I am not really into metal videos (because they tend to suck or be too funny) but I'm talking here about real masterpieces, One by Metallica is one of those, Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer is another one.
You know those kinds of vids when you can see your band playing, headbanging, and maybe some which may have a history behind. I was watching Vader's God is Dead and it is kind of funny but fine.

So which are your favorite music vids? and why?

I find everyone to be more or less the same. Band playing on random location trying to look badass.

Yeah I know. I was watchin zome Zyklon... The most randome location to play an industrial death metal song... And they looked just satupid there.

I mean videos in which the members of the band actually look badass. Not just trying to...

Dimmu's "Sorgens Kammer Del II" video is so cool. Very sinister and hardcore.

Also, (though I don't think these guys are on the archives,) I love The Acacia Strain's video for "Skynet." It's very funny, and they're willing to make fun of themselves a bit.

I don't know, I prefer an actual live performance instead. Like this:

I agree. It might be a little cheesy but that doesn't really bother me. What actually bothers me about it are the parts where it shows the singer's face trying to look rotten or something. Without those parts it would be just awesome. Oh, and too bad the song itself is pretty mediocre.

The best metal video I've seen must be the one for Green Machine by Kyuss. I've heard the band called their music desert rock or something, and after seeing that video I agree. One of the things that makes the vid so good must also be that it doesn't really look like a metal video. Not to mention it's also a kickass song even without the video.

Type O Negative - I Don't Wanna Be Me

This is one of the most hilarious music videos I've seen. You can tell they had fun making this one..with the cross dressing and all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp3SPPACIgs

Dismember - Dreaming in Red

Besides the fact this is an amazing song..the video is so..underground. Just like the sound of the song. The video blends perfectly with the music. A lot of Dismember vids are like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-9Pw50H7xM

I rather like very early My Dying Bride videos. Simple murky abstract imagery is a perfect visual accompanyment to Death/Doom

I am the Bloody Earth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyEopR5VBZA

Symphonaire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LTtU_a0kz4

I always thought Ensiferum's Ahti video was astoundingly well done for a metal band. In this case the song is actually sillier than the imagery.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDdUcu_oroM

Another where I found the imagery appropriate and appealing was Daylight Dies' Lies that Bind

I think Blut Im Auge by Equilibrium is one of the better ones. It was made by the vocalist (he also does some other film stuff, mostly commercials).

I have no clue why, but I'm in love with the half assed "I'm going to record our field trip to Norway dressed as Wizards" videos make-shifted by Immortal with stolen security cameras from Wal*Mart.

One of my favorite of all time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwoT9_StEfY
I remember watching this as a kid and crapping my pants for some reason.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsV0jxWrgRI
This one is so cheesy and funny. I can't say I like it that much but it is pretty unique for its time and the music is great.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap3vdUrPqUc
Last but not least, another one of my favorites.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu9Ycq64Gy4
More cheesy greatness.

I know no one probably enjoys this band here, but I like em. The song is Blitzkrieg by Deathstars. I'm not normally inclined to listen to that style of playing, but for some reason, this song really attracts me. Not to mention the video is fucking epic.

I don't know which video your talking about, but I doubt they're eating the wings the same way Behemoth is eating the wings.

EDIT: Psh, those wings are all clean and fluffy. Not metal enough.

The videocllip for Strapping Young Lad's Detox matches the atosphere and intensity of the song very well, I think. :headbang:

Though Immortal never did anything to me at all... behemoth somehows shows brutality in theirs! Eating wings I just saw it!!! Pretty metal, pretty evil, kinda perfect. The song is not as good...

That new Behemoth video is very amazing. The HD version is ace. Awesome scenery too, as well as some very appealing flesh...

Already loved "Ov Fire and the Void" before but this makes it even better.

My personal favourite is Burzum- Dunkelheit. It sums up the beatiful ambience of the track perfectly with the Nordic landscapes, ancient runes and being completely void of human interference. Other more obvious ones I love are the Immortal ones, "Bewitched" by Candlemass and "Soon to be Dead" by Dismember, simply because despite of what everyone says, the music is too good for me to not completely love the videos, regardless of how ridiculous they may seem to others.

It is a censored version on their official channel, and it's freaking hilarious. I've never heard of feather eating fetishism before. It's just as well it was entertaining, because the song is horrendously mediocre.

Cannibal Corpse's music video for "Devoured by Vermin" is awesome to me! It was freaking scary when I first saw it. I got creeped out. Also Behemoth has a couple good quality ones that are fun to watch. I found Amon Amarth's "Pursuit of Vikings" to be pretty cool. The sync headbanging in it was off the hook.

I particularly can't stand it when people think bands are sell-outs just because they have music videos. Making a music video does NOT mean your selling-out by any means. I mean artists like Dimmu Borgir have even been on MTV before and they are far from even coming close to sell-outs.
