Skinless - Barbaric Proclivity

Damn, This sounds way better than that one track they put out for the new album. Not totally sold on those vocals, but instrumentally this is some sick shit. Kinda sensing some Swedeath moments on this album too.

Borrowed Time - Of nymph and Nihil

Such a fun song. While he sounds nothing like Terry Jones i feel he able to channel the same emotion and passion in his vocals on this particular track.

Man, this album is majestic!!

I'll have to give this band another try.

On Demon Wings from (2000) Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Sunset Mission.
PERFECT.

Haha I thought the same, it could be a great name for a folk/black metal project here.

Appalachian Winter has some clean vocals in this album that sound outplaced but the keys are amazing!

Dynfari: Vegfer II-Ad Astra

Quite peculiar black metal from Iceland.

Embrace of Thorns - Venom In Veins

Take me now, Satan. THIS is that good good primo shit that's getting street kids hooked and leaving them dead in sewers of blasphemy. That main riff never took no for an answer and the guitar tone never tipped a waitress.

Akasava - The Deep

Tony talked about this band a while ago but I forgot to check them out. Read the newly approved review today and decided to order the CD. Just a cardsleeve but what the hell, I don't mind. Pretty dope mix of vintage acid rock and doom metal.

Candlemass - Darkness In Paradise

Ancient Dreams -first Candlemass vinyl I bought back in the day. Just bought the remastered version on CD. Still no-one to touch them for epic doom.

Darkthrone - Summer of the Diabolical Holocaust

This might be my new fave from Under a Funeral Moon. It has everything: tremolo-picked melodic parts with blast beats, slow doomy riffs and then that thrash-esque madness riff in the end. Usually Darkthrone pick one riff style per song, especially on Panzerfaust.

Hibria - Tightrope

I'm only 3 songs into the new album, but it's pretty good so far. This is definitely my favourite of the 3 songs. Hopefully it keeps up the quality.

Criminal Element - Charges Pending
Almost forgot I have this EP lying around my room, damn this band was sick when they first started. Kinda fucked up their sound on the last couple releases.

Satanic Assault Division - Atomic Holocaust

This album, "Kill The Cross," is fucking bad ass. Black metal with death/thrash and traditional metal elements all over it. This is some of the coolest shit I've heard in a while.

Armagedda - Only True Believers

My first listen to this album and really enjoying it, there's a lot of memorable parts which makes it a pretty solid black metal album which I really dig.

Slough Feg - Magic Hooligan

One of the few bands who really has the spirit and style of old 70s rock down pat.

Yeah I don't even know why I love it as much as I do, but it's just such a fun album. They've done more complete works overall (obviously, their classic works and such), and this one does have a few filler-y tracks, but the production, performances, songwriting, etc are all so magnetic and fun. It's a more complex album that it initially lets on, too.

Triptykon - Demon Pact

This band blows my mind. The Warrior truly seems like he's got a vast musical vision, the huge sounds of both Triptykon albums are mind blowing. Good to see one of the Elders of metal still challenging himself musically. It's far from demanding performance-wise but Melena Chasmata has amazing song craft. Hard to pick a favorite from this album but this song is in the running.

no one said this, and if they did it would be because it's not behemoth.

Chambre Froide - La Mort des Cultes

This is actually pretty damn good. I picked it up from a distro's clearance section a couple years ago because it was two or three bucks. It didn't really do anything for me when I listened to it after getting it. I spotted it on my shelf and decided to give it another shot and I'm pleasantly surprised. Some fairly traditional black metal but with really solid songwriting. There are some creepy, crawling sections that remind me of something like Cultes des Ghoules, but there are also a couple of scattered, melodic French riffs that work so well when they come out of the ugliness. I'm actually quite impressed and will try to pick up their other stuff. Hopefully the band is still active.

Manilla Road "The Blessed Curse"

Only 3 songs in, but I already prefer this one to Mysterium. This has a somber vibe to it, which I like.

Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle

I'm giving the vinyl a spin after a song came up on my iPod earlier today, reminding me how amazing this is. I'm still furious that there's been no progress towards any new material. Anyway, it's cool to hear their Summoning covers - I usually just listen on my iPod.

Mystifier - Aleister Crowley and the Ordo Templi Orientis

I like this a lot. Thrashy black metal with guttural vocals and tasteful macabre touches that make it rather surreal. The vocal delivery is more along the Bal-Sagoth oratory/narration deal, but this is good shit.

Fuck I think I like this album more than the 2 that followed. I didn't expect it to crush so hard.

I've been getting into Mystifier myself over the last few months - I've found a particular fondness for the third record; it's more polished, but also goes in some really interesting directions, particularly with regards to the vocal style.

NP: Grave - Deformed

Time to explore Swedish death-metal a bit more thoroughly... beyond Entombed, essentially.

Arch/Matheos live playing FW songs [This is FW in all accounts anyway]

Is incredible how Arch sounds, even if he retired for almost 20 years. While it's true his voice didn't strained for constant touring all those years, he could have lost just all his skill and range by the simple fact of not singing a damn note and stop keep training his vocals. I'm not sure if he kept singing at home or he's just that talented that did the Twist of Fate EP out of nowhere and the Arch/Matheos album without much preparation, but whatever he did to be on that shape is something every +40 years old singer should do.

Man, this MUST be recorded on a proper blu-ray quality!

Helrunar – Hauch wird Sturm

Bonus track on the demo Grátr. Sounds pretty cool. Vocals could've been a less throaty. I like the piano interludes. Whole demo is pretty awesome. Could have easily been a full length

This is what abysmal funeral should sound like! In The Depths of R'lyeh is one of my favorite albums.

Diamonds is such a great album. One of my favourite "new wave of traditional heavy metal" albums for sure.
