I couldn't believe my ears when a good friend of mine gave me the links to a Kraftwerk bootleg from 1971. There is a song on it called "Heavy Metal Kids" and I have to say, it puts the Black Sabbath recordings of that time to shame (Don't crucify me now, opinions, assholes, etc.). Seriously, listen to this:

Wow! I'm a fan of Kraftwerk's later material and I can't believe I'd never heard of them sounding like this. I don't think this approaches Sabbath but I am pleasantly surprised regardless!

Really addicting track. Definitely gave me the urge now to actually look up some of these guy's early stuff.

The opening bit reminds me way too much of Iron Man.

Clearly, though, I need to track down the first couple of Kraftwerk albums more than I thought I did.

First time listening to them and I like it, sort of. It's like Rammstein if they we're from the 80s and didn't suck.

I've heard it before, but considering it came out on a bootleg makes me think the song title is way after the fact.

Hmm, sounds more like prog-rock than doom to me, or in this case, krautrock.

Early Kraftwerk was krautrock ... which is a subgenre of prog... which is seems you knew.

Check out NEU! also.

The intro kind of dragged on for a bit too long, but other than that, this song is quite awesome! It really does have that significant touch of '70's doom to it. Even though it was more creative than Sabbath on a certain degree, it still doesn't compare to them at all.

This is good stuff, but you must be crazy if you think it's better than Sabbath in '71.

That is a great track, Kraftwerk were a great band anyway, before I heard this.

It's actually fairly similar to this, a track by a recent band called Kling Klang, who ironically were sued by Kraftwerk for using the name of Kraftwerk's studio:

I love the heavy Doom bit that comes in around 1:17. :headbang:

Yeah, maybe 70, but definitely not 71.
