Mike Lepond's Silent Assassins - Ragnarok

Quite good an album with a couple of really interesting twists. Tecchio also shines through like he has never shone before, at least in my opinion.

The Locust - AOTKPTA. Usually I'm not too fond of this kind of music, but The Locust is something I can appreciate.

Project Arcadia - Here to Learn

Nimble, technical riffing and Urban breed's inimical vocals - what more could ya want?

edit: second song is even better. Oh yeah this is gonna be good. I will say though, that I hope he doesn't keep doing these melodic metal projects with the exact same production job and style for too long; it risks stagnation after a period...

OK, well the later tracks veer into a more proggish rock/metal hybrid with surprising song structures and interesting keys/guitar interplays. Really cool stuff.

Fatal Violence - Friday the 13th, off Ashes Tell No Tales

Some really fucking demented metal here, full of venomous, screechy vocals a la Bobby Blitz and scorching riffs. Bit rough around the edges, but it works like a charm.

Alice in Chains - A Looking In View
I think the number of spins I've given this BGWTB album doesn't do justice to how good it actually is. More listens henceforth! I still need to listen to their latest too.

Pain Of Salvation - The Perfect Element I

My favourite so far. Also the first album by the I listened to. God, I hope they release TPE3 soon.

Antediluvian - Through the Cervix of Hawaah

Decided to revisit this album since I recently reviewed their second album. I'm actually kinda disappointed by this. I was hoping for something that conjures up the same feeling that Logos does, but it just doesn't.

Logos is swirling primordial murk straight from the ninth stomach of Baal, and I love every moment of it. I think "Cervix" is a very nice album as well; I don't think I will ever get bored of the title track. But I agree that it has nothing on Logos. At least this is clear indication that they're progressing when it comes to quality.

Dodsengel- "Lucifer Ascendant"

A trance inducing riff and eerie chanting. What's not to love?

Autopsy - Severed Survival

Classic! Steve DiGiorgio bass really shines on this album. With the exception of the shit album, these guys' discography is flawless imo.

Dead End Angels from (2000) Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Sunset Mission.
This and the previous song melt together PERFECTLY to finish the album:

P.D: We have been having hot weather in the mornings and storms in the evenings for quite some days here.
Yesterday we where driving some mountain roads while we could see the storms hitting the mountains in front of us.
And I was just hypnotized staring at this beauty!

Bathory - A Fine Day to Die

Blood, Fire, Death is probably the "classic" Bathory album I neglect most, which is odd; despite generally having to make a contrived effort to listen to it, I enjoy it a lot.

Marduk - The hangman of Prague.

After having been forced to listen to some random whimpy stuff I needed to get a proper ear-destruction. This song never fails to bore me, I really like it.

Darkthrone - Soulside Journey

Some wicked death metal.

Thorns - Thorns

Only my second listen (and it's been a while) but damn this has some great riffs.

Slow - "Drowned I:Stem" from Unsleep

I find this to be good music to drift off to. I lay back, put on my headphones, and let this take me on a trip into unconsciousness.

Mourning Forest/Sad - And Nothing Shall Remain

You won't find too many lengthy splits with the quality of songs these two bands have on offer here. Top notch Black Metal

Phobocosm - Knives In The Senate House

Looking forward to my copy of the Deprived album to hit my mailbox very soon, but there are a couple of tracks on YT to sample, and I like it. Heavy, menacing, churning dark death metal - good stuff indeed.

Mysticum - All must end

Loving the new album! Remind me why this wasn't released a couple of years after "In the streams of Inferno"...

Decapitated – Blood Mantra

I am disappointed. This is a very weak album.

Nokturnal Mortum - In the Fire of the Wooden Churches

This album is growing on me. I still think the symphonic black metal parts are chaotic and messy, but the folk music is so fucking catchy. Bands with anti-Christian and NS lyrics should not be so enjoyable! 5:28 until the end. First the female vocals and then launches into one of the greatest folk metal moments.

NP: Central Disposal [Central Disposal, 2014] - 2. Holocene Extinction (01:24/04:40) {193 kbp/s}
I wasn't expecting this band to rip off Exodus this much. Hell the vocalist even sounds like Zetro

Infestus - The Reflecting Void

More great Atmospheric Black Metal in the year 2014, production may be a little clean for some peoples tastes but I think it works in this case. Album artwork is incredibly generic, which is a shame. Really strong vocals here, which isn't usually a strong point for acts like this. It's clear the musicianship is good and the atmospheric elements aren't just a cover for a lack of talent.

I think (2000) Nokturnal Mortum - NeChrist is one of the albums by them I listen to less.

Epitome XVI from (2012) Blut Aus Nord - 777 Cosmosophy.
Amazing band! So many different styles!

A great keyboard solo and the final chorus is really beyond ace.

Melechesh - Sacred Geometry
Loving this album. Epigenesis is probably one of their best efforts. This song is mid-paced, it has a strong middle-eastern tune running through it (duh!) and some cool vocal harmonies.

Tortorum - All Mercy Devoured

Fucking blistering, furious and downright raging black metal, infused with enough rank elements of darkly shining, fetid bliss to keep one well and truly entranced through the whole journey. Getting a similar eerie sense of the German Ascension, but that only adds to it for mine. Great stuff here, and the sophomore album Katabasis is even better!

Project Arcadia - Beggars at the Door

Pretty wild guitarwork with a rather AORish chorus - great song.

Skitsystem - Human Waste

I'll take Tomas Lindberg fronting Skitsystem over At The Gates any day. This kind of utterly sick and filthy crust fits his vocal style so much better.

Same. But I has found itself on my playlist more often these days. It's the production that kills it: guitars, bass, drums, vocals and keyboards are all at max volume, fighting for space. So the actual songwriting is hidden, but once you listen past the chaos, you'll find good performances and good songwriting. The folk section are catchy as hell. Give it another try :)

I think NM's Weltenschauung/Mirrovozrenie pulls off their "bouncy folk" phase quite a bit better; great album on the whole.
