For ANYONE in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, in Delaware County down the street from my house there is a small CD outlet called "Goodies." It's in Holmes, PA, about 15 minutes from Philadelphia. They have extremely underground black/death/thrash metal, as well as all the new releases of well known bands. VERY good metal selection, and no CD is over 10 dollars.

Got an address for the place? I may check that out.

Yep.

Goodies Disc Exchange
2229 MacDade Boulevard
Holmes, PA 19043-1224
(610) 532-3472

Now they don't just sell metal there, but their metal section is simply the best I've seen around. I picked up an original copy of Dawn of the Black Hearts from there for 7 dollars. One employee is an old school metalhead; if you buy a good amount of metal CDs and he happens to be working at the time, you may get a pretty good discount (I once bought 10 CDs, the total came to around 70 dollars but he knocked it down to 45 just because he said I had excellent taste in metal).

Would anyone happen to know where I can find some record stores around Athens, Greece? I'm on a study abroad trip and all the shops that I've seen so far only had pop and folk music...

If you get over the Sunshine Skyway bridge, in the northern part of St. Pete there's Sound Exchange. They've got some rare material.

Is it possible to compile the list of shops that have been proposed sorted by country/city in the first post, so we don't have to search the entire thread and people won't post the same request twice ?

Not sure about:
Grotten Emporium

The Grotten Emporium is in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It's hard to say whether that should go under UK or Ireland, maybe put it under both due to people outside the UK and Ireland not really understanding the difference.

Anyone know of anywhere in Sweden, specifically Stockholm but anywhere else in Sweden would also be good to know. And does anybody know of any metal bars/venues in Stockholm as I'm moving there for 6 months in August.

Edit; Another place to add for Belfast is Fresh Garbage, which sells metal/rock clothing, mainly mainstream stuff though. Also a second hand record shop called Atomic Records, while not specific to metal every time I go in I end up coming out with a couple of Saxon/Ozzy/Motörhead type records.

You forgot Goodies Disc Exchange, Philadelphia, PA. Perhaps the best metal selection I've seen around the area.

When did alchohol become an excuse?

There's absolutely nothing in Kitsap County. Your best bet in Seattle would be Zion's Gate on Capital Hill. It's relatively close to Pike and Broadway, Route #60 will take you right there. There's also a place in Ballard that has a lot of Noise stuff but the name escapes me. Easy Street Records in the Junction has a fairly decent selection (mostly on vinyl) but I'd only recommend it if you want to spend $50 on a Nile record. Also check out any of the shows booked by the Pyrate Punx in the area if you like old Grindcore or Crust stuff.

Anything in the Indianapolis, Indiana area?

(excluding Indy CD & Vinyl as that they stock up on indie, rock, and other shit. Rarely there's something good)

Hey man, thanks a bunch of the suggestion. I live about as north in Delaware as you can get (like 15 minutes away from Chester county in PA), so I may have to check this place out. There's an FYE in the mall near my house, but I'm not very impressed by their selection.

A favorite of mine is Vibes Music in Broadripple, it's at 1051 East 54th Street. You find most of the metal stuff actually in their Indie section, but they have a lot of good shit that is hard to find other places (theyre pretty picky about what actually constitutes indie too, for instance Slayer is under Pop/Rock).
Another place that I go for a little bit bigger selection & more mainstream releases is FYE in Castleton Square Mall. It's out of the city but still has a decent enough metal selection, & it's where I probably buy most of my stuff.

I'm thinking Northampton would have to have some kind of independent record store somewhere.

Here is a list of places related to metal in Budapest: http://www.metaltravelguide.com/europe/ ... /budapest/

Today I went to "CD PINCE" and the selection was pretty damn good, got some interesting stuff there (definitely a hell of a lot better than anything to be found where ive been in Romania (Cluj or Timisoara)). They carry a ton of traditional heavy metal and a good selection of extreme too (but not too much underground black metal, sadly).

It's probably already been mentioned in one of the 350 some odd posts already, but this afternoon, I spent a wonderful few hours browsing through Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ.

Was hoping t come across the Deep Mountains CD to no avail. I may have to order it...

Did leave with:
Sword || Gods of the Earth
Sons of Liberty || Brush Fires of the Mind
Oceansize || Home & Minor EP
LA Guns || s/t $5.99
LA Guns || Cocked & Loaded $5.99
Sweet Apple || Love & Depseration

It seems pretty unlikely that you'll be able to find that in a store. The only mailorder that I've seen with it is so far is ATMF, but more should pop up soon.

Decent selection of metal on CD and Vinyl. Far, far from perfect, but it's the economy, stupid.

I made some excellent scores there recently.

Vintage Vinyl has some pretty unexpected things sometimes so I wouldn't say looking there is a bad idea. Still, most of the trillions of underground black metal releases are going to be import only.
