Kyuss - 'Hurricane'

Huh, this was in a Need For Speed soundtrack. Knew it sounded familiar.

Crimson Glory- Lost Reflection.

This song is what I use to measure all other metal ballads. So far, nothing yet I've found comes quite as close to the cold, chilling, all out mesmerizing atmosphere that this song exudes.

Nuit Noire - Join me in the night

Uhm.. this is quite weird.
sloppy, raw black metal that has vocals and lyrics that are impossible to take seriously but at the same time is an unexpected onslaught of really well done, epic riffs.. i don't really know what to think

Reverend Bizarre - So Long Suckers

Re-visiting this after some years. Not my fave, but there are some GOLDEN moments on both cd's. "Bring back my heart, you don't need it now..." I love that part in Teutonic Witch. The spirit of the doomsday is present in every track.

Cloven Hoof - "Mistress of the Forest"

My favorite track on the album. My favorite kinds of metal songs are those like this.

I've been revisiting Running Wild lately and that album seriously rules. Battle of Waterloo =

NP: Skullview - The Night of Metalkill

Some serious overpowering heavy/power metal here. That intro alone sounds like the world's about to end.

Death or Glory is one of my favorite albums. I really love that one.

Symphony X - "Dressed to Kill"

Going back an album to their debut with Allen. I'm enjoying this one a lot too.

Death Therapy - The Storm Before The Calm

...in preparation of seeing this this Saturday right here in Santa Cruz! I'm stoked. I don't care about any of the other bands though but oh well, should still be a great time.

Yes they are. I saw them together with Sortilegia and a bunch of other bands mostly from the Nidrosian scene. Sortilegia outclassed them all though, it was amazing. But yes, CoF is really good live as well.

Wonder why they chose to go with Devanagari script(nepali/hindi/sanskrit). They even have "cult of fire" written out in the script(not translated). Fans of Vedic literature or perhaps are Czechs of Indian origin?

Belphegor - Pest Teufel Apokalypse

The beginning kicks off in Morbid Angel-like fashion but eventually sets in Belphegor's blackened death metal style. Total ass kicking!

Sargeist - Tyranny Returns

Good stuff, except for the fact that "The Impaler Prince" is pure Darkthrone riff ("Over Fjell" and "En Hall" from TH, I believe) theft.

Slough Feg - Habeas Corpsus

This is one of their best songs ever, I don't care how many people think this was a weak album. Rest of the album is damn good too. I don't think Mike Scalzi ever sounded better.

Riot - Thundersteel

Only heard Restless Breed and Born in America before this. This is a completely different story. That's how true heavy metal should be played.

Sunless - Wishes Fallen on Deafened Ears

A somewhat lighter and more playful take on the dissonant death metal. Digging it very much so far (yet still anticipating new Artificial Brain).

I only got to that Riot album quite recently, it's really great traditional metal, and a ton of fun.

NP:
Acid Force - Atrocity For The Lust
My fellow countrymen released a record... and while it's not a spectacular album, but quite fun crossover thrash. Lots of punk/Motorhead influence.

Which they do with impressive continuity.

NP: Leviathan - Cut, With the Night Into Mine Heart

Here is my opinion (that no one asked for) on Leviathan's best albums/compilations,
Spoiler: show
1. Tentacles of Whorror
2. Scar Sighted
3. Massive Conspiracy Against All Life
4. Tenth Sub-Level of Suicide
5. Verräter
6. A Silhouette in Splinters
7. Howl Mockery at the Cross
8. True Traitor, True Whore

Needful Things - Lowpoint [Napalm Death cover]

Um, holy shit! Takes one of ND's only good tracks from their squalid groove era and dirties it up big time. Took all I had not to trash my office listening to this.

Man, when that verse kicks in, this song gets real fucking kickass. Just started listening to these guys yesterday.
