Dog-Mag "Welcome to the Darkside"

The Engrish is strong with this one. Despite that, this is pretty cool power/speed/thrash with some harpy on vocals.

Katatonia – Deadhouse

Discouraged Ones might be repetitive as hell but its still depressing and enjoyable

Fen-Hands of dust

This band truly knows who to combine black metal, atmospheric passages and post-rock with an awesome taste.

Very true. I've not listened to them in a long while, and i'll have to remedy that.

NP : Nocternity - Harps of the Ancient Temples

I just can't get enough of this album.

Arch Enemy - The Immortal

Used to be a massive Angela era fanboy, now i realise the first 3 albums are much better, although Wages of Sin is still great.

Got lots of great riffs and leads

Gamma Ray- From The Ashes

This song should have been a permanent fixture in the War Ensemble spot of Gamma Ray's set. Perfect for getting the crowd amped, and after the end the crowd is even more amped.

Awesome album. I've only listened to it once, but it's enough to convince me to snag the CD soon.

Oh, yeah ...
NP: Mgla - Presence

Have these guys ever made a bad song? I think not. The new album will crush.

Kyuss – Stage III

This is just the outro but the album is amazing. So many memorable songs. Isolation and Love Has Passed Me By being my fav. John Garcia's vocals are fucking awesome

Yes, you should do it hehe. :D

The album cover makes me feel curious about this Greek band so I will check it out.

Zero Nine - Intrigue (the song)

This is truly beautiful, and the video for this is great too, despite what some people say. Had this album on lp already, but my player stopped working, so in the middle of nostalgia I bought this on cd.

Symphony X - Underworld

Addictive, heavy shit - a killer album.

VRAIN "White Storm"

This is a lot more neoclassical, complicated, and spastic than I remembered. Well, the last song on this EP was pretty obvious though - that one was a cacophony and a half.

Twisted Tower Dire - Starshine, off Netherworlds

Maaaaan, it's been a while. This stuff's still sweet though. Just straightforward, no-punches-pulled heavy metal.

The new album is incredible. Amazing songs from start to finish with a crushing guitar tone. I think The Plague Within is their best effort ever.

It's definitely impressive but I really wouldn't go that far. :p

NP: Demolition Hammer - Skull Fracturing Nightmare

Drumwork that sounds like it could create earthquakes, some of the most pissed off vocals I've ever heard and a guitartone so thick I'm sure it's able to crush walls. :headbang:

Thor - Only the Strong

Very solid album, a classic if you will. If Anger, Lightning Strikes Again and Unchained were on this album, it would be like the best of Thor.

Nightbitch - Chainmaker

Excellent Danzig-esque heavy metal goodness from these sleazy chaps. This band is one of my favourite recent bandcamp finds.

"Dreams" by Amsvartner.

Good melodic death metal, lacks experience though.

Sigh - The Casketburner

This makes so much sense to me right now. Absolutely one of the best albums of the year. Experimental is one thing, but this is absolutely something else.

Great album though I cant see any conexion with the pagan stuff. They are fucking amazing on the stage.

Last day at the office before the summer holidays, its time to put some great classics:

Dimmu Borgir-The Mourning Palace

Any day is good to listen to this magnificent album.

Volahn - Dimensiónes Del Trance Kósmico

This shit still rips.
These guys are geniuses with the way they blend that crude black metal with some of the most memorable riffs you'll ever hear.

Power Quest - Temple of Fire

An amazing work for the PM genre, with tons of mood and feeling and great instrumentals and vocals. A perfect album.

^Dude it seems like you and i are the only heavy/power metal fans on this board. Everyone else here is so infatuated with black/death metal.

NP: Counter Attak - Life, Death, and Insanity

USPM at its finest! Soaring vocals, superb guitar work, thumping bass, killer drums. This demo is just one of the many reasons why i love this genre so much.

Panphage/Jarnvidr - Gothalandom

Panphage is easily one of the best currently active black metal bands in Sweden. Totally unique and amazing riffing.

Octaviagrace "Resonant Cinema"

Poppy power/prog with a spastic rhythm section and one of my favorite female guitarists. The bass guitar is pretty dominant on this too (not surprising considering he's the band leader/founder).

Acerus - The Might

Nothing Daniel Corchado does will ever be subpar. Take all the death metal elements of The Chasm and strip them down to furious, pure and true molten heavy metal. Seriously awesome band and can't wait for the new album to be released!

Good electronic power but nothing will top the gem that Antagonist was.

This is some damn good prog rock, sometimes metal-ish, sometimes not.

Sólstafir - Svartir Sandar

Missed these guys performing here in Glasgow last night so I'm having a 'feel sorry for myself for missing the great music by listening to them all evening' kind of experience. Every time I go on the dreaded facebook another one of my mates has uploaded a picture of them with the band. Lucky sods.

The more I listen to this album; the more I realize that it's essentially a love letter to old-school prog metal bands. I really should pick up some more of that stuff one of these days.
