They are a hard-rock band, not metal.

In AC/DC's defense, I find it extremely interesting that Def Leppard and Motley Crue are in the archives. Though if we were allowed to lobby for a few bands to get put in, I would go with Blue Cheer over them.

I am pretty sure they used to be a heavy metal band before they changed it. Motley Crue are glam/hair, but still, they suck.

Hell's Bells is a song that makes a case on its own over whatever Def Leppard debuted with.

AC/DC are not metal, I can't fathom how anyone could think they are. They're hard rock, and that's all. Their sound is like supercharged blues rock.

I agree with you a five fold but never say never about a possible inclusion on this site. Stranger things have happened. After all, remember the days when they all said DevilDriver would never make it in? It sucks that they did but nonetheless they got in much to everyones dismay.

KISS would be just rock. Had they stuck to their ALIVE type heaviness with later albums, then they might have been warranted as metal I guess. Ace Frehley was the most metal member in that group.

Not shock rock. Alice Cooper was shock because he put on grand guignol type antics with executions of himself etc.

Def Leppard made 2 NWOBHM albums if I remember correctly. It could be just the debut.

Why not add Guns 'N Roses while we're at it.

Guns should only be added if ACDC is added. I second the notion of Blue Cheer being accepted. I'd also like it if Jethro Tull was featured, but that'll never happen.

All this time I thought I was the only Tull fan around here. Anyways, I'd rather have GNR or AC/DC in rather than Anal Cunt.

Fuck yeah. Stand Up is one of my favorite albums of the 70's.

AC/DC are a straight up rock n' roll group, but Rose Tattoo are better - and closer to metal. Buffalo are, in my opinion, what AC/DC would sound like (Except not as good.) if they were metal. KISS are rock n' roll.

GnR, in my opinion, are a metal band - or at least were at some point - Appetite For Destruction comes to mind...

I have an old live Jethro Tull vinyl, and from that I can't say they are metal - just really fucking awesome.

That's just my 2 cents on the whole thing. Although this should probably be in a different section.

I always thought the song Cross Eyed Mary had a sort of cool metal vibe to it. Maiden covered that song btw.

I wouldn't consider Jethro Tull metal at all. And not Guns N' Roses, either.

If you've got a problem about a band being not metal, take it to the Suggestions and Complaints section. I'll tell you this one has been covered hundreds of times.
