Tight as fuck musicianship + abominable vocals = RUINED potential.

Vocals are debatable of course, but the riffs are insane on that one. One of my favourite tech death albums.

Today I've listened to:
Between the Bured and Me - s/t (wonderful to see how they've progressed from goofy angry hardcore to goofy all over the place prog)
Darkspace - Dark Space II (only about 30 minutes of material... Not really as good as III either)
Kekal - The Habit of Fire (not my favourite of theirs, since it gets a bit aimless towards the end, but it's still a great album)

Seriously BTBAM have never let me down especially when they released Alaska. I was blown away.

I'm going to test my meditative abilities. I'm going to lay my head down and not move for the next two and a half and listen to only Fearthainne.

Sonata Arctica - Broken

I will never fathom the praise Winterheart's Guild gets. It's easily SA's dullest album.

Nightmare - Corridors of Knowledge, off Cosmovision

This isn't as dark or outright aggressive as The Burden of God, but it certainly is richer and more traditional. I like it.

I'm gonna try to get outside and walk around in the gloomy rainy weather before the sun starts rearing it's ass through the clouds.

Probably going to listen to either skagos - ast, or dISEMBOWELMENT - transcend the peripheral

I think I realized the riff from impetigo's song "intense mortification," from the album "Ultimo Mondo Cannibale" is copied off of a hellhammer song. Anyone wanna confirm this?''

Impetigo - Ultimo Mondo Cannibale

I realized something... rateyourmusic is a treasure trove of goregrind :o

Sonata Arctica - The Ruins of My Life

This song, once it gets started, is one of the few tracks on this album that isn't dull.

Sonata Arctica - Deathaura

One of the best off of Days of Grays. Dark, proggy, and melancholic.

Saxon - Rock the Nations

What a stiff album. This can't be hated, but it barrels its way through with mediocrity and a flat production job. IINE killed this in terms of atmosphere.

Abysmal Torment's Omnicide is one of my favorites. That album kicks major ass. You can't go wrong with the double bonus of Defeated Sanity, either. Both bands will have new albums out in 2013, too. :)

Iron Mask - Holy War, off Hordes of the Brave

Neo-classical Eurpower done fucking right; really classy and graceful, while still retaining most of metal's core aggressivenes (some of the double bass work here could cause spontaneous human combustion). Hell yes, this shit kills.

Iron Mask is indeed a solid group. Shadow of the Red Baron is probably their best album, in my opinion.

Speedwolf - The Reaper
