Never mind, dumb joke

Gamma Ray- Majesty

It's amazing how these guys can pull of groove and not sound like a bunch of douchebag Ozzfest monkeys.

I've half-way been meaning to check out Gamma Ray for quite some time... Maybe I'll do that after I finish my current song.

Oh buddy you are in for the ride of your life. The Land of the Free awaits you!! One of my favorite albums of all time.

Metal Church - Masterpeace

I dunno... this is actually pretty cool.

I don't agree with the high score so far, but I think UB's review of this might be one of his most accurate

Angel Witch - Angel Witch

I've listened to this album before, but never by myself front to back. I can happily say this has been corrected. Fantastic record.

Metallica - Hardwired... To Self-Destruct

In my book, this one wins DM by a mile now. My constant faves are Dream No More, Halo on Fire, Confusion, and - of course - Spit Out the Bone. Atlas and Moth still work very well too. I'm even come to like ManUNkind and Hardwired. A couple of pointless tracks on cd 2 though, as most have said.

Cryptopsy - None So Vile

Like a shock to the system. Still the best brutal death metal album ever conceived.

Altar of Oblivion - Graveyard of Broken Dreams

I'm fuckign DRUNK and this is the best epic/trad doom I've heard in ages. This singer is the classiest thing ever, what a fuxking knack for hooks and cadences he's got. New EP is awesome too

Helstar - Abandon Ship

The brief intro riff might as well be the heaviest riff Helstar ever came up. Love the neoclassical guitarwork here.

"Lightning" by Enslaved

So many influences, and it's not like they arrange them in horizontal slots.

Re-listening to my 2016 releases to try to arrange a top 10 for the poll. Undecided about this one especially in comparison to the new Gorguts & Deathspell Omega?

Super cool album, towards the top of my list so far, but it's still ridiculously overrated. It's not as cool as people say it is. It really needed something else to make it great. I was expecting fantastic doom when I heard it, but it's not at all that.

Jag Panzer - Harder Than Steel

Awesome

Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone - Black Label Society

This is a song by Bill Withers from his 1971 album Just As I Am.
In 2013, heavy metal band Black Label Society covered the song on their album Unblackened.

Metallica — The Thing That Should Not Be

Much better live than on record, the production kinda kills the heaviness of it on MoP, but live its a big fat heavy motherfucker

Running Wild - Death or Glory

I'm still pissed that I can't find this. It's probably #7 or #8 on my top 10 metal albums list and it's the only one that I don't have on CD. Ugh.

I feel like I've instinctively grown long poofy hair and donned a bullet belt listening to this. Always a classic.

It's a thick, heavy album that will probably take another 6 months of listens to get used to. I'd say that even if it doesn't make the top 10, you might still find you'll continue to like it.

Meshuggah - The Violent Sleep of Reason

Speaking of albums that deserve to be in the top 10, there's this. Goddamn, I love this. Always been a Meshuggah fan as people know, but this one leaves their last two albums in the dust. Fantastic stuff!

Jerry Cantrell - Hellbound, I always figured it was Jerry Cantrell who was the main man behind Alice In Chains. That's why his solo output is still very close sounding to his famous band. The only missing element is ofcourse the blending vocals with Layne Staley. But still top notch quality material here.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Degradation Trip is just about on par with AiC's output. In addition to "Hellbound," "Spiderbite," "Bargain Basement Howard Hughes" and "Anger Rising" are fantastic songs as well.

Degradation Trip is an amazing release. Definitely as good as AiC's studio records, if not better at times. My favorites are "Siddhartha" and "Anger Rising". But out of that gargantuan running time, there's at least 100 minutes of remarkable stuff.

NP: Ataraxia - Ataraxia
Supporting the local underground, these guys just released their debut and it's some pretty intense HC/grind/powerviolence/howeveryouwannacallit.

Not only those vocals, but also that song. That record. That band.

NP:
Khemmis - Hunted
Finally got 'round to listening to this hyped record. It's definitely not bad - the riffage is good and dynamic, and I like the vocals. However, it feels neither crushing, nor atmospheric compared to my favorite doom bands/albums. Might e a grower, though.

Jag Panzer - Symphony Of Terror

Still an utter classic...just power-surging riffage and kinetic energy and soaring vocals. A powerhouse of a song and album.

A classic example of superb USPM. It seems like the majority of metalheads only know about Master Control but you all need to familiarize yourselves with their previous works. This album in particular will blow your fuckin mind!
