Visigoth - Blood Sacrifice

I'm a bit late on this, but damn does it kick ass.

deathspell omega- abscission

Probably one of the most beautifully evil songs ever. Love this part with the brief clean. Reminds me actually of the Diablo II soundtrack quite a bit.

Wodensthrone-Battle Line

I clearly prefer the debut but this sophomore album is slowly growing on me thanks to great songs like this one. Anyway I miss the keys of the debut.

Graupel - Am Pranger...

I haven't listened to this album in a long time and almost forgot how good it was. This is black metal of the highest quality

Yep. Couldn't agree more with this. Quality slab of black metal, kind of why I bought it on both vinyl and cd because I rate it very highly. In fact...

Graupel - Shwarze Feder

Amazing, pummeling trance-like atmosphere. The slowly plucked, almost bass notes of the clean guitar add so much extra weight here. Fantastic. And those vocals... awesome.

Der Weg einer Freiheit - Repulsion

I had to give Stellar numerous chances; I don't know why really because what I remember from their earlier material was almost instantly engaging. Not this one. But it's all starting to sink in. I love the clean guitar intro to this song.

Severoth - Winterfall (whole album)

Found this on YouTube. Amazing stuff. Recommended if you like ambient black metal, like Paysage D'Hiver.

I picked that up when it was released. Only listened to it once since then, but it didn't really catch so to speak. I'll have to give it another listen later today.

NP: Gorgoroth - Instincus Bestialis

I actually dig this album quite a bit. Gonna have to get the CD sometime this summer.

^I will admit to only being on my 2nd listen, so it might wear off, but for now, I am in love! The Darkthrone cover in particular was a nice ending to the whole album.

Kalmah - They Will Return

One of the first metal albums I ever bought, glad younger me had at least some decent taste. The Kokko brothers are probably the most underrated guitar duo in metal.

I picked up Stellar on the back of Einkehr appearing on a Zero Tolerance cover disc. Took a while to get into just like your experience - I'll have to get some of their earlier stuff to really get the hang of them I suppose ?

Evoken - Atra Mors - Descent into Chaotic Dream.

Truly an epic band, just falling asleep to this album gives me crazy dreams.

I feel the same way about Stellar, it's definitely a bit... different(slower? I dunno, it's been a while since I listened to it), still great as far modern sounding black metal goes, I feel like Repulsion was sort of a weird track to open the album up with, probably my least favorite track on the album.

Skinless - Serpenticide
I really had my hopes up for Trample pt.2, which is pretty impossible after that nearly 10 year hiatus. Still, pretty good overall.

Visigoth - Iron Brotherhood

This track was kinda letting me down, but then it hit the 4-minute mark. I shouldn't have doubted you!

I wouldnt tag Stellar as a slow album, its quite fast with a few exceptions. The initial song is quite different but the rest is a logic evolution of their sound. I started to appreciate this album after I saw them on a concert, they are truly amazing.

Graveworm-Stillborn

They are fran from being the amazing band of the first three albums but the new one seems to be a step in the right direction.

Jute Gyte - Ship of Theseus

Hmmmn... this isn't even music anymore. I'll have to give it more listens to investigate what's going on here, but this guy needs to slow down a bit.

Ares Kingdom - Ashen glory

Incendiary is an all time favorite of mine. Though I doubt I'll ever be able to pick a favorite track.

Six Feet Under - Death Rituals

Hell, I'm starting to like this band again.
It reminds me of a simpler time, when I was content with playing UT 2K4 and listening to Death Metal while literally slaughtering thousands, minimum 6 festivals per year and a circle of metal friends. A time before mushrooms, pseudo-philosophical life approaches and my fucking long year job ruined my head. Now I want to find a way return to this simplicity. Thanks Chris!

I don't think it's slower. Actually, it seems better composed in a way. The opener is a good example of a really slow burner, with that interesting initial build up, which is also excellent when it gets going. Just the right opener in my opinion.

NP: Circle of Dead Children - Avatar of Innocence

Oh hell yeah, skin peeling session is in progress!

Midaftann from (2014) Sólstafir – Ótta (Deluxe Edition) CD1.
Very well done and elegant music.

I gave it another listen and was pleasantly surprised. Sort of a Burzum meets Paysage d'Hiver type of thing. Good stuff!

Death Fortress - Mirror Into Eternity

I dunno why this didn't really catch on for me when it was still available. Vicious, Hate Forest styled black metal ist krieg. Now I have to go track it down!

Edguy - Pandora's Box

I remember being fucking awestruck by this when I first heard it. Dig the bluesy verses and the big Meat Loaf-esque chorus.

Volahn - Aq'Ab'Al

This is the definition of a diamond in the rough. I love how glorious melodic sections just pop up in the middle of some aggressive black metal. Beautiful music covered in shitty production.
Still a gem though...

Huh. One of the better things with Anselmo at the helm. I guess the musical aspects of The Great Southern Trendkill are found here.

Fates Warning - Fata Morgana

Awaken the Guardian only gets more brilliant the more music I hear. The songwriting is perfect and the performances dazzling and electric. What an utter masterwork.

Oz - Burning Leather

Nothing fancy, just quality straightforward heavy metal. Some old songs and some new, and both work very well. Ape doesn't look like a muscular warlord anymore, but oh well...
