Aled Jones - Walking in the Air

So beautiful. Watch it with the animation on YouTube for the full experience. Just stunning.

The Morningside - Immersion

The last time that I listened to this band before this song was with their debut album "The Wind, The Trees And The Shadows Of The Past" (which I really like), so this is a little surprising. I can see myself liking this, but I wasn't expecting such a different sound.

Saor - Aura (title track)

This song makes me happy. I can't remember the last time a song just made me smile.

Jimi Hendrix- Power of Soul

Hadn't listened to this song (or Hendrix in general) for years. I remember this song having a great chorus, but I forgot how good the rest of it was!

Vio-Lence - Atrocity

First time hearing this in a couple of years. God, those gang vocals are annoying.

Axis of Light - By the Hands of the Consuming Fire

Their newest EP is certainly a step up from this one, but I like it all the same. Noisy, raw as fuck, punk-minded, kinda melodic black metal. I know that sounds like a disaster, but the band totally pulls it off.

Graveland - King of Aquilonia

Yes, it is not very different from any other Graveland track, but it's a step above the rest, I think. Those choirs are epic!

Forbidden - As Good As Dead

First time I listen to this record - Forbidden Evil - in years. A Thrash gem. This and their second record (Twisted Into Form) are amazing.

If Jethro Tull released Aqualung thirty years later, this would be it.

Skinless- Trample the Weak, Hurtle the Dead

Standard growly-growly riffy metal. It's good, but not really all that standout.

Zyklon - Worm World

Killer album, and by far their best work.

I believe you mentioned it somewhere, my friend! Along with Gallowbraid :) I have a list of releases from Northern Silence that I have to get to....

Bathory - Sacrifice (Scandinavian Metal Attack version)

My favourite Bathory song and I think this version is way better than the album version.

Sarkrista - The Evil Incarnate

Damn, glad I remembered to look this band up again to see if they had anything new up, they're pretty prolific at writing (awesome) new stuff apparently, two splits and a rockin' new EP all within a year.

Tarot - Pyre of Gods

Still probably a top 10 song for me.

Skrømt - Sjelebrann

Gem of a record. Great pagan/black metal plus they have a tuba player in the band.

Octaviagrace "Resonant Cinema"

This would probably be my album of the year so far, but alas its only 5 songs/25 min long. More complex than I expected (thankfully). Rather dominant bass guitar (almost too dominant).

Kristallnacht - Warspirit

Awesome album, really. Giving this a listen after reading the latest stupid review for it. The keys are fucking great.

Overkill - Devils in the Mist

Only half-decent song on the pathetically bad Immortalis. How people considered this a return to form, even for the time (2007) blows my mind. I freaking loathe that exaggerated bluesy drawl Blitz milks 'til the cows come home on this album.

Been listening to a lot of Sodom lately, basically all their 80s material (which I love). Hearing Get What You Deserve (1994) for the first time now, and my first impression is that it's good -- more punk in its execution and harsher production than earlier records. It actually seems like they predicted what Darkthrone would do in the 00s, as far as going back to their roots. It also seems like the reviews of the record are pretty critical of this direction, and I often run into this when I get into a band's discrography all at once -- changes in a band's sound are usually met with disappointment, but seem not so extreme to me. To my ears, this updates the thrash template pretty well for the mid 90s, and even allows for a bit of death metal influence in the overall fury of the production, and sometimes the vocals.

I just put W.A.S.P. The Crimson Idol to play. Even though I've known W.A.S.P. works for many years, I never gave the proper attention to their post 80's records, and I'm willing to know their entire discography in deeper detail.

Scorpions - Born To Touch Your Feelings

Taken By Force is becoming my favorite Scorpions album. We'll Burn the Sky and The Sails of Charon are the true masterpieces, but the rest aren't far either.

Yes, I have a soft spot for cheesy ballads.

Kjeld - Skym

This sounds very promising. They're sorta influenced by Norwegian black metal.

Yeah, NS have started to release/sign with an worring amount of bands which I find very interesting which are terrible news for my pocket. :D

Keep of Kalessin-Animal Mund

Its quite enjoyable the last album, some great tunes and melodies and with much more vocals. No pure bm here but who cares if the music is good? I will see them with Melechesh next month!. :headbang:

My Dying Bride - The Dreadful Hours

Reading the lyrics and seeing what the song is about really makes it feel much more emotional.

Great album! I wish the guitars were a bit more prominent, but wouldn't change much else.

I think this is my 5th or 6th time listening to this album now. I love the guitar work.

Opeth - Damnation

Today is Mikael Akerfeldts bday so I'm celebrating by listening to one of their best (and softest) albums.

Taake - Stridens Hus

One of many albums I need to listen through, work has been a monster and next week is more of the same. The end of a 2 hour shift, a shower, a packed lunch, then bed.

King Diamond - The Lake

I think this is my favorite KD song, yes indeed it is...!
So catchy, impossible to not sing along!

Hehe, that's one KD bit I find myself humming more than almost any other, that and parts from "Night of the Unborn."

NP - Pseudogod - Deathwomb Catechesis

I wish the riffs and songwriting were better on this. It's got the atmosphere down perfectly but it's a little thin on good guitar ideas. Hopefully their next full-length will be more developed in that sense, whenever that happens.
