Rush - "Cinderella Man"

While AFTK is my least favorite album from Rush's prime, I still adore it. I never hear people talk about "Cinderella Man", probably because most people don't give it a chance due to its title. Nevertheless, it's one of my favorites on the album.

I've been enjoying that song a lot lately. It's just one of the deep cuts on the album - but yeah it rules. Farewell to Kings is one of my favorite albums they ever did too.

I like 2112 a bit more, and the next bunch a lot more, but I would've loved to hear maybe another albums worth of material in the vein of A Farewell to Kings. I consider Hemispheres to be their absolute peak (and the best album of all time, but that's just me) but I really liked how deep the instrumentation was on Farewell to Kings. All of the bells, chimes, and the double necks by Ged and Alex - just totally awesome. The sheer amount of music going on in "Xanadu" is just breathtaking.

I'd have to say I think 2112 is a bit better then Hemispheres, but both albums are Rush at peak of their creativity. Agreed with the rest of this though.

I was mesmerized by 2112 for the longest time, even before I heard Hemispheres. Such a brilliant album. Hemispheres just clicks with me like no album does, I love it  Either way, I've always liked how Rush fans always have their own favorite album, it's not just all "oh this is their best and the rest are good, but nothing like the best" like it is with some other bands. Each Rush fan kind of has their own favorite album, I've always thought that was cool. On a side note, a Testament fan and a Rush fan? I approve! :headbang:

:np: Ambush - Desecrator

This never gets old, I always get a kick out of blaring this beast of an album. These guys are still my absolute favorite modern metal band.

The first song on Hemispheres is so amazing. But overall I like Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures better than that one and 2112. More compact songs and a bit less oriented around huge epics, which I prefer. Their albums after that like Signals and GUP are also classics.

That lines up with what I was saying, every Rush fan's got their own faves. Glad to see you give some props to Signals and GUP. Signals is waaaay up there for me among my favorites. GUP is very underrated, it has some sub-par songs when compared to the older material, but there is still some great stuff to be found. "The Enemy Within" in particular rules on so many levels; it's one of my favorite bass lines too. I cherished the day I learned how to play that start to finish with no mistakes. Even though I do enjoy a lot of GUP, Power Windows doesn't click with me very much at all, and it's my least favorite Rush from the 80's.

Gorguts - Pleiades' Dust

I'm really starting to understand this EP with more and more listens. It's still a lot to digest mainly because it's a 33 minute song, as opposed to a33 minute album with multiple songs. The atmosphere on here absolutely immense because of those clean sounding guitar and the eerie, droning sounds. It's magnificent, and so is the cover and title font.

I don't either  I have a buddy who is crazy into it, and she shows me all kinds of cool uspm stuff. That's how I ran into Crimson Glory, check out Transcendence - it's just as good if not better than the debut.

"Breathe Awhile" -
Arcadium

Way old school Prog album, where heavy Blues driven Rock and Roll started sounding more and more like what Yes sounded like in their prime.

Paradox - Manhunt

Probably my favorite from the new album so far. Mechanical, oddball riffing intertwined with bludgeoning rhythms. Their newer stuff (esp. this) always gave me a dystopian, futuristic vibe.

I love that about Rush fans also, most of their discography (especially their mid 70s to early 80s work) is just fantastic, and is hard to pick a favorite because most of their albums are pretty much all close to or on the same level of how good they are, which makes every fan have a different favorite album. Rush is one of the few bands that can be said about, if you ask me.

The title track is surely one of the winners. Mother Russia is good, but not Alexander the Great good. Some decent rockers here and there, nothing spectacular, and some basic rulers that are typical for Maiden. Propably a 85% album for me.

I don't know if I can get excited about this as much as I loved Colored Sands, but perhaps it needs a few more listens before making my final judgement. It's definitely a strong EP regardless, though. :)

Hate Eternal - Infernus

Hyper blasting death metal. This one is probably more overtly frantic and brutal than anything they've done since King of All Kings. It's taking a while but I really like this. It will certainly not surpass I, Monarch, but it's a worthy addition to their discography.

Kozeljnik - Death Gives Way To Life

Nice EP.
They're a kinda obscure and unique black metal band. They're one of those side projects that are better than the main band. The only album from The Stone that can go toe to toe with Kozeljnik is Nekroza

:np: Napalm Death - Diatribes

I'm actually digging this quite a bit. It is much better than the likes of '90s Sepultura or Machine Head. Maybe because it is actually properly heavy and has intense vocals to match.

Now now Dia, I don't like everything. Machine Head's music will always exist. :)

What a great song. Definitely one of my favorites by them. It isn't really upbeat, but more goth-happy- very similar to The Damned's songs "Grimly Fiendish" or "Is It a Dream". You should check those out.
