NICE MY DUDE

VIO-FREAKIN'-LENCE

After you're done thrashing your facehole off to the main album, the live CD that comes with it is also pretty awesome.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting the live CD to be that good, to be honest. The groovy thrash songs from Oppressing The Masses were very impressive, too

I get why people don't like Sean Killian's vocals, but at the same time, HOW!?! His vocals exemplify 80's thrash metal, in my opinion. Yeah, they're high pitched, but goddamn it he is a mean motherfucker. :headbang: :guns:

Just bought Conjuration of the Spectral Empire and Awaiting the Day of Liberation (demo) which nearly completes my collection of The Chasm's entire discography, with the exception of that first, elusive album....

Conjuration rules. I have Awaiting the Day of Liberation on CD but it doesn't get as many spins. It's good but I don't think they had quite figured out their quirks yet. I love that old logo though! Truthfully when it comes to The Chasm I prefer their more modern stuff. A lot more racing speed than doomy dirges, nahmean?

You don't, really. You either get INTO them or get OVER them.

No getting past it.

Agreed. Sean Killian exemplifies pure thrash attitude. I truly don't understand how anyone can dislike them. They're honestly not that high pitched either, if you can sit through Forbidden, Overkill, and Anthrax, then you've got no excuse for disliking the punkish badassery of Vio-Lence's vocals.

This was recommended to me in my recommendation thread:

Kunstzone - The art of making the earth uninhabitable. Extreme industrial metal, think Anaal Nathrakh merged with Fear Factory.

I started paying attention to the lyrics, which are very well-written, after that the vocals made much more sense in the band.

I ordered Covenant by Morbid Angel and received Ultimate Sinatra by mistake. I'm thinking the Sinatra ordered will be more surprised.

Even though I posted about this a few weeks ago, I wanted to actually show it off this time. Now one of the rarest LPs I own.

The Gates of Slumber - Conqueror

That's a rad pick-up man! I was never totally sold on the Dark Valley Suite but the rest of that album is airtight. Was just talking to a friend last week about how The Gates of Slumber turned USPM for two albums, and wouldn't you know it those are my two favorites from them by a mile?

Recent orders:

Venom - Black Metal (NEAT 1005)
Riot - Rock City (Ariola press), Narita (Attic press)
Liege Lord - Master Control (Metal Blade press -- this completes my Liege Lord vinyl collection -- ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!)

Those box sets are actually preferable to the standalone remasters because they lack the utterly worthless bonus tracks. So they're still brickwalled compared to the old pressings but at least you don't have to lunge for the stop button as soon as the actual albums ends before having some useless scratch-track demos or tinny live tracks inflicted on your poor ears. The only useful bonus tracks on that entire series were the Xecutioner demo tracks on Obituary - Slowly We Rot and "Black Masses" on Mercyful Fate - The Beginning.

I have to argue against that- the "No Presents for Xmas" bonus track on KD - Fatal Portrait- is pretty fucking awesome!

Go! Go! Go! Finish that collection! Post pics too! :D

Also, seeing that Strat album reminds me, when are Visions, Dreamspace, and Episode coming out in their new versions? I want those three, but haven't really noticed their site being updated/heard any news.

I hate that song, gimmicky cheesy rubbish :P Plus it was already on A Dangerous Meeting anyway. The Lake is a good bonus track, although it was already on the original CD so it doesn't really count.
