This band has talent but I wish they'd take themselves even a little bit seriously. I'm not too much into overtly comical thrash anyway, and it also seems to lead to sloppiness in their recordings - they clearly have the ability to be a lot tighter than they are. Every single time I hear a Lich King song I start off thinking, "Oh man this sounds great!" and end up thinking, "Yeah, that was very funny, Weird Al - did you crank that out in an afternoon or what?"

I haven't heard them but after reading the lyrics to Black Metal Sucks, I put it high on my to-do list.

I'm all for comedy thrash so I guess we don't see eye-to-eye here...

Guess not, but that's cool. I always preferred my thrash to be either eeeevil or political. The Slayer/Possessed model, or the "...And Justice For All"/"Peace Sells" model.

Yeah, that was awesome. And I love black metal. But I found it funny that they went on bitching (rightfully) about how cliche it is, then used this stanza.

You know how I know you look like a fool?
Lich King rules
We're the best band and we're super cool
We rule
Straight from the 80's and we're old school
Lich King rules
Running out of rhymes, so wading pool
Thrash is the rule

That's an alright name for a song but Ultra Vomit did it better "From the Dark Depths of Long Eternity I Shall Reign in Chaos on my Bloody Throne of Relegation of the Weak"

With Darth Vader on Bass and Rambo on lead, you've got a winner on your hands.

And Lich King has arrived to conquer the MA forums. Everyone best just bow down now, resistance is futile.

All hail the Lich King!

Can't wait to get my copy in the mail. I can already tell this album will be even better than the first one.

Hey there Chromillusion. Already tangled with some MA fucks back in May or so. Not much of a sense of humor around here from what I've seen, so I didn't hang around.

Who do I have to blow around here to get some reviews up for the album?

Even a bad one. In fact, you don't have the BALLS to give TZO a bad review. I dare you.

The egoist schtick does not work well for you, regardless of your intent. We have a sense of humor, your delivery is just poor.

I like it, good riffs, but the production kills it, I had to turn my volume all the fuck up, and that barely worked.
It's kind of funny, but could be better. Black Metal Sucks is brilliant though.
Of course it's a novelty, but it is entertaining. If it was funnier, I could easily listen to it for a good laugh or three.

I'd write a review, but I don't have the cd yet :(. Even if I did, I don't have the confidence in my music describing skills to actually submit a review. I think there are many people here who could write a better review than myself, so I will leave it to them.

I had a feeling your particular brand of humor wouldn't go over too well here.

I'll take this over a pussified modern production anytime. Thrash guitars are not supposed to be "hevy d00d", they are supposed to be sharp and grainy.

Awesome album. The production slays. Sounds exactly like an album released in the 80's, and the guitar tone is delightfully thin

Um...

Thrash bands had VARYING guitar tones back in the day.

You're wrong. There's no way they're "supposed" to be. Listen to Heathen's Victims album, then Kreator's Coma of Souls, and then listen to shit like Dark Angel. There are varying degrees of guitar tones.

There's a difference between outright shitty production, and a less compressed production. Not all modern production is shit.

That being said, the hippiedrow didn't even say the guitars had to be "hevy dood." You're making an assumption. He said he didn't like the production, and nothing more. He didn't state why.

It's pretty much just the low volume.
It would make it a pain in the ass to listen to on shuffle. The guitars are fine.
