This is what abysmal funeral should sound like! In The Depths of R'lyeh is one of my favorite albums.

That album has some nice moments and as a whole I think it's swell but it does get fellated quite a bit and I don't ever seem to hear the magic so many insist lurks on this album. Maybe it's just the slow tempos. I like slow but goddamn.

Domains - Crowned at Dusk

Holy FAHh I'm mad I am just now hearing this. PHENOM death metal, instant classic, some serious dark magic going on here. This is insanely good.

In Human Form - Earthen Urn

This is one of my favorite progressive black metal albums. Lots of sweet, somewhat unorthodox riffing with really fun bass parts.

Adversarial - Death, Endless Nothing and the Black Knife of Nihilism

Vicious as hell, another strong release from these guys.

Yep, that is one seriously good DM album, easily one of my firm favourites in the last couple of years.

I don't want to jump on it too hard right away but this album hits all the spots and on every song. I'm listening to Mastery now and it's so damned good. I already know it'll be up in the ranks with my favorite death metal albums.

Now playing: Domains - Mastery

Next: Pilgrim - Master's Chamber

Why is there not more love going around for Pilgrim? High quality doom. Masterfully melancholic, strongly melodic but in a very consistent way. The riffs all sound creepy and twisted and slightly arabesque, all mixed in with soulless black doom riffs of doom. Vox are out of this world too.

Pilgrim is alright! Only have the first album, but it needed some spins before I really liked it.

I think their latest one, Void Worship, is much better than Misery Wizard.

I don't know, maybe it's just me haha. I love the slow tempos, and the reverb makes it like it was recorded in a cave, but I like shit like that.

Pantheist - "The Storm"

I've been on a funeral doom kick recently.

I haven't listened to their last album, but their first two + The Pains of Sleep EP are pretty great.

Zoät-Aon - Siren Flakes

I can never seem to open up to new dark and ritual ambient projects; I always end up wanting to listen to the same projects that I've been used to for the past few years.

Stygma IV - Ground Zero

This album is an enigma to me. It's so long-winded and strange, and I always think I need to be in this specific mood to hear it - but it's fucking great, powerful metal that just grabs you when you least expect it. It works against any flaw you would think music this odd and long would have.

That is a cool band, I was introduced to them via your Youtube channel.

Running Wild - Black Hand Inn

Love this song's main riff. Has to be one of their greatest all time.

Stargazer - Incense and Aeolian Chaos

Still getting my head around the labyrinthine piece of experimental glory that is this album. I'll be seeing them live in a couple of weeks and am fully prepared to have my head blown apart at the seams with awe.

Volahn - Aq'Ab'Al

This is a really great album. I really wish the band would make its way to the midwest for a gig or two.

Europe - Seven Doors Hotel, off Europe

Wow, this is actually pretty rocking stuff. Some of the songs here are easily straight up metal. Too bad the production's so dated, and not in a good way.

Awesome track. Yes, the production sounds so out-dated! but the music saves it.

The first Europe album is very consistent. Not a single bad track. The second one is my favorite though.

How old were they when making that album? They look like some 11 year olds in the pictures.

The Meads of Asphodel - The Man Who Killed for God

Just finished my second listen to their new split EP with Tjolgtjar. Wonderful psychedelic stuff from the Meads, partially dedicated to one of the medieval era's most notorious killers and grisly executions Balthasar Gerard. Now I'm cycling through loads of their old stuff to reignite my Pythonian madness within. Absolutely one of my favourite bands.

Nokturnal Mortum - Valkyrie

Oh god this song... It goes from high-octane blasting to grating tremolo riffs to monk chants to psychedelic meandering and each section is just perfect.

Warloghe - Womb of Pestilence

I would really like for this to be remastered. The crappy production almost ruined a very good album.

Virgin Steele - Queen of the Dead

There is nothing interesting on this album. There's no cohesion. David DeFeis's squeals are annoying, not to mention his vocals sound so....artificial. lol This is sad.

Storm Corrosion

This Mikael Akerfeldt/Steven Wilson collaboration should make good backround music for Skyrim.

It makes for more than good background music, it's a great symphonic weirdo folk album.

Now playing: Execration - Ode to Obscurity

Really killer stuff. Awesome riffs with the right pacing and cool creepy touches like the clean outro.

Haunting melodies and great atmosphere. One of the slower songs coming from these guys and it kicks ass.

Valborg - The Haunted Womb

Ugh, I hate the vocals in this song so far which is a shame because other than that it's the best song on the album. I'm not sure how I never knew about this band before recently, though. The album isn't bad. A little too short/empty I think, but not bad.

Cradle of Filth - Onward Christian Soldiers (from Hammer of the Witches).. what a crusher of a song!

What a pleasant surprise this album has been! Feels like they give a shit about making good music again, so much going on in tracks. This guitar duo is definitely a blessing! Rekindles my interest in them after almost a decade, always had a soft spot for them for being the gateway band to black metal.

Maestus – Shrouded by Peaks, Valleys Speak

20+ mins epic to start the album. Its very melancholic. I like it but the song could've used some aggression. Its too resigned
