I like that album. It's my introduction to the band and I'll soon check their other 2 albums.

NP: Paradise Lost - Beneath Broken Earth

Absolutely massive and crushing with a good sense of bleakness to it. The rest of the album better be this good atleast.

Old Numen is the best!!! :headbang:
Opinions about Bann?

Eurovision?!? :durr:
Numen is great but the old folkie albums were amazing!
I did like the vocals but the song did nothing for me.

Tales from the Thousand Lakes should be required listening for anyone claiming to be a metal fan.

Best Amorphis album EVER! What a pitty they did not continue with the dark sound of the first 2 albums!

Building With Fire from (2015) Enslaved - In Times.
Listening for the first time to my own rip.

In Flames - Dead Eternity

Such an awesome track my favourite on the album.

Virgin Steele - Mind, Body, Spirit

Smoldering, bone-grinding riffage. Prolly my favorite on Invictus - such a heavy, driving album from these guys.

Slaegt - Ildsvanger

Giving this a first listen and I'm really getting into it. A bit punky, with some great riffs and raw production. The vocals are recorded a bit amateurishly, but the riffs are good so it doesn't matter! I might draw comparisons to Darkthrone, Taake, or Horna.

Incubus - Beyond the Unknown

Beyond underrated early death/thrash

The debut is some of the most intense death/thrash you'll ever hear, and it's still my favorite. Children of the Night is a more melodic and cohesive take on the sound they switched to on Formulas of Death. All three albums are very good imo.

NP : Katavasia - Sacrilegious Testament

I can't get enough of this album. The blend of melody and aggression in the riffs is righteous

Akercocke - Axiom

It takes a special band to pull off blast beats over acoustic guitars. This whole song is fucking nuts but absolutely perfect.

This is killer. I have yet to find a flaw in this EP, highly recommended.

Helrunar - Niederkunfft

It took me a little while to get into this album because of the drop in pace when compared to Sol, but it's since clicked with me. It's fantastic mid paced black metal.

Virvatulet - Sodan Roihuava Aamunkoitto

See ya, I'mma go buy some real estate in the BM Rec Thread. This song is fantastic; i'm getting lost in the driving-yet-hazy riffs and melodies. Thanks to iamntbatman for that one.

Paradise Lost - Flesh from Bone

Raw and filthy with a furious main riff that makes the verses the fastest moments this band have ever done. Absolutely incredible. :headbang:

The instrumental track, When the Walls Fell is straight up classic rock done brilliantly.

Few things beat Arch-era Fates Warning for me. The whole thing is just so dreamlike and adventurous.

Virgin Steele - Twilight of the Gods

Love the crazy drumming in this one - up to "Strawgirl" this is basically a perfect album.

edit: Eh, it's all pretty much perfect.

Circle II Circle - Watching In Silence

This album is such a logical continuation of Savatage. Much better than Poets & Madmen.

"Se Hace por los Suenos Asesinos" -
Corrupted

If someone asked me recommendations for Japanese Punk groups I probably wouldn't namedrop Corrupted to start off, they're the polar opposite of groups like G.I.S.M. who tend to be the go-to. Rather than being blistering fast, noisy, chaotic Hardcore Corrupted are far more temperamental. Highly recommended.

Graveland - River of Tears

That folky chanting at 6:07 sounds like Vinterblot from Nordland I (Bathory).

One of my favorite songs. That band is way ahead of their time, I gather - people will look back and see them as brilliant later as much as they do now.

Played the new Helloween in the car - really fucking fun album, despite the fact that I know they can make a way better one which is frustrating. But it's good. Better than the last two overall.

King Diamond - The Trees Have Eyes

I used to think House of God and Abigail II: The Revenge were inferior King Diamond albums, but there's a lot good in them. This song alone makes my ass freeze. Great storyline also. Might be my fave from King right now.

Oh shityeah, "The Trees Have Eyes" has one of his most unforgettable choruses. House of God has a great story and a really interesting vibe overall. Not the best KD album musically but there are plenty of strong songs and a few really standout pieces, like the title track and "The Pact." Even all the relatively weaker songs have something in them that's great. Definitely the strongest KD post-Voodoo, I'd say.

Sodom - Agent Orange

Holy crap. This is the epitome of German Thrash, and certainly one of the finest thrash albums ever. Sounds like Slayer, but with more complex riffs, less spastic solos and a vocalist with an accent. That title track grabs the listener by the throat, and then they are off!

Power Quest - For Evermore.

I'm not a big fan of the band or this specific album, but this is amazing.

Lustre-Blossom part 3

This song is probably the most memorable track created by Lustre. The new album sounds good but taking into account this track I was expecting more.

Right now I think HoG is the best King Diamond story closely followed by the The Puppet Master. Maybe someone should do a topic about favorite KD story. Maybe I'll do it myself...

Esoteric Warfare is worth getting, especially if you like Ordo Ad Chao (not as strange as that record, but has the same feeling in places)

Absolutely, it's a favorite of mine as well, even though the competition the song faces is tremendous.

NP: Guardians of Time - Standing Tall

I'm pleasantly surprised by the strenght of this album. It's really good.

Yup, "Telepath" and "Red Honor" are very close. Every song on the album is good.

Mercyful Fate - The Oath

Man, I wish some of these Mercyful Fate revival acts like Portrait and Amulet could make something even half this good. Hooks, atmosphere, grandiosity - it's fucking perfect, and bands that imitate it just don't come close.

Raintime - Another Transition

I miss this band, and wish that more bands would mix power metal with melodeath in this fashion. I've yet to find another band that sounds similar to these guys.

Pantera - Power Metal

This album is a surreal experience. Phil is actually SINGING, and well! The songs aren't stagnant groovers, and they are not acting all tough!

...What happened to these guys?

Hypocrisy - Paled Empty Sphere

This song is really tame compared to the rest of the album and earlier Hypocrisy albums.. I love the calmness and melodies though..
