I will be going to college soon and would like to find a record store that sells metal cds in the vicinty of Flint, MI. I would like to get out of the habit of using iTunes to purchase music.

For those asking for stores in Amsterdam, there's two stores: Rock America and Fame.

Rock America sells clothes and merchandising, like band shirts, camo pants, flags, posters, combat boots and accessories, like gloves, studs, spikes, wristbands, pendants and etc. I even got me a nice pair of combat boots for only 99 euros.
Fame is not specifically a rock/metal/alternative story or anything, but they have a nice section of cds, lps and such. Great place to get your music, you'll find TONS of releases, but also any metal classic you can think of.

Rock America has an online shop, but only ships from the U.S.A. Gotta love shipping costs. Fame has a website, but doesn't do online shopping. Hope this helps!

If you are in Grand Rapids, MI, the go to Vertigo Records on Division. They have a huge, diverse selection of metal, tons of used CD's, and lots of vinyl. Best record store in West Michigan.

Going to Gothenburg the 11th of July, can anyone please tell me where I can find shops with t-shirts as well as some with vinyl?
And not the mainstream stuff like shock.se

Googling hasn't helped yet.

I can't remember the exact name of the street, but it was something-longsgatan (which means long street, but there are not that many with this denomination). There was a clothing shop (not too underground, the most underground shirt was maybe a Carcass shirt I bought), there's a metal music store (more expensive than other music stores, but has unique stuff). Two other record stores on this street. There is a ton of record stores in this city (not metal specific, but you can find stuff) though, probably more than in any other city of this size in the world. You can find record stores just by walking around.

You may also try the old-school method (I haven't tried it here, but it might work): Yellow/Gold Pages.

I saw the post above about Amsterdam but I am going on vacation to London, Rome, and Amsterdam. Can someone tell me places where I can get extreme metal t-shirts? Possibly some I won't necessarily find in the US? Thanks.

Anyone know of any decent places in Manchester? Other than Aflecs that is, hate that place. Heading up to old Manc-town to see Judas Priest on Saturday, hoping to fit in a bit of shopping beforehand.

If anyone knows of anywhere else in the Northwest that would be a help aswell, i'm not holding my breath though.

Can't imagine there is anything down there. If you are ever in the cities for a show Extreme Noise is really the only place worth checking out. It is very much a punk shop but they have a decent selection of metal cds, lps and even a few shirts.

Earlier ago, I posted this request for any information of record stores located in Bloomington, Indiana.

Naught wrote:
By any chance, would anyone know of any record stores around Bloomington, Indiana?

Now, if anyone ever visits through Toledo, Ohio, here are a few record stores of significance:

  • The first record store that I discovered was Allied Record Exchange, and for the past two years, I've gone to two of the store outlets. The first Allied Record Exchange's address is 1710 South Reynolds Road, Toledo OH and the second is found on 1855 South Reynolds Road, Toledo OH. Both outlets carry a wide variety of music, ranging from jazz, rap and heavy metal. From my experience, the heavy metal catalog is often worthwhile to browse. You will find a lot of releases from more renown bands, such as Sepultura, Sodom, and Bolt Thrower. Occasionally, there are a few obscure albums for sale too.

  • If you're into collecting vinyl records, I recommend visiting Culture Clash Records, whose address is 4020 Secor Road, Toledo OH. You can visit their official website here, if you're interested in vintage vinyl records, options for purchasing a turntable and purchasing concert tickets for local bands. I've visited Culture Clash Records a few times, and while they have a bare-bone selection for heavy metal, they do compensate by stocking a myriad of original vinyls from bands such as Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, and Judas Priest. I've bought an original vinyl copy of Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny (1976) and Sin After Sin (1977) from there for relatively affordable prices: $9.99 and $7.99 respectively.

  • The last in line is Rama Lama Records, which is found on 3151 West Central Avenue, Toledo OH. In comparison to Allied Record Exchange and Culture Clash Records, Rama Lama Records easily takes the top in terms of music selection, cost, and customer service. Rama Lama Record's music selection is close to one-hundred percent heavy metal, in both vinyl and CDs, including bands such as Desultory, Winter and Sabbat (Japan). Rama Lama Record's catalog ranges from obscure to renown heavy metal bands, as I've purchased Judas Priest's Stained Class (1978) there as well as Winter's Into Darkness (1990). Apart from their impressive CD selection, the second floor of the store holds nothing but vinyl records for those who are intent on searching for vinyl. Additionally, concerts are occasionally hosted on the second floor, as well. If you're ever visiting the city of Toledo, be sure to give Rama Lama Records a gander.

After having explored the city of Bloomington for a little over a month now, I'll share the information and experience that I've personally had with one record store located in this area.

