Not black metal (at all), but I love the scream in Amon Amarth's song 'Live For the Kill', after that bit done by Apocalytica. Great scream that.

I love the screaming in Peste Noire's "Phalenes Et Pestilence-Salvatrice Averse". It is so inhuman and spine tingling.

The first two verses of Artificium Sanguis' 'Sin And Death'. Amazing vocal control, as well as some of the most sick vocals I've ever heard. The guy sounds like he's literally assaulting you with his voice.

I know it's black/death, but I love the scream in Dissection's "Where Dead Angels Lie" after the acoustic break.

When Humanity Is Cancer by Anaal Nathrakh. Just listen to Dave Cunt's scream fifty five seconds in, absolutely insane. And while it probably doesn't rank as one of the best screams ever, I love Chris Barnes's scream at the end of Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse. Something about it's placement just makes it sound absolutely mental and amazing. George Fischer's a great vocalist but when he does that song he screams all over the place, which lessens the impact of the one at the end IMO.

The 3-person screamfest at the beginning of Sterbend's Einsamfeit (song #3). It rules and is kinda funny too.

I've blasted that in my truck and rolled down the windows when I came next to a few old people on their cell phones. Good times. :)

Eradication Instincts Defined - Dimmu Borgir. At 1:50 Shagrath does an 18 second long scream, although probably studio edited.

Bloodtide - Marduk. At 4:23 Legion does a very nice scream.

there's plenty out there. Nocturno Culto's vocals always stood out, Maniac on Deathcrush, among dozens and dozens of others.

I do recall in my mind though about 5-6 years back when I first heard Xasthur's Nocturnal Poisoning. The vocals were incredibly haunting and I became hooked without a second thought. Amazing album. Can't say much about his subsequent works over time though.

I always loved Dissection's "Night's Blood" distinctly for the middle part of the song where the song goes into acoustic mode, then the electric guitars comes in, the beat is building up... ah just read these lyrics and you'll get me:

Those who never was born
but whose darkness eternally
devastated the goodness built up through milleniums
No time passed, our victory is eternal
Our scorn, our sileeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeence...

Then it goes into a more upbeat sort of sound with echoing guitars... it seemed real perfect for that moment. That scream always sent chills down my spine while raising the hairs on my body... very emotional sort of scream.

Also, a lot of old school Katatonia has a lot of real great screams to it... yeah, not really black metal, more like a real broad black/doom mix (Dance of December Souls CD) but damn I loved the dudes voice and how much emotion there was in it.

Hells yeah! Ville is one of my favorite vocalists.

Also some of Immortal's songs have a pretty awesome scream/croak. I really like Abbaths "BBBBBBBBLLLLLLLAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa...".

The two ones Mustaine does in the beginning Loved to Deth. The first I just love for just the general sound of it. The second is just awesome voice control.

-Malefic's first scream at the beginning of Cursed Revelations.
-The first scream off Wormphlegm's debut.
-The Scream that opens up Le Mort Joyeux by Peste Noire

I'll post if I think of any more.

Jander's performance in Srrongorth is one of the finest points of that album.

Also, Icare from Gris is becoming one of my favorite vocalists of late. Like a manned up, tortured Neige. Specially at the end of the "Veux-tu danser?" track.

I came here to say this, but I see I've been beaten to it. Definitely the single best moment on that album, and that's saying a lot.

I'm a huge Dissection fan :hail:

I like the high pitched scream towards the end of Black Horizons, by Dissection. It startled me on my first listen, as I was not expecting that.
Excellent, I also enjoy the screams that Varg utilized on the first three Burzum full-lengths, though I used to hate them.

The scream at the beginning of "Fucking Your Ghost in Chains of Ice" is pretty awesome; it slowly rises in pitch, power, and volume....

I wish I had more hands, so I could give more than two thumbs up....

I second the Dissection/Peste Noire claims, those vocals are incredible.

I'll also say that the song Grim Woods, on Walknut's debut album Graveforests and their Shadows has a brutally desperate scream at the 3:33 mark.

Black metal? Megadeth? :D

I would have to say every single line in the Burzum song War. Such a powerful vocal performance.

The screams by Shagrath on "Under Korpens Vinger" (DIMMU BORGIR-For All Tid) and the one by Petet Tagtgren at the beginning of "Volkemord, Der Antigott" (ENTHRONED-The Apocalypse manifesto)....they are truly scary and powerful...

Seconding a lot of the mentions in this thread so far.

The last parts of Woods of Infinity's "Missfostret Tellus".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9T6en1FtUk

The song is pretty much shite, but the screaming just does it for me.

Then we have Quorthon's wailing over the solo in "Call From the Grave"... For some reason I can't come up with any more. Got to get back to my black metal roots again and revitalize my memory. :P
