Pallbearer - Given To The Grave

"On the path which leads into oblivion
Where no more sorrow can weigh me down"

That is seriously some chillingly heavy shit...

now on "Fuck Off and Die", nice fun speed metal.

I should probably listen to this album, as the title is very high on my list of favourite album titles ever.

Metal Messiah - Honour Among Thieves

Very underrated album. One of the best UK thrash offerings every. Punk intensity, NWOBHM-ish riffing at times and total energy. Love it!

This is underrated, even though I do prefer De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

Decapitated - The Negation

You can tell the well of riffs and songwriting was running dry by this album, but I think there's just enough to make it interesting. :) Their ultimate shift to next album was necessary, and a good one. Shame that they've had some shit thrown on them in recent times with the deaths and fan derision of Carnival is Forever, but that's how it is. As it is, The Negation is still really cool, and the opener "The Fury" is one of the better tracks on here.

It's basically a violent yet slightly humourous song about overthrowing democracy, the lyrics having been written by Famine of Peste Noire.

"I have hooligan blood, and the spirit of an elitist
With a knife or a stick, I will cross you off the list"

Great album, I own the tape version. I prefer the lyrics of the other songs though, I'm not a fan of Famine :/

Having zero knowledge of french sucks these times, as I'm a big fan of both Akitsa and PN and google translating the lyrics doesn't do them justice.

By coincidence I just put on Nightfall myself. Samarithan is the only post-EDM song that I would put on par with that album. I wish more doom metal attempted that kind of uplifting majesty.

Before: Pensees Nocturnes - Nom D'une Pipe!

This is a very interesting album. Probably contains the least amount of black metal - or metal in general - than their other releases. Instead there's an array of other instruments that take up a large portion of the album, meandering it's way through. The closing track is not something you'd hear on a metal album, either, but they make it work. For those that love very unusual black metal with many other influences in it, definitely pick up this album.

Now: Gorefest - False

After that bizarreness, it's time for something a little straighter. :) I think I might actually prefer their slightly death 'n roll sound of Erase, but this album is a very overlooked piece of old-school death metal. Quality stuff.

Ancient Dreams is best Candlemass album imo, EDM is pretty damn close though, almost on par.

Sabaton - Rise of Evil

Rather doom-y power metal song.

Yes, the lyrics of "Les sentinelles" are fantastic. In fact, I think one of the strongest aspects of the album in general is the quality of the lyrics and the different approach of each lyricist (Néant, O.T. and Famine). For example, Néant's lyrics, with the exception of "Vers la mort", are surprisingly full of hope, like the part you just quoted. I had a lot of fun reviewing the album due to the profoundness of the lyrics.

Totenburg - Krieger Germaniens.

Still my favourite album the band came up with. Excellent riffs and demonic harsh grunts. Great stuff.
