From Profound Lore Records: The new album from American doomed dark metal veterans Grey Skies Fallen “Molded By Broken Hands” will see its release on March 8th, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the band’s debut album “The Fate of Angels”.
Pre-orders, new single/video here:
https://linktr.ee/greyskiesfallendoom

“Molded By Broken Hands” will see the long-running contingent deliver their most triumphant work yet and is an album that carries that feeling of the underappreciated and underrated dark metal scene that was culminating in the US during the late ‘90s, an era where GREY SKIES FALLEN grew from.
Through soaring, emotionally searing melodies, glorious epic harmonics, and with an overall conquering aura, “Molded By Broken Hands” will finally deliver the recognition GREY SKIES FALLEN are worthy of.
“Molded By Broken Hands” was recorded and engineered with all keyboards provided by Colin Marston in the Thousand Caves and was mixed and mastered by legendary Swedish producer Dan Swano. It also features artwork and design by Travis Smith (Opeth, Katatonia).

1. A Twisted Place in Time
2. Molded by Broken Hands
3. No Place For Sorrow
4. I Can Hear Your Voice
5. Cracks in Time
6. Save Us
7. Knowing That You’re There

I'd not heard of this band, but this track is excellent. Love this type of 'soaring', melodic doom.

Wow - talk about a blast from the absolute past. I had an MP3 by these guys (Walk This Bloody Path) in like, 1999. I have no idea how I even came across it. Then about 6 years later, I found their album "Two Way Mirror" in a second-hand store and blind-purchased it for like, $4.

I had completely forgotten they existed since then, even though i genuinely liked what I'd heard all those years ago. I dig the new track. I had no idea they were still a band or that they released new music since 2006.

Katatonia fans are going to love this (which means I hate it)

Profound Lore really is starting to look like "Artificial Brain and friends", but basically everything in that circle is great and Rick is another longtime NYDM stalwart.

Believe me, I've heard a ton of this since yesterday, and going into the announcement, I had anticipated it.

I kinda dig it because we have a pretty large back catalog, and now, if people dig the new stuff, they can go back to the other records and EP's, etc.

Anyway, glad you stumbled upon us again. I think you'll like the new album!

We did go on right before them at Milwaukee 2000, so you may be onto something.

New song is great. There's a weighty weariness to it that I can dig. Vocals are soaring but with so much body and presence and the music is making me think of My Dying Bride and Novembers Doom more than Katatonia.

Agreed. This song definitely delivers in the same manner as those two great bands (MDB & ND).

Glad you dig the single. I feel the rest of the record is just as good.

Next single Feb 6th. That one is more aggressive.

Well here's the new single. Definitely more aggressive, with a bit of a trad/epic doom vibe to it (at least to my ears).

Well, fuck!!! That new song is almighty. Total craftsmanship. 10/10.

Great riffs, build-up, anthemic tonality that doesn't pander, nifty melodic overlays and the vocals have such presence and depth in every character they take on. I hear a traditional metal throatiness mixed with a growlier catch from the Paradise Lost/Grand Magus end of things. Can't really compare this to other bands though cause they've managed to sound like only themselves. Bravo!

This is bound to be a great album, looks like.

I discovered these folks off the AMG review and have been totally blown away. How have I not heard
of them before? The new album is great so I went back and listened to their old stuff and it all rocks. Apart from MDB which is a clear influence, I hear a bit of Type O as well, which kind of makes sense given the band is also from Noo Yawk.

Highly recommended!

Good ear. Here's a bit of GSF trivia...

We were renting a monthly room in Staten Island in 2010 but had to give it up and move out. Type O was supposed to take the room and start writing their new album and then Peter unfortunately passed away.

Also, glad that AMG review was good for something! I was hoping people would look past the score and give the record a chance! Glad you did.

Tragic! Pete’s loss is still felt! But yes - the AMG score was lower than I would have rated it for sure. There was enough substance in the review to intrigue me however and here we are!
