So most of us know that Beherit are releasing their first black metal album in 16 years. I would just like to start a bit of a discussion on what people want to hear, what they expect, what people hope for in the future.

They've done a pretty good job of keeping it leakless. I haven't heard anything.

To be honest, I think my favorite Beherit album is Oath of Black Blood. I love "Drawing Down the Moon", but I have to be in a very specific mood to put it on. Its a lot more common for me to just throw on the debut and spazz the fuck out to the chaotic, grinding, occult madness. I'm not going into this one with any expectations though, as it could honestly sound like anything at this point.

I know Marko has compared this album to the Lord Diabolus demo, but I haven't heard that. I don't find myself anticipating new releases that often these days, but this one really has the potential to be something special.

The Lord Diabolus demo sounds like a perfect link between TOoBB and DDtM.

as long as it's heavy as fucking hell I will worship it , NhV was quoted as we all know by now as saying The Lord Diabolous was the biggest influence on it . I worship anything he or they have done and cannot conceive of it being anything but an evil gruesome masterpiece . I just want to know who the fuck is pressing this on vinyl already???
You know what they should release after Engram , a fucking lyric sheet to every song (almost) . all these years I still don't have that many lyrics from them!!!!

There is a LP version that will be pressed on Spinefarm. Also a cassette version.

Fucking shit. :nono:

I was on a HUGE Beherit kick about 3 years ago and I never bought a damn one of their original recordings like I was planning to do. Now any of their origninal material will jump up to like $300 in price on eBay. Instead I had opted out to blow it all on collecting Thou Shalt Suffer, and that did not go as well as expected.

Man I was such an irresponsible collector back then...

I really don't think their stuff is that expensive.

Messe Des Morts is like $70
Dawn of Satan's Millenium is like $100
Oath of Black Blood is like $120
Drawing Down the Moon is around $150

All LP versions of course.

Their demos are around $50 each.

I hope to hear a mix of the oath of black blood and drawing down the moon. But I kind of wish they would release an ep just to know whats coming up. but full length sounds good too.

Both noble causes, don't worry about it. I am trying to get my hands on At the Gates/Grotesque demos myself.

I've been seeing a lot of Beherit at stores lately, some kind of compilation CD's. Can't remember the names for the life of me, but I imagine they are bootlegs.

Do you mean the original pressings? Because I found drawing down the moon at my local record shop for 21 bucks (im assuming it was a repress though ;))

I thought Behrit's frontman was no longer interested in metal when he got interest in electronic/techno and played as a DJ for that type of nonsense...

What makes him suddenly jump back into black metal again?

150 is for the original European release. there's always a rare find, though.

He gave a listen to some black metal in the past few years and went "hot damn!" before promptly deciding once again that black metal is fucking awesome.

Welcome back to the darkness Marco! :D

can't wait to hear the new stuff, the cover scream awesomeness, hope it's gonna be something atmospheric, like some sort of evolution from DDtM.

nb is speaking about the original vinyl pressings , forgot one though, split 7" w/ death yell around 80$
also if the l.p. you bought for 21 bucks is a gatefold sleeve then it is the 580 edition repress . the original was not a gatefold . it still goes for between 50 and 75$

Tomorrow they're having pre-listening parties in London and Helsinki. I'm also expecting a leak soon. I'm pretty pissed because my stereo is broken, hopefully I can get it fixed by the time Engram gets hear.

I'll be checking this out. In all honesty, I thought The Oath of Black Blood was terrible, but Drawing Down the Moon is alright and has some really cool material on it, so It'll at least be interesting to see how the new black metal work sounds. And if I like it, I'll pick it up. I might pick up Drawing Down the Moon, too.

Remember that the Oath of Black Blood is a demo and an EP. (brilliant ones at that). It's important to go into the listening experience not expecting a polished soundscape masterpiece like Drawing Down the Moon.

Yea I'm aware of that and was aware that it wouldn't sound too pretty. I just plain don't like it.

Demon Advance is also the longest Beherit song ever at 15:17.

Still no leak.

I've reported the band for a modification, but it seems like it wasn't accepted or I don't know what. But actually, Primitive Reaction AREN'T releasing the vinyl version, it's Spinfarm. Actually, Primitive Reaction are releasing the ambient album with H dots and numbers on vinyl, quantities unknown. If anyone can do the modifications. Source: Primitive Reaction website.

Nobody finds this funny?

When I heard Beherit was releasing a new album, I jizzed a little. Both "Oath..." and "Drawing..." were both godly albums to their own right. I don't doubt Beherit one bit.

Nah.. It's typical straight to the point Beherit. Much like Metal of Death, Hail Satanas, and everyone's favorite.... Werewolf Semen and Blood.

I'm also glad to hear that Nuclear Holocausto still hasn't mastered English. "Destroyer of Thousand Worlds."

So if I were to want to jump into Beherit, would it be a good idea to start with this album?

Well it has not yet leaked so we don't know how it sounds. Though they only have two metal albums -soon three- and the first isn't so good. That means listen to drawing down the moon.

Honestly, I just don't get what the hype over Beherit.
Oath was a mess. Just total shit musically.
Drawing was pretty cool, but nothing Samael hadn't done before... not a rip-off, mind you, but similar in terms of the mixture of doom and black metal, and the atmosphere.

Samael's Worship Him is kind of similar to Drawing Down the Moon, I admit. Beherit just did it better.

Bah, Worship Him sounds only marginally similar to Drawing Down the Moon.
