"Rudiments Of Mutilation" -
Full Of Hell

The Merzbow collaboration is my favourite, but this still kicks ass.

Dehuman Reign - Ascending from Below

Not bad at all, but like narsilianshard said in the worthwhile albums thread, it would have been much better if the vocals were lower in the mix and if the guitars had more oomph.

Jackie Evancho - The Rains of Castamere

This is one of the best renditions of Rains of Castamere that I've heard. It's very dark and haunting - fitting for a song about Tywin Lannister wiping out a noble house.

And Oceans...-Je te connais beau masque

What a beautiful song and cd. Excellent melodic/symphonic black metal from Finland. Another unbeatable debut.

That ...aO album is good for sure. My fave album along Cypher.

Manowar - The Sons of Odin -ep

Far from their best release, but the real songs here are okay. That Odin piece is quite majestic and well-written, but I like the metal version of it in the Gods of War album more.

Be'lakor - Whelm

Just got around to giving their new album a listen. Pretty good so far.

Asphyx- Streams of Ancient Wisdom

So twisting! Thank god Martin recorded his vocals before he knew he was fired. Now that's professionalism.

Axel Rudi Pell - Warrior

Fun rocking power metal. Should have checked this out way earlier.

Destroyer 666 - Artiglio Del Diavolo

I finally got this album in the mail over the last couple weeks and love it even more than when I first listened to the title track! I still liked Defiance but this album is worlds beyond! Great stuff!

Man I was super obsessed with Dans les bras des immortels in the early 2000s, absolutely loved that album. Then one day just forgot about the band. Really need to listen to that album again for old times sake, its been ages!

:np: Gorguts - Obscura

From laughter to irritation to hatred to absolute adoration. My journey with this album has been quite the roller coaster, but now I am completely sold on it. I know what it wants to achieve, it definitely succeeds and I can dig what it achieves completely.

Khonsu - Va Shia

Thank god its almost over. Got this as a freebie and at first wasn't too sure what I thought of it. Occasionally a cool black metal/electronic mix going on, other times the electronic elements go too far for my tastes and not to mention a -core-ish feel that emerges on occasion and kills it for me. But damn this album is like an hour long and for this kind of style really tries my patience. Wanted to give it a fair shot from start to finish but can't see myself listening to this again.

:np: Napalm Death - 'Cursed To Crawl'

Uggh, this song is too catchy and memorable. I keep coming back to it, and that goddamn riff has been stuck in my head for weeks now. :annoyed:

Acid Witch - Partytime

Just received this in the mail today. Generally liking this EP. Favourite cover's been Soldiers of the Night by far though.

Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel- Highball With the Devil

Another excellent album from the reason I'm a musician, even though I consider everything he's done to be excellent. The cover of "The Awakening" here is priceless. "Holy Mackerel" is a sick tune as well. Love the gritty, effect-soaked bass he uses here.

Shin Megami Tensei IV OST - "Challenge Quest Boss Battle"

Pretty metal for something from a video game. Dat intro riff.

Yeah, and Meguro wasn't even involved with that one! The Digital Devil Saga OSTs are my favorites of his:

Also love The Almighty from P4, especially the live version:

"Nær Solen Gar Niþer For Evogher" -
Dawn

I think I like their counterparts Afflicted more. When it comes to Black Metal I'm all for the blistering raw side of it or Agalloch knock offs. Not so much Melodic stuff like this and Dissection.

Dragged into Sunlight - Hatred for Mankind

This vocalist lets loose some crazy screams now and there. One screech near the beginning of the second track sounds like some kind of sci-fi creature from a video game or something. He's like a new-and-improved Lord Worm.

Just discovered these guys yesterday. Pretty solid power metal.

Чёрный Обелиск (Black Obelisk) - 1986-1988

Songs of this album were written between 1986-1988 years but recorded in studio in 1995.
Previously these songs were available only on live albums. Very good album with Anatoly Krupnov on bass/vocals.

Entombed - Left Hand Path

So yeah, I'm a death metal noob, and I've only known this album for a little while. This is fucking ridiculously good.

This album is a classic. You just cannot hate it. It was one of the first albums that got me into death metal, and I've never turned back ever since.

War Master - All Light Devoured

If the quality of this new track is any indication of what the new War Master is gonna sound like, we're looking at a very strong full-length from my favorite death metal barbarians.

@M_O_T yeah I'm really enjoying it. Like, a lot. :headbang: I've also been digging into Vader like you prescribed, and Litany is absolutely awesome. N_S has also been giving me a bunch of death metal albums to listen to, so as of late my eardrums have been getting a pounding. :headbang:

Yeah, one less poser where you live. :P

Malevolent Creation - Retribution

Their first two... Man, those are some awesome ass albums. I like this one more than The Ten Commandments because of the heaviness and lesser thrash metal elements.

Dammnnn, you turned that around on me! That's one of my favorite death metal albums as well, you know, out of all like 5 of the death metal albums I like  :headbang:

Overkill - "Battle"

It has become a joke among my family members and I to try to to our best impression of Bobby's "yea" that he does every other fucking sentence. This song is badass though.

Deafheaven-Language Games

Cool song, the riff at 3:10 is truly great, it has an intense feeling. I enjoy this album a lot(yes, I ignore the shitty lyrics).

Cannibal Corpse - Grotesque

After reading BastardHead's review of Gore Obsessed, I'll always hear "Turtlekill" instead of "Did I kill them?" Great stuff!

Vanhelgd - Temple of Phobos

For me, this is a huge stepdown from the brilliant Relics of Sulphur Salvation. The black metal isn't dark enough, there's barely any death metal left. It's just too single-paced and devoid of aggression. Feels like they've gone for catchiness instead

Yeah, I've successfully grown my balls back and am now listening to death metal all day every day, and even spreading the disease a little  :hail:

:np: Dismember - Like An Everflowing Stream

This is pretty much perfect DM... but is it better than Left Hand Path, Dark Recollections and Where No Life Dwells, or any other old classic Srockholm Swedeath debut?

^ Yes.

Vhol - The Desolate Damned

Weird, thrashy, neoclassical stuff with a bit of a punk edge.

Iron Maiden - Powerslave

Fucking goosebumps still, after some 20 years. Ages High was my startingpoint with Maiden, but then I found out there few even better songs on this album.
