I haven't listened to their newest, but I was never really able to get into the old stuff. Black/thrash is one of my favorite types of metal but most of the stuff I've heard from Aura Noir comes off sounding very middle of the road, as if the band is bored by the music they are playing. I've been informed by a trustworthy few that "Dreams Like Deserts" would probably suit my tastes, I just haven't got around to tracking down a copy yet.

Aura Noir's last album was fantastic, it's just not really black/thrash any more. It's got a lot in common with Motorhead and Voivod, of all things, with some old Aura Noir flavor on top. I really liked it but it's not much like anything they did before. Actually I think it might be their best one.

'Dreams like Deserts" is great, but it's more Norse black metal sounding than the rest of their stuff. It's a very good application of said sound, though, and has absolutely killer drum and guitar sounds. I think "Black THrash Attack" is the best Aura Noir in the thrashier style, though. I really like everything Czral has been involved with (although I'm not all that big on later Dodheimsgard nowadays), and most of Aura Noir's stuff just really works for me as the riffs and drumming are of maximum callibre. HOwever, I was a little disappointed with "Hades Ride" ... the heart is all there but the tone and execution doesn't feel right somehow. I am not so big on "Deep Tracts of Hell", either, although the song "The Mark" rules.

My favourite band. Heard their gonna begin to play live again, but I'm not sure who's gonna be the live drummer. I read in an interwiev that they wanted Fenriz for the job, but they didn't ask him because they already knew the answer. Too bad, because that would had been awesome.

They are probably one of my favorite metal bands. Merciless and Hades Rise were both amazing albums! Although, you can really tell how much the song writing changed between both albums. I listened to Hades Rise countless times after I bought it... \m/

Excellent band, love everything they've done. Always a pleasure to hear the music, riffs, drumming, the great two pronged vocal attack! Although they have changed in style slightly with each release, they have retained a similar level in the intensity of the delivery throughout. Favourite songs include Black Thrash Attack, Released Damnation, Sulphur Void, Gaping Grave Awaits, Black Metal Jaw, Condor, Mirage (with Fenriz on vocals). Of course they have the black elements but all said and done I think they are one of the best thrash bands out there.

Incredible fucking band. Aura Noir and Celtic Frost are the fucking shit. Anyone who says differently needs to die. Blackened Thrash kicks ass!!!!!

Anyone going to Hellfest? They're going to be there.

I just bought Nocturno Culto's DVD, and with all the Aura Noir appearances, those guys are all pretty cool.

The music, I've been a fan of for awhile. Dreams Like Deserts is badass, every song is awesome.
Black Thrash Attack is really good too. I want to get the new album here soon.

The one thing that irks me a bit about "Black THrash Attack" ..well, it'd be nice to have some solos! They use 'em now though.

I admit that I need to listen to "Hades Ride" some more. I certainly agree with its supporters here that it's more varied and so on than most of the rest of their output, and for sure there's a heavy Voivod influence .. but actually, I think they've always had a bit of that..both Czral and Blasphemer are huge Voivod fans and you can really tell from both their riffing styles.

I need to get this 2008 release that I see mentioned. I didn't know they had a recent release. I enjoyed Black Thrash Attack though. I've been getting back into thrash again lately, so will probably bust it out soon enough.

Aura Noir is a weird band for me. I love almost everything all of the members have done, but this band just doesn't do it for me. I guess I'm not really a black thrash fan anyway. Maybe I'll check out the new album, if it's a bit more varied.

Aura Noir isnt worth listening to

all they have done is water down Black Metal. they do not have the northern heart, forged by a northern way.
