Tankard — Minds on the Moon

Weirdly catchy chorus for Tankard

Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult

Haven't listened to this one in a while. Dark death metal with nice big Doomy riffs.

Arch/Matheos - Neurotically Wired

One of the few progressive metal albums I can really appreciate. The mechanical grooving riffs and Arch's acrobatic vocal lines are such a cool match. Would love to hear a follow up to this.

Where Silent Gods Stand Guard -- Amon Amarth

Their most recent record is 'Jomsviking', the ongoing transformation to Iron Maiden like structures is almost complete. Viking theme and vocals might be the only separating factor.

Haven't heard this since it came out. Finally bought a copy. Loving the melodies.

Enid - Bondage's Coronation

Ahhh this is so cheesy and beautiful at the same time. Production is fucking atrocious too. Summoning-worship is where it's at.

Asphyx- Asphyx (Forgotten War)

Fucking furious. It's the riffage of In Union We Stand done death metal style.

Just got my pre-order today! Quite happy so far, 2 tracks in. The longsleeve also rules. :)

:np: Buckethead - Thank You Ohlinger's

Many Big B fans consider this to be the best metal Pike, and while I can't pick a favorite, this is top 5 for sure. Absolutely fantastic, this is one of the best Buckethead albums ever.

Paradox "Pangea"

1st play and I'm enjoying this a lot so far. Vox seem a bit off, but that's not a huge concern. This seems a bit darker, mechanical and a bit strange (at times) than the previous offerings.

Sadistic Intent are really cool, and the EP's mean that they don't overstay their welcome. Can't answer your question, but I wanted to say that the band are (were?) vicious.

Meshuggah - Nothing

One of Meshuggah's best from their powerful era. Slow and heavy, counteracting their fast and chaotic output in Chaosphere. I'm looking forward to their new album this year but I hope that they can write some catchier songs than some of the middle-of-the-road tunes on Koloss.

:np: Stryper - Fallen

Do not be fooled by the aesthetic; this kicks ass. It isn't even glam, more heavy metal/hard rock with a great, power metal-esque vocal performance from Michael Sweet.

After all the hype, I decided to give this a try, and it sounds pretty much how I expected it to.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Hard On For Love

From a silky, gothy bounce to harsh, noisy chaos at the end. Love it - abrasive and uncomfortable as fuck. I remember hearing this in the car when I was unfamiliar with the album and it was fucking absolutely terrifying.

Damn fine death metal, with power and atmosphere. Excellent EP/demo whatever.

Pagan's Mind - Infinity Divine - Embracing Fear

Got all the albums recently and they were great right from the get go it seems.

Nightwish - Our Decades In the Sun

Didn't end up listening to much today and just been listening to what was in the player instead of switching it up. I do like this song, though, especially the chorus. Still can't help but feel like this album is like uber Nightwish if that makes sense. Like all the Nightwish ideas/melodies condensed into a single album. Then again feels like Tuomas has been building up to something like that, a band that basically writes the same melodies it always has but has become saturated in itself if that makes sense. But for this album I don't complain too much about that. As far as super catchy tunes go it fits the bill for me right about.

Buckethead - Coat of Charms

Been listening to a ton of Buckethead lately, and I've been revisiting some of his best work in particular. This one's no exception. It rarely gets better than this in the Buckethead discography. Those clean melodies are utterly fantastic.

Mercyful Fate - Melissa

I would enjoy this album more if King Diamond sounded different. His whiny voice is so bloody irritating.

Pain Of Salvation - Entropia

Got the bonus track, 'Never Learn To Fly,' in physical form, finally. Such a great, emotive ballad. Should be on every copy, and maybe remove one of the short instrumentals for the Japanese version instead.

I was never able to get into King Diamond's vocals.

Yeah, he sounds exactly like Bono, but a shittier version. At least Bono's voice is good and goes well with the music. I never understood the fascination with King Diamond.

Mardelas "A Little Star"

The rare instance where a ballad adds to an album rather than detracting. I like the 1-2 punch of this and D.G.L. more than Amnesia/Scapegoat.

BLASPHEMY!

Summoning - The Passage of the Grey Company

Enid's cover of this is quite good. So triumphant.

Isengard - Vinterskugge

Always loved this. A very diverse album; folk, black, death, and even some doomy stuff. Okay, it consists of different releases, so that's a given. I have some crappy bootleg LP of this lying somewhere.
