Arnaut Pavle - Arnaut Pavle

Pretty good raw and violent black metal. A bit like early Darkthrone.

Chalice of Blood - Helig, Helig, Helig

Really? I thought that was boring as hell, stock modern Swedish black metal.

Avsky - Scorn
Now for some good Swedish black metal.

I enjoyed it, wasn't anything over the top and stellar but still satisfied. I need to check out Avsky i've seen that name floating around a few times before.

NP: Bal-Sagoth - The Power Cosmic

this band will be my intro into power metal honestly, i can enjoy this.

Satan's Host - Infinite Impossibilities

Satan's Host are better than you and you must listen to everything by them ever, forever.

That is all.

Psychic Posessor - Toxin Diffusion this needs a CD release, about 20 years ago. This is sonic bliss.

Brutality - Cryptorium

Such a savage and classily put together death metal track. Great stuff.

Cirith Ungol - I'm Alive

Been listening Frost & Fire and King of the Dead today. Where (in hell) is my copy of One Foot in Hell? Together with Maybe That's Why (which is propably the greatest song ever) this is the best cut from said album. True heavy metal lifestyle anthem.

Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry

We need new Arghoslent. The new House of Atreus just seems lamer and lamer in comparison.

I picked up two of their albums (packaged together) on a blind buy a few months ago and it's really awesome. I usually refer to them as death prog.

Rhapsody of Fire - Raging Starfire

I'm not that familiar with Rhapsody (of Fire's) work, but this is my favorite song that I've heard so far.

One-Eyed Sister has really similar vocal melodies to a song from Skyrim...

Metallica - Death Magnetic

I'm not really a Metallica fan and I only picked it up because it was really cheap, but I am liking it so far. The only issue I have is with the damn snare. :nono:

Hatred for Mankind by Dragged Into Sunlight

Really been a while since a band totally new to me blew me away on the first listen, but this is incredible! Tracks "Buried with Leeches" and "Volcanic Birth" are my standouts.

Hmm.. I've always found ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ to bit a bit overrated. It's an fine album, but not more than I'd rate a 7/10. I can definitely get behind the first three albums, but they kind of lose me after that.

Slaegt - Beautiful and Damned

God this EP slays. Love the unique, traditional metal approach to a lot of the riffs, and the solos are glorious. This band has kicked ass since their demo, but I can see them becoming a black metal staple with a couple albums under their belts.

I like the raw energy of first three albums (especially Kostogher), but the song writing was very formulaic. By the time he released ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ, he had gotten noticeably better in that department and the album had more variety.
And that Slægt EP is surprisingly different. Beautiful music but i wonder if they'll continue losing their black metal-ness

NP : Arckanum - Þursvitnir (From ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ)

Probably my favorite track from the album

Savatage - Follow Me

Decided to give Edge of Thorns an another try. Honestly, this is the most moving heavy metal song I've heard in a while. The title-song rules too.

Heathen Hoof - Rock Crusader

Also got a new vinyl player working. This record still rules. High energy heavy rock/metal.

Absolutely agree with you there. HoA had the promising demo but the album was a letdown.

Do you mean EP? I like the demo too, but their EP is the best they've done IMO.

PS: GBK demo compilation out next year I hear!

Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky

Really like the pacing changes on "The Pagan Winter" for some reason.

Mastermind "Song for the New World"

This remaster sounds way too static-y. Not sure I want to bother tracking down an original to see if its any better. There's always a chance the original could sound like crap too.

Versailles - Edge of the World

My least favorite Versailles album, but this song is one of their best. It has a different feel than the usual; a lot more groovy.

Which Skepticism album would you recommend? Tried to download Alloy but didn't get to 100% due to crappy resources

Blackfield - Springtime

nice with something simplified once in a while :)

Satan - Court in the Act

Great band, and unbelievably, *not* altogether better than their comeback records. Awesome energy with cool chords to boot.

Suffocation - As Grace Descends

Catchy-as-fuck for Suffocation: I can get why a lot of people hate this but my neck sure appreciated the workout!

Abnormality - Monarch Omega

Saw Abnormality open for Skinless over the weekend and they were quite impressive.

Protokult - The Serpent Voyage (hidden Was wollen wir trinken track at the end)

Was looking at a post about Folkfest earlier today and realised I hadn't given them a listen in a while so decided to pop in Ancestral Anthems. As far as Folkfest, still undecided

Hej Stefan86,

You should try again with "Alloy", I think that its a masterpiece, I am not a fan of the previous albums but this one has some variety which is more than welcome. The last ones is very good too.

Delirion - Lotus

Delirion might be the best unknown power metal band I've come across so far. Most unknown bands suffer from bad production and horrible song writing, but Delirion seems to have their stuff together. It also helps that their vocalist is actually competent.

Hey speaking of unknown power metal bands, you might really like Amadeüs (also from spain). I've been meaning to grab their debut after stumbling across them while ago. Their second album seems to be some soundtrack to some obscure cartoon or whatever, but the songs seemed pretty watered down to me. But the snippets of their first album that I've heard sounded absolutely great to me. I really like Por el río olvidado. The vocalist is incredibly good; and the instruments have a slight prog touch to it.

NP: Dir en grey - Garbage

Nu metal that's actually good? Awesome vocals on this one too.

Triosphere - My Fortress

Really good. Super slick, heavy, technical prog with awesome vocals. Exactly my thing. Xlxlx rec'd these guys to me - about time to check em out.

Not a Slayer cover but sounds a lot like Slayer. Wish more black metal bands would make their thrash influences this overt.
