Listened to their discography today after being having them recced to me over Facebook (don't know the guy's MA name, or if he has one, unfortunately), and I must say, I was really impressed. Very solid funeral doom.

The Devil's Blood - On the Wings of Gloria

I bought this on a whim - this is the first time I've actually heard their music, and so far I like it.

The Winterway from (1997) Borknagar - The Olden Domain.
I prefer (1996) Borknagar - Borknagar but I'm in the mood for some Garm with more mellow music.

Tom Waits - Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis, off Blue Valentine

Beautiful, beautiful music. Perfect for sitting alone outside during the night, with a drink in your hand, and contemplate the stars.

Great stuff, indeed. Ritual Fires is a quality album, heard they recently got back together as well.

Testament - Legions of the Dead, off The Gathering

Most intense Testament track ever? Hell yeah. It almost sounds like Vader, and the fact that no less than Dave fucking Lombardo is behind the kit only helps to amp up the brutality.

That whole album is fantastic - I'd not noticed the Vader similarity before, but I definitely see it now. Which inspires my next listening-choice;

Vader - The Code

Piotr's vocals are definitely among my favourite in death-metal.

Mweh, I find those ''heavy'' Testament songs to sound very forced. Like they really tried to hard to sound brutal but their hearts weren't into it. They were far better when they played basic thrash with high vocals as on The Legacy. Chuck's harsher vocals sound pretty lame I think.

NP: Paradise Lost - Honesty in Death

Great! One of my favourites off the new album.

Sounds good, i'll check attacker out soon. Vocals sounds a bit like Mike Sanders of Toxik.

I just played this classic:

For me it's completely the other way around; their plane thrash material sounds very phony and by the numbers, while the more destructive sound they went for during Low and The Gathering (haven't heard Demonic yet, and don't know if I should) is pure mayhemic bliss to my ears. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Morbid Angel - Invocation of the Continual One, off Formulas Fatal to the Flesh

It's a colossal piece the one Trey and the guys got down here. The songwriting is delicious, and the guitar playing pure vintage MA. Terrific.

Holy Terror - Mind Wars

Every single good feature metal ever had combined into one album of fucking awesome thrashing riffs and menacing anger.

nice pick, great album, i find all antaeus albums very high quality black art. I personaly have not been listening to much black metal lately been on a old school death metal kick that just hasnt stopped in a few weeks.

But today i listened to both full lengths from Bestial Warlust, and think i will follow the tradition with some Destroyer 666 unchain the wolves..another classic album

Too bad this band/project seems to have falled between the cracks. But this demo/e.p. is really damn good.

My first and still favourite MA album.

Have been listening to (2012) Borknagar - Urd (Limited Edition).
Not bad but I still can only listen to the first 2 albums.

Motorhead - Back at the Funny Farm

This could shape up to be one of my favourite Motorhead albums, if all of the tracks are this good.

Wombbath - Lies After Cries of Hope

I just found out about this band through the mini-review game... some great shit. Maybe except for the Lavatory EP... I have to keep reminding myself I'm listening to Wombbath and not Suicidal Tendencies.

This album has been easier to digest than Revelations - I think I'm on the way to being a Vader fan.

Solstice - The Man Who Lost the Sun

I love the title, and the song is probably my favourite from the Lamentations album - the chorus has a gorgeous melancholy to it.
