Well, you could try Roots by Sepultura, but I'll warn you now that it sucks a large amount of donkey nuts and has questionable metal content. Perhaps Neurosis might please you.

If you're into black metal, the band Blood of Kingu from Ukraine has a certain tribal feel to it, but in more of a Middle-Eastern/Mesopotamian style.

A guy from Brazil asking if any metal band has ever incorporated tribal elements into their music? How very amusing, in light of the whole Sepultura thing. Of course, there's no one 'tribal' style, since it differs around the world. What we're really talking about is a 'primitive' sound, using simplistic instruments.

Check out Lugubrum, they add some African tribal elements into their sound. Excellent stuff regardless.

Try Lamentu from Sicily if you can find their CD. It's a tribal black metal band. The influences come from the Mediterranean culture and the African one. Go to their page here on MA and the Inch Production link is there if you want to buy the CD.

You could give Necronomicon from Canada a try. Their first album, Pharaoh Of Gods, has more of an Egyptian theme to it (and is my favourite of the two, actually). Their second album, The Sacred Medicines, has more of the tribal sound you're after.

They play death metal, by the way.

There's also Corubo, from brazil .
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=124602

Even the band's name is derived from Korubo, an uncontacted Indian tribe in Brazil. tribal stuff is one of my hobbies so i decided to try this band. I do not like it, but the OP might. Anyways, i think there is a lack of a decent band who fuses tribal music with metal.

Neurosis, although that may be an obvious one.

Check out Yaotl Mictlan. The tribal elements are not constant or anything but they're cool when they do occur.

Vuzem, the first incarnation of Hollenthon from Austria, had some tribal parts, amongst classical ones on the tracks they put on the Austrian Black Metal Syndicate: Norici Obscura Pars compilation.

Obviously, it was Black Metal, and IMO far better than Hollenthon stuff...

Check out Gnosis of Ecuador... they reside in NYC and I've seen them live like two times. They incorporate Inca instruments and extreme metal (death/black metal music.) I know they have a demo, but don't know how to obtain it. They have a shitty website up though with a download of one track. They're on the archives so check em out.
