I think by obscure he meant ultra underground kvlt home made black metal. I think bands like TH, Warbringer and Evile have a good chance at getting on his show.

And dave also once said he doesnt like "cookie monster" bands so I'd count out deathcore.

They have a song called Nuke the Cross. I'm sure he'd have a problem with that.

Anyway, what i've gathered from reading this thread is that Dave doesn't like

1) Obscure Crap (vast majority of metal bands)
2) Anything against Christianity (Most black/death)
3) "cookie monster vocals" (deathcore/death/some grind)

and also he has had feuds or issues with most of the more famous thrash bands...

Sorry but i'm not sure there ARE 10 bands that meet this requirement that anybody in the general public would honestly want to listen to. Dave Mustaine is about as metal as the all american rejects and creed. Actually the guys from Creed probably could put together a better radio show.

As long as Megadeth put out a good release, then I'm happy. Don't care what the man listens to. And neither should anyone else...except for the poor souls who have to watch Suicide Silence on tour with Megadeth.

I figure Immortal is about as inoffensive as you can get for black metal while still retaining the black metal sound. You could get away with playing more or less their entire discography; the same goes for any band on here. Even Therion, despite being death metal early on, was never big on satanism / shock lyrics.

None of the bands here really border on obscurity except maybe Primordial, but the other nine are extremely well known I feel, especially Black Sabbath. It also has potential to be extremely badass depending on which era of said band decides to come on.

What can I say, I was bored? =/

I am really confused on the whole point of what Dave is doing. If he's going to have his own radio station, they will have limitations and requirements for what kinds of bands can be played on the air, so that really negates this entire process, right? That also depends as well if it's a total metal radio station or some commercial radio station which will probably have metalcore and crappy rock in constant loop.

His whole attitude of "no obscure crap" probably goes hand in hand with... hey, Dave's a busy guy. He probably doesn't have a lot of time to sit around and seek out super obscure bands to see if they'll fit in the show or not. Asking fans removes a lot of the legwork, but the downside is that he's probably going to end up with a lot of literal fecal matter.

So yeah, I'm interested to see how this turns out, but I'm not really hopeful of the final results.

When it comes to metal I nearly only listen to obscure stuff Dave wouldn't listen to because he either hates their anti-christian image and 'cookie monster vocals', or because he has some kind of feud with them.

Thing is, Dave could probably list 95% of the bands currently being recommended on UG. So its not like the fans are doing him a huge favour anyways. I mean, half of the stuff thats being listed is on Roadrunner Records, right?
