This. Why would you be embarrassed about learning a useful skill from your grandma? It's pretty cool if anything.

Yeah well there is always a collector eager to have Impiety stuff so no wonder, haha. Myself I used that one too as I'm using only official patches, no self-made or bootleg, and this piece has a strict concept so can't be too fussy. Besides, many of these were handed to me by the bands themselves, which makes it extra meaningful to me.

666Emperor666: Not that you asked, but do you really need both Emperor patches? Personally, I think the E monogram is a lot stronger on its own than with the name logo nearby. That's just me, though. I really dig that monogram and with strength (envy) I burn for one of my own.

It's not a patch actually. It's a metal pin. Bad picture I know. The patch and the pin both will stay on the jacket, but thanks for the suggestion.

I got mine from Metal Devastation webshop. I'd definitely recommend them. Fast and reliable!

Warhead is sometimes slow to mail and registered postage is pretty much mandatory (though its cheap).
Also they don't have every single design.
Worth a look before you head elsewhere though.

Just a little followup to praise Metal Devastation. Nice work, you industrious ghouls. The patches arrived within the week and all were really good quality. All were much better than they looked in the picture. Definitely going to buy more from them eventually.

I've posted all my loose patches on Tshirtslayer, already trading my Wintersun and Ghost patches for Nasum and Kyuss, that's like a 150% improvement!

If you guys are interested: http://tshirtslayer.com/patch/unused-patches-part-1

I recently decided to embrace the second wave philosophy and buried my vest deep in the dirty earth for the past two weeks. It doesn't smell great.

Here's a picture from the first exhumation:

Image

The second week it rained pretty much every day and the ink from the backpatch began to bleed significantly. Now it's living in the trunk of my car.

So where I'm from, doing that sort of thing to your jacket will get your ass whooped. That dirt is earned.

That's almost as cool as buying jeans with holes pre-cut in them from American Eagle. So edgy.

Guys, I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but does anyone know how to get dried acrylic paint off a leather jacket without damaging it?
One of the logos I painted is chipping off and now it looks like someone's hairy ass sat on the paint before drying.

Edit: also, why hate on count_venereal so much? he just wants to be like Dead.

Most commonly acetone is quite a suitable solvent for removing acrylic just as thinner products (high alkanes containing solvents). However stay away from any base containing solvents like bleach (sodium hypochlorite or sodium hydroxy) since Keratin (main component of natural leather) is soluble in those solvents. Also make sure first that it is real leather and not a artificial sub type. Best to try a small part on the inside first to look whether or not any damage appears on the leather.
Other good solvents for acrylic are not so easy accessible unless you work in a laboratory or something (Hot dymethyl formamide (DMF))

Thanks for this info. I shall try acetone.

I might as well introduce my vest, it's not perfect, I still want to redo a few of the patches. I have gotten many compliments from both fans and a few band members from bands i have met.

Also I need to figure out how to wash this damn thing without ruining the patches. I could be lazy and just take it to a dry cleaners (Unless they don't do this kind of thing, any advice would be great! lol). I am just scared to put it in the washer.

You're never supposed to machine wash denim, just throw it in the freezer for a couple days to kill the bacteria then clean the dirty spots with a toothbrush.

You forgot to add the .jpg to the urls. Also, can I ask why you have a meme as your backpatch?

On a more serious note, why the germany flags?

Oh and also, where do you guys in general get screen printed metal patches.
I'm looking for cheap screen printed patches for metal bands, especially black/death bands.
Punk and thrash is common, so if its just that don't bother.

I usually buy mine from sites that sell screen printed punk patches. They usually have more extreme stuff like black/death/grind bands. Undergroundwaste.com and punkstuff.com are both good.

I'm starting to hate that specific Bloodbath patch I chose. Anyways, baby vest. It's new, obviously, since I only have 5 patches.. But I have great plans for it. Wasn't supposed to be purple. Attempted to dye it black, but I guess the dye I bought was crap. Oh well. And I'm currently sewing on the Necrophobic patch, hence the safety pins.
Put under a read more since I guess they're kinda large?

There is not really a decent dye mix you can just buy to give a good black for cotton fabrics unfortunately. Especially not the thick denim threads as in most vests. For synthetics it is less difficult to have a better shade of black but still all black is quite difficult to dye or retain after dyeing. Just a bit of a warning for the home dyers

Octobur, I had the exact same problem. I ended up using 4 packets of dye instead of just one. Looks like a very dark blue in the light, but looks black in a venue.

You should just re-dye it but use way more dye than it recommends and soak it for twice as long.

I barely ever post here but I've been following this thread for awhile and it inspired me to make a new vest. I had one in the late-80s but grew out of it; a few of these patches came from that old one. I wanted it to be thorough, to represent my taste fully, so quantity was paramount. I wanted them to be perfectly aligned with no gaps or overlapping but that was impossible, especially towards the top. It's not perfect but about as good my fingers and patience will allow... and, yeah, I know, it's far too new and bright!

I love the Ludicra backpatch. My favourite album from the band too.

A while back I was wondering, what if I used a camo jacket instead of denim/leather as a battle jacket? Will it look good? Turns out it came out pretty decent here.

This is still an on going project though, so it's not done yet. I was thinking of sticking with a black and white color scheme, after seeing military patches. Now I'm contemplating whether should I leave the sleeves at it is or cut it off.
