It's funny that you say that. Have you by any chance seen the movie Equilibrium? :)

Yngwie Malmsteen - Liar

I really wish Yngwie could recapture the brilliance he had in his early days.

Nous - Egotheist

I'm currently checking out Avant-garde Death Metal, and am liking what I am hearing so far.

Still on the fence about whether I love or hate that movie, but I know what scene you're talking about. The symphony didn't make me cry, but it was damn close.

Drapsnatt - Skelepht.

These guys know how to incoporate keyboards in Black Metal without turning it into some symphonic crap

Deus Absconditus pt. 1 - Xanthochroid from their debut album, Blessed He With Boils.

Im speechless, I cant express how much I recommend this album. Emperor, Immortal, Opeth, Bathory, Wintersum, Ensiferum, just to name a few bands that come to my mind as I play this record. A complete musical experience through the most variated landscapes.

Fauna - Avifauna

The atmosphere on this album is something else. Despite the lengths of the songs, it's still a very engaging piece of nature influenced Atmospheric Black Metal

Psycroptic - Cruelty Incarnate

The Scepter of the Ancients is such a good album; I just wish the bass was more prominent. As a bassist I find it disheartening that in the majority of death metal bands I listen to the bass is almost nonexistent. They could learn a thing or two from Beyond Creation's The Aura.

Or at least to do the same than Hypocrisy, the bass is always very audible and ripping.

Np: Disma - Chaos Apparition. This is simply CRUSHING.

Netra - Streetlamp Obsession

Self-described as a fusion between trip-hop and black metal. Though it may sound strange, it's done very well. Desolate and melancholic. I highly recommend it to anyone into depressive styles of black metal.

I picture a group of merry Gypsies singing and playing around a fire every time I listen to this song. It's a nice image.

Gorod - Disavow Your God
I usually spin Neurotripsicks or Leading Vision but not the more recent more polished Gorod. This song stands out on the record though.

Pretty much... Just sort of instrumental beats, maybe some samples with an overall emphasis on atmosphere.

I more thought of a mob of Frenchmen waving tricolors, dancing, singing, and drinking as they drag Louis XVI to the guillotine.

God this album is so amazing! spent so many drunken nights with friends singing a lot riff by riff to this album, I really wish Psycroptic had of kept to this style instead of what they are doing now, IMO

It really sounds like shit.

Uriah Heep - Salisbury

This song starts good, but becomes really boring in the middle. What a prog-mammoth. Not there with the Bird of Prey, Rainbow Demon, Come Away Melinda etc. But still quite okay.
