Witch Cross - Axe Dance

WC really outdid themselves on this record, despite their comeback being such a disappointment IMO.

Pyramaze - Age of Chaos/The Birth

First I was laughing at the corny intro. But the main song just makes you want to fall asleep.

...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Metallica- Through The Never

Lars gave an interview saying that if this was written in 1986 or something he'd put more double bass gallop into it. Not sure if I agree with that idea.

Overkill - Walk Through Fire

Man they really played it way too safe with Immortalis. So many of these tracks are throwaways.

Horna - Sanojesi Äärelle

Classic Horna stuff. Corvus really brings the vocal venom on this one and it has some of Shatraug's best melodies.

Ironcross - Fields of Glory/Cross of Iron

Old Finnish heavy metal. Been listening to Bloodhounds and Too Hot to Rock the whole day. Yes, they were quite amateurish. Yes, their singer wasn't so good. Yes, they had silly costumes back in the day. But still they had that something which makes me enjoy their music. This song in particular has punch.

I'm starting up this gem of an album again. Definitely going to be in my top five of this year.

Middle Class Rut - New Low

Modern alt/hard rock that doesn't suck?! Wow. There may still be hope.

Gotham City - See How It Flies

The Unknown is an amazing SHM classic, and this song (and Swords and Chains) are probably my favorites on the record.

If Lars could even pull it off by the time that song came out!

Tsjuder - Desert Northern Hell

Unholy Black Metal assault of apocalyptic proportions! My first exposure to this band was Ghoul and I was absolutely blown away.

Heh, these guys must like Katatonia a lot. For those who like the stuff they did pre Brave Murder Day this is absolutely essential to check.

Vader - "As Heavens Collide..."

The only thing I can think of when hearing this song is an interpretation video I saw of it on YouTube many years back.

BOW DOWN TO NERD.

Believe it or not, hearing a chipmunk version of this got me back into listening to Pantera after quite a few years!

Heed - Ashes

One of the more entertaining modern PM albums in this sort of style...just non stop heavy riffs and kick ass choruses on every song. Awesome.

Blut Aus Nord - The Last Journey of Ringhorn

Timeless and essential for any fan of black metal. Makes me feel like I'm in LOTR.

The DVD that comes with the LP makes it seem that way. They nail all of their songs and they actually play with energy. When did you get to see them?

NP: Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway

I've barely put this down since I got it! The songwriting and musicianship is fantastic. Such a good purchase.

Ancient Vvisdom - Here is the Grave, from Deathlike

This is still one of my favorite albums from 2013. Seems like every time I give it a spin I notice something new that I missed on the previous listens.

Kamlaniye - Kamlaniye

I've been so excited for this release for months, as the material in the live videos on youtube is incredible. This rivals Skagos' best output so far. Near perfect.

Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Defines Us

Slower than I prefer for music at work, but it does have its more aggressive moments. I got it last week and hadn't gotten around to listening to it, so I thought it was time. I like the variety - sometimes doomy or ethereal, sometimes heavy with a little groove.

Edit: on "Divine Act of Lunacy" now and realized I'm going to have to listen to this again when I can just put on headphones and chill out, cause the layers of transcendental riffs just make me want to close my eyes and let the music carry me away..

Edit 2: I also got Swallow the Sun, November's Doom and Alcest, so it's just going to be a mellow day today...
