^Meshuggah doesn't sound anything like Demilich to me. I've seen this comparison a few times before and it's always baffled me.

Loszeal - Ideal World

It's a pretty great progressive metal epic.

Falconer - Stand In Veneration

I have no idea why I haven't listened to more than 1-2 Falconer songs.

Almost done listening to Diabolical Conquest after going through the first 3 as well. Is Incantation the peak of death metal? If I had to give Martians one death metal CD, I think this band would make the best impression on them.

Falkenbach - Donar's Oak

That acoustic guitar that plays after the second chorus is the comfiest melody I've ever heard.

:headbang: I love that one! After I got used to the vocals, I sort of discovered how solid the songwriting is. It's very dense, sort of like De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas at times, and filled with atmosphere.

Vanum - Realm of Sacrifice

Pretty good. And the layout/presentation is great. Gonna have to pick up a copy for sure.

UnSun - Whispers

I'm a total sucker for ultra poppy Gothic metal nonsense like this, and it helps that this band is oozing atmosphere with both the song and the perfectly fitting video.

Rainbow - Tarot Woman

Rising is the greatest album ever, in terms of feeling and musicianship. In Rock and Long Live Rock'n'Roll come close, but not quite.

Sodom - Tapping the Vein

When it comes to thrash metal this is probably my favorite album. Still floors me how heavy some of the songs are, I remember the first time I heard this still. Need more thrash metal with this sound.

Vader - Chaos

Still one of the best Vader albums out there. In my books really only behind the last two and Litany.

I really need to pick up that album one day. I only recently started to pay more attention to Rainbow and picked up their first album on vinyl at a flea market. A bit battered unfortunately but did enjoy it.

飛玲仙 - 悠

Definite Onmyo-Za influence. Definitely more "underground" sounding and heavier in the riff department. Has a weird "ghostly" feel to it. They still need a bit of work before hitting the big leagues, but this a marked improvement over their debut. Nice vocals - reminds me of Nozomi (Perpetual Dreamer), come to think of it.

Pagan Altar - Myth & Magical

That unique vocals thread just set me off on a huge Pagan Altar/Viking era Bathory kick. How fucking good is this album? Still can't believe that Terry Jones passed. :(

Royal Hunt - A Life to Die For

Cool album. This band has a unique sound, barely even really metal, with a heavy focus on keys but not in some faux-symphonic way like a lot of lame bands do. Instead it's just catchy keyboards over rather majestic, pomp-rock stuff...it's very chilled out and cerebral, but also vibrant and catchy. Interesting music.

'Sinister Recollections' by Varathron from the bandcamp preorder, can't wait for the other two new tracks and the live material on the EP when it's out. This track has grown on me a lot... great mix and lots of good riffs in true swampy style.

Chthonic - Bloody Waves of Sorrow

It's a shame they really don't play much off Mirror of Retribution anymore. It's their best album.

Emperor - 'Into The Infinity of Thoughts'

Truly, they should have stopped after their debut. Artistically, they couldn't improve on it at all.

Atlantean Kodex - Enthroned in Clouds and Fire

The most nuanced song about the apocalypse I've ever heard. A Bathory tribute with great depth and scope. I love this whole album.

I should listen to this too.

Intro (Sorrera) (by Aiumeen Basoa) from (2001) Triarchy Of Vasconia - Iluntasunaren Itzulera.
That's how it starts!

Primal, filthy subterranean murky goodness. Death metal bliss.

Comme Le Son Du Cor Est Triste Au Fond Des Bois! (by Hanternoz) from (2012) Anjoutik Euskalerrira - Hellequinen Ehiza Arras Haundiya.

Coroner - Pale Sister

Mental Vortex is where it all comes together for Coroner: catchy-as-all-fuck thrash with great choruses and solos, lots of precise musicianship, and finally some good production values!

Manilla Road - The Courts of Chaos

Had almost forgot this album. The synths - fucking great. The drums - not so much. But they alone can't spoil the enormous feeling this album has. Right now my favorites are the last two songs, The Prophecy and The Books of Skelos.

They were great at Hellfest some years ago.

Tragedies Blows At Horizon from (1999) Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter and it sounds "quite slow" now?!?
I prefer old, chaotic, Immortal.

wrathprayer - the sun of moloch

vicious sounding black metal, dark and relentless so far. vocals almost sound too reverbed but i'm definitely loving the atmosphere here, some intense sounds going on.

Well, its actually a slower and more melodic album, but clearly more epic. It depens on your mood to choose between this one and Pure Holocaust, for example.

Did you like Silencer? man, one needs to get used of these vocals, my godness... :D

Nile-Black seeds of Vengeance

I could spent the hole morning listening to this track.

My favourite one is (1993) Immortal - Pure Holocaust as I find later albums too "heavy metalesque".
And listen to (1997) Immortal - Blizzard Beasts because it has his own charm.

I did NOT say so.

My first and possibly, to this day, most loved Nile album. I used it to test my first great car sound system YEARS ago!

Core Chant (by Meredith Monk) from (2014) True Detective - OST by T-Bone Bournett.
Sounds like from Eyes Wide Shut.

I do not like Blizzard, I tried but I cant.

About Silencer, I thought that you were going to listen to them. So I was asking if you liked/have liked it.

It's another kind of Immortal album. They're a pretty diverse band.

Paganbasque wrote:

I'll will but didn't have the time yet. I'll tell you about.

Edit: Taklamakan from (2001) Silencer - Death - Pierce Me.
It was alright till I reached the midsection in Sterile Nails And Thunderbowels. That sounds retarded.
Anyway, I like what I hear and it's not so different to (1995) Fleurety - Min Tid Skal Komme, for example.

Mysterium by Temple of Baal. Got distracted by Varathron's new song and their older, harder to find stuff going up on Bandcamp (everybody check out the song 'Fire Hunt' - swampy goodness!) when I should have been listening to this but now I'm making time. Really like it actually. At first I thought it didn't really stack up to the previous two (three if you include the amazing tracks on the 2011 split) but it quickly grew on me.

Currently on 'Dictum Ignis'. The first four songs and the last one are my favourites though.
