What do you think of Raventale? How do you think it compares to Drudkh and other nature influenced black metal bands, or other bands that blend black and doom?

Hows their new album?

Also, can anyone translate or provide the translations of the song titles from their first album? It will be great to have some idea about what these songs are about.

The new album is pretty good, I still think Drudkh is better, but to each his own.

1. Prologue
2. Shredding The Skies With Fire
3. The Forest Stretched Out By The Grey Melancholy*
4. Resinous Blackness Of The Skies
5. Rain's Lullaby
6. On A Crystal Swing {NOT On A Crystal's Wing}

* - or Longing, if you will.

Correct title translations for the second album:
1. By Gritting* Of Pain (Nostalgia)
2. Of Days Long Past {NOT Long Passed Days}
3. Up [Into The Skies] And Beyond The Horizon (Both Like Birds)
4. Sunset Of The Age
5. From The Black Wells Of Time
6. My Silhouette, Leaving** Far Away

* - Gnashing is also possible, though less likely.
** - not sure whether this is correct, the literal meaning is "going away into the distance".

Excellent band. Not quite as good as Drudkh, but then again it's hard to say as they've only released the two albums. The first album is fantastic, extremely emotive and very beautiful in some instances. It's not flawless though. I think the structuring could use a bit more work in some bits, especially on the third song.

I only just listened to the new album for the first time yesterday. I liked it. Quite different from Na Hrustalnyh Kachelyah, as it sounds a lot more doom influenced. Also, the music is extremely Katatonia influenced in parts, so if you're a fan of them you'll probably like it.

Catachtonian, thanks a lot for those translations! Somewhat knowing what the songs are about helps quite a bit in understanding the emotions and ideas that the music is trying to convey.

I might try to write a review for the second album for the review challenge, if I get around to listening to the second album properly soon. I loved the first one, very underrated and deserves more recognition.

These translations truly differ from what are said throughout everywhere, however these seem to make more sense. :P

By the way, I prefer the first album over the second, but they are both really great. Though I say that comparing it to Drudkh is not exactly a valid thing to do, because they really differ in style.
