Stratovarius - Visions

Why did it take me so long to listen to Stratovarius?

Something that surprised me a lot...

War Prayer of Omophor from Georgia, great Melodic Death Metal, they put their album in streaming in youtube ...and is the third time that i hear.

Promissing...

PS: for the curious ...

Diabolical Masquerade - Nightwork

An old favorite of mine. Some cool guitar, and synthwork on this one. Guess I'll have to try Death's Design some day. Heard good things about it.

"Dark Passion Play" by Nightwish

This so goddamn good! Sonic beauty taps into godly grandeur, adorned with dark gems here and there... Splendid. :-D

Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses

A bit of a shock after the doom as fuck World Coming Down. A lot more gothic stuff with this one, but it works nicely anyway. Quite why there are two thrash songs on this is quite confusing though.

The thrash songs make more sense in the context of the bands evolution, sound wise; Slow Deep and Hard, the album before it, also has a number of Carnivore-esque fast numbers - Type O only really made the step to being uniformly slow on October Rust and World Coming Down; even Life is Killing Me speeds back up.

NP: Running Wild - Black Hand Inn

Having survived on a "Best of..." for about four years, I've finally taken the plunge and been listening to full-length Running Wild records - going to work through a few more later today.

Diabolical Masquerade - The Phantom Lodge

Never got to this as much as Nightwork, and I still see why. Some songs near the end (and that one song with the folky keyboard melody), are goddamn great though.

Systral - The Great Death-N-Roll Swindle

Unhinged, nasty death-n-roll from Germany. Systral go kinda unheralded but they were one of the few to take Entombed's d-n-r ideas in a fresh direction.

That's one of my favorite metal albums ever, such a great mix of heavy and doom on that album. I love how pissed off Dio sounds on it. :headbang:

I dunno know man, but that's one of my favourite Strato albums right there! Perhaps because it was also my first Strato album, but when I'm in the mood I still can't get enough of it. Legions, Holy Light, Visions...some good stuff right there!

Be'lakor – Vessels

On my 2nd listen right now, and I'm still disappointed with it. The first half is great, but the second bores me so much... maybe more listens will change it, but right now it's their worst album.

THIS:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gACnxUbWpE

Seven Minutes of Nausea.

Because its just so fucking ridiculous, tasteless, and mindlessly dumb, that it's almost entertaining, in a totally retarded outsider kinda way. For like the first couple minutes anyway. And oddly enough, I like this a lot better than some of these grind/death bands that at least try to be serious.

Dream Theater - The Astonishing

It's like a prog-metal Disney soundtrack, getting flashbacks to Hercules here. I'm actually digging this quite a bit.

That's impossible--Hercules had energy and verve, and The Astonishing is just plodding and dull.

I dunno man... "The Gift of Music" just really gave me the feel of "Go the Distance," even the vocals sound similar. I'm honestly surprised how much I'm liking this. I was expecting to listen to a couple songs and then switch it off.

You're forgetting "The Abyss Of Your Eyes". Goddamn, that's a masterpiece of a song.

Isis - In The Absence Of Truth

If there's one reason why I keep coming back to this album, it's because it has "Wrists Of Kings".

Infester - To the Depths, in Degredation

This is one of those old school U.S. death metal gems. Pretty awesome. It also appears to be in desperate need of a fucking reissue. :grumble:

It is a good album. I think it's one of the more listenable, palatable albums they've done. There are a lot of ballads, but not as many as some say, and there's a ton of variety on it.

Iron Savior - Forevermore

Even being the slowest song on this album, I find it closes the album well before all those covers (which I really like all of them anyway so doesn't bother me...especially Gorgar :-D ). Especially love the opening, really spine-tingling and sets the atmosphere well.

Abyss of Your Eyes is a great song but the only problem I have with it is I find for me it drags a bit longer than necessary towards the end. There isn't really a song I don't like on that album (even the ballads) though despite the cheesy lyrics on Forever Free and Paradise for example, those are some of my favourites on the album too. Just an all round great album!

Black Diamond was one of the first metal songs I ever heard. Good choice!

Sabaton - The Rise of Evil

Coincidentally, I was reading some article involving Trump when this song came on Spotify.
