Different. But awesome.

Forest Stream - Autumn Elegy, from Tears of Mortal Solitude

Been meaning to give this album a serious listen for quite some time now.

Ice Dragon ~ Born a Heavy Morning

Damn, I can't stop spinning this one. Loving the crazy rampant psych pop influence here.

Jean Sibelius - Fourth Symphony (conducted by Karajan with the Berlin Philharmonics)

It recently occured to me how oddly un-Finnish the name "Jean Sibelius" sounds. Anyways, marvellous music.

Death Angel - Kill As One

Classic 80s thrash at its finest. Just gotta love all of those crazy screams all over it.

Graveland- Thunderbolts of the Gods

A very good epic metal album. It's nice this band put more time into the album as to not completely rehash the sound of the prior several.

Lujaneeza "Angelic Toxicity"

Fucking weird album and a bitch to categorize. It's doubly confusing to me hearing Mikki (Galmet) singing instead of shrieking her head off.

Judas Priest - You've Got Another Thing Coming

Just the kind of silly defiance I need right now. Work is so irritating sometimes.

Dark Funeral: The Secret of the Black Arts.

Been awhile since I had listened to this band and since there is supposed to be a new album, figured why not give this a spin again.

Gorguts - Inoculated Life

This is a great fucking track, man. Classic shit. I had only listened to The Erosion of Sanity and Obscura beforehand, but after listening to this album, this has to be my favorite.

Gorguts - Obscura

Been reading the manga Uzumaki lately, and it always makes me crave for disjointed, weird metal.

Visions From the Dark Side- Morbid Angel

I wonder what would've happened had they continued to go in this direction. Some of the songs from their first three albums have some hints of 2nd Wave BM riffs

Gunbridge "Dispel the Evil"

One of Yama-B's current projects. A bit more old school and straight-forward than his work in Galneryus, but still pretty cool stuff.

Ayr - Eternal Sustain and Nothing Left to Give

I discovered this band earlier this year, shortly after stumbling across the related Young and In the Way. This band is pretty much pure black metal, though it's sort of hard to nail down exact influences. Extremely potent stuff, and highly recommended for people looking for simple but powerful black metal or those who are always coming up empty handed when looking for quality bands from the US.

Those riffs sound way too much like modern melodeath to my ears. Minus the wankery of course. It's like these days everything that has a maximum of five riffs, boring drums, a lot of tremolo picking and a lot of repetition qualifies as "atmospheric" black metal.

(I listened to this song)

Gargoyle - Nai Dukushi

This song was always way out in left field, but it's damn cool. There's that funky bass line, grooving guitar, killer solo and maybe have a bit of a ska feel throughout it?

Veiled in Scarlet "Idealism"

Japanese neoclassical melodeath, seems pretty good so far. Reminds me a bit of GYZE.

YOB - The Great Cessation

I only have their two most recent albums, but their brand of sludgy doom is something I want to hear more over. Fantastic mix of heaviness and beauty in this song.

The perfect balance between black metal and great soaring melodies.

Taake are underrated, have you heard Myr? With the banjo in it? Used to laugh about it every single time but now i like it.

ReVamp - In Sickness 'Till Death Do Us Part: All Goodbyes are Said

Pretty cool. I don't really know how much I like it but it's interesting...Floor has one of the best voices in the genre.

Kamelot - Lost & Damned, off Epica

My favourite tune from Epica. The tango-esque verses are weirdly cool, especially considering I don't like actual tango.

Cryptic Tales - Valley of the Dolls

OSDM with Black Sabbath-esque groove and...flute sections. It's weird but it works.

That's a great song and album. I happen to like those verses too. :)

Judas Priest - Dreamer Deceiver

Oh, how I would love to hear this album with heavier production. It still wouldn't be my favorite Priest album, but it would help out a lot. I guess that's what's 'Unleashed in the East' is for.

Kekal - The Way of Thinking Beyond Comprehension

Very cool avant-garde stuff. Starts off with a badass riff with a nice keyboard/synth notes over it. Then it gets a little crazy in the middle, but it's full of good riffs all around and a nice mix of clean and harsh vocals.

Yeah, Epica is a great record. The excessive amount of interludes tends to bug me, but otherwise, it's very consistent in quality.

I think that SWOD's production is perfect. A heavier sound would ruin its ethereal, floaty atmosphere.

My Dying Bride - Like a Perpetual Funeral, from A Map of All Our Failures

A lot of negativity surrounded this release, but I still find it enjoyable and very fitting for my current "Woe is me" mood.
