I know Trivium is a band that gets flamed a lot, but as of today, Travis Smith is no longer with the band. They haven't given a reason yet. The new drummer is ex-drum tech/touring drummer for the last leg of the tour, Nick Augusto.

To anyone who cares. I enjoy Trivium's music. They are releasing a single for the God Of War III EP and an album later this year.

As soon as this is moved out of 'metal' discussion for obvious reasons, I will then edit this post with my opinion.

It's quite obvious they are metal, so I think it's ok that they are here, correct?

This is a shame. Personally, I think Travis Smith was a great drummer, and fit really well with the band. I know they get alot of shit, but I really like The Crusade and most of Ascendancy. In fact, the band is very talented, they just... don't show it in the way they could. I may be one of the only who cares, though.

I agree...Trivium are very talented guitaristwise at least and they really don't show it...the first 3 albums lacked alot and I used to despise them in the era of those. I actually was drunk seeing them open for Lamb of God and Machine Head and flipped them off and danced, mocking them, the entire show. I was a douche then...

However, I think the LAST RECORD "Shogun" was miles above their previous material that I've heard, especially the first track. Album is more sophisticated and technical, and better quality.

Other than that, I wish the best of luck to these guys with their new drummer, or if this guy can't work out, another drummer. Matt Heafy is my age and I've grown to like the dude from what I've seen in interviews...he seems true to himself and pretty down to earth.

I actually liked Ascendancy a little. I didn't like any of their other albums too much though.

He's leaving Trivium, which implies he's moving.

Did it say which way he's moving? Do I need to put up a fence?

I think that's pretty much the same with me too. What I've heard from that album is actually pretty good, it's just those vocals absolutely ruin it for me.

Personally, I like Trivium a lot, every album. Well, The Crusade not quite so much, but still. Kind of a shame to hear about Travis. I hope the new guy does well, and I'm looking forward to the new album. Also, if he's into Nasum, that's a good sign. Maybe we could get a Trivium with blastbeats.

Yeah he had the mohawk.

I like Trivium. But I always felt Travis was kind of anonymous, didn't really bring anything to the table druming wise. For some reason I always felt he'd be more comfortable in a pop/punk band :/ He was one of the founding members, though. Had been in the band for 10 years.

That's where people in Nasum shirts belong as a general rule. Good for Trivium, because lame metalcore > any Relapse-grind.

Oh joy! Now we've just got to get rid of the rest of their members! No, wait, they probably don't have members... I mean the rest of their line-up. Yeah. Let's get rid of the rest of the line-up!

Don't the guys from Fall Out Boy like Thin Lizzy?

That all Pakistanis belong in the ovens doesn't mean that all ovens have Pakistanis in them.

I think the drummer from Fall Out Boy is into thrash metal and stuff. One of the guys from Taking Back Sunday was into bands like Celtic Frost and Sodom as well. Presumably they do the pop punk thing to pay the bills and that.

It's the (ex?)drummer from Maruta. Which explains the shirt.

Heafy's the member that should have left/died. He completely ruined any chance the band had of being halfway decent. They had a few highlights, but the vocals absolutely fucked the band's attempt at making music.

There was a video that was up for a few hours before it was taken down of the new guy playing their God Of War III song and he was blasting. Only heard the drums, they didn't show any of the guitar tracking.

I downloaded "Shogun" and I just couldn't get into it.

They're just a Metalli-clone. On parts of the record they don't even sound metal at all.

You're a funny little kraut, ain't ya? I thought the thread was about Trivium, not my racial background.

I was referring to the vibe I got from his drumming, in any case. He didn't feel 'comfortable' on Ascendancy or The Crusade.

No need to act like they're some obscure band here, man...just go try out the whole entire album of Jailbreak; that'll start you off.

Oh, literally EVERY SONG THEY HAVE!

My favourites are probably the Cowboy song, Jailbreak, Killer on the loose, Genocide (The Killing of the Buffalo), The Rocker, Bad Reputation, Cold Sweat...

they were one of those few bands that never conformed to any popular style at any point. Totally original in every way. That's probably why they're one of my favourite bands.

This thread is filled with so much bullshit it's excruciating. I've only heard a few random Trivium songs (remember those parody videos on youtube?), but for the sake of the band members, I hope the new drummer works out.

OK, I get it, you don't like the band. Fine. That's still not a valid reason to practice your goatse on someone else's thread. Use the mirror in your mom's bathroom instead.

Consider this a warning, gentlemen. I know a few of you will whine about Napero's and MA's general untr00ness in Brian's basement cavern while practicing wearing corpsepaint and training bras later on this fine Friday evening, but I think you folks should grow the fuck up.

I noticed a few established regulars being asses here, too. Seriously, I've had a stressful week, and unless I get plenty of beer soon, there will be casualties if one of you continues being a dick. So behave, or I'll go all Pol Pot on your e-asses.
