Full on grind Thursday (empty office, speakers full blast):

Wormrot - Defaced

Mindful Of Pripyat - Shrapnel Rain

Death Toll 80k - Taught To Consume

Only the heaviest grind will suffice!

Goatwhore - Constricting Rage of The Merciless

Super catchy stuff here. The opening riff to Baring Teeth for Revolt is an earworm (in a good way). This to me is rock and roll with a black metal attitude.

Slayer - Haunting the Chapel

Always a good day to return to the classics.

Blind Guardian - Traveler In Time

I own a bunch of BG albums, but somehow not my two favorites, this and Imaginations. Maybe I should fix that.

Slaughterday - Beyond Body, Beyond Life

Missed this one. It's basically juicy OSDM that doesn't automatically reveal its cards in terms of influences, but some Dutch and American masters come to mind. There's quite good sense for creepy melody and songwriting here, though as usual, it's nothing really earth-shattering or fresh.

Eucharist - Mirrorworlds.

I got into this band only one year ago and they're becoming more and more killer for me with each listening.

Grind Thursday continues...

Sayyadina - The Revenge

The Kill - Axe Attack

Stench Of Profit - Regression Index

Sayyadina might be the most underrated grind band ever.

Coroner - Read My Scars

Prime technical thrash metal. The dizzying riffs and swirling guitar solos are a delight to the ears!

No More Color is my favorite Coroner album along with Grin (which had a very different sound, anyway). So much energy and creativity to be found there.

NP:
The Who - Who's Next
Absolutely classic stuff, featuring some of their best songs. And Keith Moon, he was something else.

this sounds kinda like a more raw version of Drudkh, especially in the guitar spectrum. Really nice tone

Lunar Shadow - Gone Astray

This is a really incredible work - best of the year thus far, though to be fair there isn't too much competition. But this is a wonderfully moody, well written trip of Maiden worship mixed with the band's unique gloomy voice.

Tad Morose - Sword of Retribution

This is superb. The whole stretch from Undead to Modus Vivendi with Breed on vocals is amazing. Seriously underrated band.

Pummeling riffage with excellent counterbalance between aggression and melody, top-notch songwriting with catchy hooks and just a fair amount of unpredictability - everything I want in my power metal is to be found here.

Heretoir - The Circle

There's been literally zero mention of this release on the board, which is surprising. I wrote their debut off as a Alcest clone but this new one is much better. Incredible production and much heavier than most post/gazey black metal. A bit too chuggy in some parts, but a solid release nonetheless.

this could officially be the best album I've ever heard

For long form droning death metal like this, I expected a lot of repetition and such, but they actually never really repeat an idea. I dunno if I'd call it progressive, but it certainly is for its style

Witchfinder General - Requiem for Youth

Back to the 80's again tonight, it's just something about the music back then. Really good.
I keep wondering how it was back then :P

Alice In Chains - Alice In Chains

Best album by a grunge band, hands down. A listening experience unlike any other.

one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. The band had so much potential... and then Spencer came

Edguy - Tinnitus Sanctus in the car - one of their most confident moments as a band. Super catchy too.

Sleater Kinney - The Woods - This is an outstanding album, full of raucous noisy rock and poppy syncopation in trade-offs. Best I've heard from them so far.

Children of Bodom- Hate Crew Deathroll.

Awesome track to end a mostly mediocre album. Sounds kind of like latter day Destruction with some neoclassical keyboards thrown in.
