Katatonia - Deadhouse

Recently I've listened to this album a lot. Sounds good, but too repetetive and even too boring at times. ''I Break'' is probably my favourite song of the album.

This idea gets my full support. Lends an air of legitime posting to you post-whoring, you bastards.

Finntroll-Kitteldags

Fun stuff. Despite being the rather die-hard fan of this band that I am, I never really agreed with the common consensus that this album (Jaktens Tid) is their best. While it's fairly solid, the keyboards, vocals, and instrumentation can get repetitive at times. The following two albums (particularly Ur Jordens Djup, which I'd say is a masterpiece) do a much better job at variation and creative use of keyboards and song structure.

This song just makes you want to go to war. With anyone or anything.

It has been done twice before, with different threads, and twice has it met failure.

Defeatist! Comrade Political Officer PhantomOTO, shoot him!

It won't hurt to try, now does it? And it's not necessary to write much, a sentence or two would be nice.

The Skies Are Blackened.... Not By Clouds But Insects - Conducting From The Grave.

A very good up and coming technical death metal/deathcore band. The deathcore tag might turn many people off but these gentleman certainly know how to play their instruments and not abuse breakdowns :).

Sabbat - History of a Time to Come

This is a bloody good album. A classic. While they overdid the same on Dreamweaver, this one is excellently balanced, timeless and enjoyable. Recommended.

Goatwhore - Invert the Virgin

This is probably one of my favorites songs by them. However, I prefer a live version over the studio version.

Cosmic Atrophy - Cydonic Adulation

I was inspired by Napero's review to give this a listen. I wasn't really sure what to expect, as I hadn't heard anything by Cosmic Atrophy yet, and never quite got into Demilich as much as I had hoped (although Timeghoul still get regular spins). Bottom line? This is pretty fucking awesome. I was cynical enough to think that with all the praise there had to be some M-A coddling going on, but this really is just a spacey, twisting, beautiful death metal album...so far. The production sounded kind of thin, based on the review, but I guess expecting the worst paid off. Its actually coming across as very cavernous on my shitty work speakers. The vocals are also better than I expected, deep and resonating without being completely indecipherable. I'm probably going to end up giving this a run through on my real stereo in the car. Are copies still available?

great under-rated classic of early 90's death metal...

Apparently melancholic folk+ gothic = why didn't I check these guys out years ago? Amazing music.

Armoured Angel - Crucifiction

Read AA's name in an Ignivomous interview, listening to tracks off a myspace page. Nicely crushing death metal, thick sound.

I'm loving this proggy black-ish/yet still able to chill out to-style metal. Any suggestions for similarity would be greatly appreciated. :nods:

Np: Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea

About a year ago, this was the album that made me hate funeral doom.
A year later, and I am really enjoying this album and the whole style.

I don't know, I still think Thorgrim could've sung much better (and by this I mean more extreme, alien and undecipherable), but he seems to be satisfied with those results, so...

A Haudiga Fluag- Lunar Aurora

Amazing song, 21 minutes in length from their split with Paysage d'Hiver. Crafted brilliantly with a melody repetitive throughout the song amongst the standard guitar fuzz, drowned out tortured vocals, and thick layers of synth. Samples throughout the song even make it interesting. I would say this is Lunar Aurora at their best.

...And Oceans - The Symmetry Of I - The Circle Of O

First listen, and it's pretty good. Too bad I didn't get the 2nd CD with it, because I would've loved to have heard the industrial ambient stuff, but not to worry.

"Beginning of the End" -
Amebix

I'm starting a sort of Crust Punk/Black Metal band with a few friends and we take a lot of influence from the early stuff like Amebix, Concrete Sox, early Bathory and Mayhem's Deathcrush ep. Should be a really fun project once it gets going.

To be frank I'm pleased with how it turned out as my debut. I know I can do much better now, even. I've been practicing and I've improved my technique a lot. Yes in retrospect of course it could be better, but it's what I was able to do at that time. So it's no big deal to me :) Just a learning process of course.

Yep, it's been on sale for a couple of months. No idea how long they will have it at that price, however.