  • The first record store that I visited here in Bloomington, Indiana is an outlet known as Tracks. My last visit to this store was a decent experience in retrospect. In terms of their selection of music, the quantity isn't nothing to brag about, however, the quality of the music is above average, ranging from groups such as Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, to Autopsy, and Hail of Bullets. Additionally, if one's fancy is vinyl, Tracks hosts a rather large selection of affordable vinyl records. However, apart from Track's varied selection of music, approximately half of the store is used to sell campus merchandise for Indiana University, Bloomington, whereas the other half is devoted to stocking music and vinyl records and players. Overall, I would recommend this outlet if you're stopping by through Bloomington, Indiana. The prices are fairly reasonable, and Track's catalog of music is above average.

As of now, that is the only record store that I have managed to visit. I'll update this post as soon as I discover more stores and outlets, throughout my stay in Bloomington, Indiana.

Looking for a metal store that has shirts and plenty of them.

Most of what I listen to would fit into Metalcore, Melodic Deathcore, Melodic Death Metal, Progressive, Technical, and Djent. For a good idea of what I like, check out my 2 giant posts in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=80854 . Most of my favorite bands are there.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Do note that I have never been to a metal store and don't know any franchise names so there could be obvious ones that I don't know.

And please don't give me black metal or doom or whatever stores. While I appreciate the effort, you'd be wasting both of our time. I only want shirt from bands I like.

Thanks!

P.S. If you can, PM would be better as I may forget that I posted here.

I'll be traveling to northern England (Cumbria area), and I'm looking mostly for good second-hand CD stores in the area. I will also be traveling in Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh (Scotland) and possibly Glasgow so if you know any good stores in those cities please let me know, thanks!

I doubt Cumbria has anything its pretty rural, might find something in some of the large towns.

Manchester has Aflecs Palace which is pretty scene-ish but normally has a few good things. It's also worth having an explore of that area, I know that there are a few record shops around, never really given it a proper look. Across from Aflecs there is a large Oxfam i've found quite a few bargains in there.

I'm going to Serbia soon to visit my family. Does anyone know any metal stores in Belgrade, Zrenjanin (that's where I am going to) or Novi Sad? Not a mainstream store please, but one that sells doom/black/death would be good. Thanks.

If anyone needs this translated, let me know.

There's an amazing shop where I actually buy a lot of stuff, and I'm not even from there, called Lost Underground. It's the other side of Avenida dos Aliados. Then you have another cool shop that sells a lot of clothing, I can't quite remember the name of it but it's near São bento when you go towards the river. You have to turn right somewhere and it's a two floor shop, the first floor and the basement.

Enjoy! ;)

The only place I can think of is Pulp in the indoor shopping place. Its pretty shit though, mostly selling Emo/Pop Punk/Scene clothes, but it normally has a few Metal t-shirts mostly Metallica and Iron Maiden though. I reckon Chester has more places though, I always see Metalheads about when I go.

Any good ones around Nova Scotia, Canada? many of them who consider themselves "metal shops" (D-Tox, Rockworldeast, etc.) primarily sell false metal/punk bands

I went to Jackpot Records in Portland, Oregon today. Very sparse, not much there beyond some hipster metal. Plus they're fairly overpriced. About $15 per album. Silly when there's another better shop a couple of blocks over that has the same exact selection and then some for cheaper.

Let me say again, if you're ever in the area (portland, oregon), go to Anthem Records.

Sweet. Duly noted. Any good ones you like in Vancouver, WA (just across the river)?

The best place in Orlando would be Park Ave CDs on Corrine Drive. They are by far the store with the most metal, which isn't that much, but they do have all the good stuff. Lots of used CDs, books, vinyls, DVDs of all genres. And if there's a concert in town in one of the smaller venues, you can buy tickets there too. It's just a cool little store to visit. They also have listening stations all over the store. One is dedicated to all the new metal releases that week.

There's another store not too far from there called Retro Records on North Bumby Ave. They have lots of vinyl (new and used) but they are more of a regular store. Lots of memorabilia for sale (including a KISS gold record that I have my eye on). They do have the occasional metal rarities there though. I found "Cracked Brain" by Destruction there a few months ago, which I've never seen used down here EVER!

Enjoy the city while you're here!

While I'm aware that this is way too late, in case you ever head up to Manchester again I can recommend a place called the Vinyl Exchange. It's on Oldham Street, just up the road from Afflecks' main entrance (the bit with Cyberdog). Vinyl Exchange is a great little store that deals in both CDs and vinyl (duh), and has a pretty decent selection of metal in there. I recently picked up a second hand copy of Hell Awaits for £4; a bargain when you look at some of the online prices. Also, the basement has tons of old thrash vinyl. I've found everything from Metallica through to Forbidden down there. Anyway, don't get your hopes up too much, as I'm probably making it sound better than it actually is, but it's definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

Wow thank you so much Roch, I will visit all places now that I am here.
Los Angeles was a huge disappointment for metal shops besides Dark Realm Records.
Destruction is a primo find!
