Almah - Birds of Prey, off Fragile Equality

Well done (if standard) Europower, with a tinge of neoclassicism on the lead department. Nice, but I still prefer Angra.

Toxik - Black and White

Giving this album another spin in light of the new Toxik news (well, not that the news is particularly exciting or anything). Anyways, absolutely fabulous tech/prog thrash metal. This song was always one of my favorites off the album. Absolutely stellar all the way through.

Rosetta – Shugyo / Austerity

the album starts well but it gets boring halfway through

Helheim - De Eteriske Andevesenes Skumringsdans

I don't see a lot of talk about this band, and I definitely think they need a little more love; fantastic viking/black metal very much in the vein of early Enslaved, but likewise distinct in its own right. Not just enjoyed, but overtly recommended. This track in particular has the most perfect female vocals, too.

Yes, you do want to give it a listen on YouTube.

Incubus - Night of Vengeance

Just got a hold of this old forgotten NWOBHM gem. It's pretty laid-back and bluesy, but it's got all the twin guitar goodness you could want.

Been on an Enslaved kick all day. I love the clean vocal passages on this song.

Some female fronted melodic power/gothic metal which is quite enjoyable.

Ocean Machine - Hide Nowhere

This is such an excellent album. Goes nicely with my relaxing Saturday and a coffee. I kind of still wish that Devin had another Ocean Machine album in him though, but it would be a big ask to top this impressive masterpiece.

It's a good album, but once you hear how sloppy the bass drums are, you can't un-hear it. ;) It's still some powerful death metal, though.

This may be their best one since Gore Obsessed, personally, so I hope you like it as much as I do.

Havohej - Kembatinan Premaster

I can't imagine this ever getting old. I hear no guitars in this - just vocals, drums, and some weird buzzing/droning in the background. Lo and behold, it works really well, and I've heard no other black metal quite like this. A fantastic album from start to finish, with the 10 minutes of "Melancholike" being my personal favourite.

overkill - bring me the night

Funny that one of the weaker tracks on the album was chosen as the lead-off single. Oh well, still a killer record.

Cephalic Carnage - Endless Cycle of Violence, from Xenosapien

Finally getting a chance to go through my Relapse grab bag and this was definitely a good choice to start with.... One song in and I can already tell my neck will be sore by the end of the album.

Black Tusk's Taste the Sin: Enjoyable early Mastodon worship. I love my sludge to be really agressive and punky, that's what you get with this album.

Opeth - Bleak

In an album full of amazing moments, the Steven Wilson verses in this song may just be some of Opeth's most amazing.

Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption

Not being a big Grind fan this has to be my favourite album by them, listening to In The Truth Be Known now and love that riff from 3:10 onwards, the way it comes back in is just so head bangable. Love the production on this album too, it's not too shiny or anything but not too dirty either. Everything is mixed very well. In my non grind loving opinion ND's finest hour.

Not my house. I'm not sure the 'rents or the HOA(the bastards...) would approve of such a thing. House shows aren't unheard of though; it's fairly easy to set them up if a band is going on tour through your town.

Kylesa - Exhale

This is... something I'm going to have to listen to a lot before I can begin to call it anything. It's relatively fun, certainly, but I'll have to see if it grows on me.

Some of the best recreations of pulpy old school sounds out there. Amazingly fucking awesome.
