Flunk – As If You Didn't Already Know

This album came out last year but I'm only checking it out now and there's some awesome hypnotic trip-hop in it. Might be their best album to date

Origin - Finite

can't get much more technical than that

the top comment on Youtube video sums it up perfectly

Quote:
Everyone else should just quit now. Origin has out-metaled you. Deal with it.

Savatage - Turns to Me, from The Wake of Magellan

I am feeling utterly cheesy this morning and this album is thoroughly helping to enhance the mood.

Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea

An album of doom and gloom to summarize how I feel before the long and arduous day of labor that looms ahead. Self-pity aside, this is a remarkable, monstrous album that embodies the essence of a cold, black sea painted beneath a brooding, gray sky - beautiful and stunning, no doubt.

The Wake of Magellan is a fine way to do that. One of the first metal albums I owned, and while I understand how horrific it must have sounded to old-school 'Tage fans I had little idea of its history when I first heard it. Morning Sun = :np:

Warbringer - Iron City

Warbringer, Warbringer, I did not expect a party-thrash song from you, especially after three albums of fairly substantial material. Nevertheless, this is catchy and fun, and the rest of the album is well constructed and solid - probably more so than Worlds Torn Asunder.

Ulver - Shadows Of The Sun (album)

How did they master so many genres? This is such honest, beautiful music.

Motörhead - Terminal Show

I should listen to Motörhead more often.

Agreed. One of the many things I appreciate about Ulver is the fact that they are able to keep a very consistent mood and feel that is undeniably Ulver throughout their material regardless of the genre they're dabbling in; whether it's metal, electronic, post-punk or some sort of modern classical they always manage to sound instantly recognizable.

Sale Freux - Subterraneus

So I saw this band being rec'd to somebody in the BM help thread. Read a couple of very positive reviews, decided to give it listen and all I can say is wow!
This is terrible.
The vocals, the production, the drum machine, everything here sounds awful

Savatage - Of Rage and War

Despite some tracks off this kinda sucking, I still like it. Maybe not as much as HOTMK or EoT, but still. Classy stuff at its best. Could do without "She's in Love," "Mentally Yours" and "Thorazine Shuffle" though.

Suffocation - Immortally Condemned (from The Close of a Chapter)

Pretty good sound quality, considering it's a live album. Boosting treble helps.

Cage the Elephant- Self-titled

Weird mix of blues, funk, rap rock, and garage rock. I love it.

Keldian - Burn the Sky

I think I found one of my new favorite albums of 2013.

Austere - To Lay Like Old Ashes

It's too bad this project has since ceased to be as these two guys produced some really excellent, emotive stuff.

Keldian - Kepler and 100,000 Stars

Easily my favorite off the new album, and holy shit is it amazing.

Pestilence - Systematic Instruction

Sometimes I think the song titles on Malleus were chosen solely for their phonetics, and the lyrics were written afterwards to make some sense out of them.

Forest Stream - Tears Of Mortal Solitude

A good melodic doom/death album that has a lot of nostalgia attached to it ... cold, desperate and imaginative material although if I had heard it for the first time today I probably wouldn't be too enthralled.

My Dying Bride - The Manuscript

Truly an "extended play" of A Map Of All Our Failures that is a worthy addition to any My Dying Bride fan's collection. A Pale Shroud Of Longing would have to be my favorite from this particular release.

The Meads Of Asphodel - Creed Of Abraham

I think I hear some similarities to Die Apokalyptischen Reiter here. Interesting.

Type O Negative - Love You To Death, from October Rust

I have quite a scenic drive on my way home from work, and this morning I got to enjoy looking at all of the changing, falling leaves and the general feel of autumn. I couldn't wait to get home and throw this album in.

Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet

One of the genre-forming albums in the funeral doom genre that deserves all of the credit it receives. Stormcrowfleet is truly a magical experience that grows more potent and powerful with repeated listens.

This is how Swedish death metal should be done these days...
