Gorod - Chronicle From The Stone Age

This album is almost unfair, makes nearly every 21st century techdeath album sound like shit in a blender.

Vader - "Where Angels Weep" from Tibi et Igni

Really enjoying this release. I may actually like this album more than Welcome to the Morbid Reich which I absolutely loved.

Striker - Underground

The new Striker album is superb, as expected. Or, the first track anyway. Looks like the rest of the record is going to follow-suit though, and that's reason to rejoice.

Kanye West - The College Dropout

One of the greatest hip hop albums ever. Kanye is a genius asshole.

Children of Bodom- Follow The Reaper

Gotta love a song with not one, but two lethal thrash breaks!

Flagellant - The Black Void Unfolds

Pretty solid, if a little generic Swedish black metal.

This should speak for itself.

Carnage - Dark Recollections

The guitar tone here is monstrous, and perfect for the violent riffs they played. I often wonder what inspired these kids to create such classics back then

Dreadnot - Inside Mattertrip

This demo is the most amazing fusion of metal (especially tech-thrash) and avant-prog I'm aware of. For 1990/1991, the pinnacle of hyper-progressive metal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7tF8P7DGe8

Just listen to that instrumental break at 3:07, masterfully executed groove

Architects - Gravedigger

Meant to find the actual Gravedigger and stumbled onto this by accident. Not too bad, not a huge fan of this kind of stuff

Klabautamann - Merkur

Haven't listened to this one in a while but thankfully, it hasn't lost its lustre. A lot of musicians come out with a right mess when trying to incorporate other genres into metal, but these guys manage do it here to perfection.

One of those instances where a cover song (and instrumental, at that) is miles better than the original. The flutes fit the melancholic atmosphere so much better.

I did like Kroda at first but then... they dissapeared for me.

Thanks for those!

Forhist from (2014) Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta III - Saturnian Poetry.
First listen and... it feels like a watered down version of (2009) Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II - Dialogue With The Stars?!?

Slugdge - Lettuce Prey

Nice wordplay with the song title and an even radder album. Genre-wise, it's tough to describe them. I'd say modern-sounding death/black metal with prog and sludge-y elements.

Lettuce be cereal shouvince, weak wordplay of peas and carrots right there, bro.

Goatsblood - "Drull" from Drull

Ashamed of myself for having never heard this band before. Very glad this album came in my recent grab bag purchase.

Clockwork - Song VI - A Path Beyond

Interesting UK technical proggy metal. Nice atmosphere. This was just a random find on Bandcamp.

Awesome album, perhaps my favourite, it has something catchy although it was as brutal as usual.

Spi ritual-Pulse

What a great EP, a very original mixture of gothic metal with clean vocals and growls mixed with ethnic music. Too bad that he hasnt released more music with this project. :(

Innsmouth - Consumed By Elder Sign

I am impressed by the degree to which this compels me to headbang. Quite fun to listen to, fairly simple/catchy, nice production. Title track doing is for me right now.

I decided to give that Funerary Pit song a listen! Oh man, it's as brilliant as Crushed said it was. Really digging the artwork too.

Carnivore Diprosopus - Covenant Of Satan Predators

This album must have one of the heaviest guitar tones i've heard in quite some time. And it works to great effects when these guys are slamming.

Nice. Killer release though, (been waiting a while for this) I got me the limited green vinyl version. I would however, like a digital, or cd version to become available soon.

Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall

Amazes me that some people into classic metal don't like King Diamond's voice. What an utterly perfect frontman in every aspect - bombastic, theatrical and evil as fuck.

Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond

Was looking for symphonic and power metal to recommend for a friend. I'm normally nearly 99.99% black/death metal, and couldn't even come up with 5 good bands. So I went to the MA page for Rhapsody of Fire, clicked "Similar Artists" and Blind Guardian came up....can't believe I completely forgot them. Highest rated album was Somewhere Far Beyond, so I looked it up and now I love it.

Arcturus - Radical Cut

I have been listening to Arcturus for many years, but mainly the dazzling and unique debut (La Masquerade Infernale never seemed to grab me however...), with it's pure liquid silver lead work and excellent vocal delivery, and just overall song-craft. It was a gem of it's time, and in many ways still is, but after giving The Sham Mirrors repeating, and richly rewarding, listens, I have to say that this is an absolute masterpiece of an album. The sheer power it exudes in places is staggering - and the towering, deeply involved, intricately woven craftsmanship of each track is... astonishing. This pearl of metallic brilliance will give and give, listen after listen. Pure magic and mayhem.

This is one of my favourite Blind Guardian tracks. In fact, I probably listen to it more than any other song of theirs.

NP: Luca Turilli - Black Dragon

Second run through on this album. It's like Rhapsody with another singer (which is really what it is).

Asphyx - The Krusher

Asphyx are, in theory at least, one of my sure-favorite death metal bands. The reason I keep forgetting to listen to their music regularly remains a mystery. I'd been meaning to listen to Last One On Earth properly again for a few days now, which has finally culminated in... well... listening to it. Splendid stuff.

Northern Oak - Marston Moor

Their new album, Of Roots and Flesh, leaked and this is some really impressive stuff. This album may rank up there with Asmegin's debut when it comes to folk metal.

NP: Blind Guardian - Tanelorn

I was sort of feeling disillusioned with all the music I was listening to for about an hour. Nothing was really 'clicking' for me, and I was starting to wrap myself in more and more layers of musical second-guessing. I figured Blind Guardian would be the cure for that. No surprises here, of course they are!

Kickass song, but after realizing what the lyrics are about I'm kinda torn.

I don't mind his really high pitch vocals but I listen to MF because of the music and the overall vibes I get. I absolutely love Melissa and DBtO but I've not ventured into KD's solo albums. I've always been under the impression that the vocals take more prominence than the music, so I've not touched his albums.

NP: Blood Revolt - Indoctrine

I seem to be on a Alan Nemtheanga trip. IMO, this is his best side project ever.

The solo stuff definitely doesn't have the absolute riff mastery of MF, despite it being very good in its own right.

Gargoyle - Beyond the Raining Cloud

Bit of a "once in a while" band for me but it's hitting the spot...great riffs.

Pain Of Salvation - Road Salt Two

My Japanese version arrived today. Added the two bonus tracks (pretty short, but I'm a superfan... so worth it!) into the rest of the album, along with the two Linoleum EP tracks. The album is wonderfully complete now. Just need my Japanese Road Salt One to arrive, and the Road Salt Experience will be complete.

Myrkur - Myrkur

I love the vocals but the production and song writing could be better, far from horrible though. I can tell this will get overhyped/hated but to me I would give it a 70%
