURSE the DDR sale ends just before I place mine! Oh well.

Honestly $20 shipping for 1 CD from USA is disgusting, how on earth did that ever happen.
The CD is only $6 :annoyed:
