I've not heard of this band before. Their name sounds morbid, which makes me interested.

All information is wrong. this is not slipknot band slipknot is new metal. The Band Slipknot i not the one people are looking for, this SLIPLNOT looks like shit, you should add the real Slipknot. the nu-metal band (Psychosocial, Wait and Bleed, Duality, etc.) I think that this Slipknot should be removed and the proper Des Monies, Iowa should be put on here, or at least put a number on the end of this one. Also, the band Slipknot, as of now, is not split up. the band is still together, despite theyre loss of Paul Gray about a year ago. they have lots of success right now and have created their own festival which is named knotfest..

True story...
Back in 1990 or so, a local DJ at a college radio station played a few tracks from that Connecticut Slipknot album and I actually dug em; I even recorded a couple tracks off the radio. They were pretty solid metallic crossover thrash with some good heavy riffs. So, for the longest time, whenever I heard of a band called "Slipknot" I always thought of the Connecticut one first. In fact, the first time I heard the Iowa Slipknot I thought, "Either this is a different band, or Slipknot isn't nearly as good as they were back in 1989/1990."

For anyone curious, every sentence in this little meltdown I had is from a real report on the Slipknot page. If you haven't read through Slipknot's reports before, then I highly recommend doing it. They're all quite funny.

Not Limp Bizkit!!

I admit I was prejudiced about anything related to Nu Metal back in the day due to my roots in early 90s Rock/Metal. I gave Slipknot a chance a few years ago and discovered they have a lot of depth. Rocking out to one of the CDs right now.

Okay, now that we're over a week past April Fools Day, can we finally admit that late 80s thrash metal Slipknot is mediocre? I was hoping this ironic joke regarding the two bands died over a decade ago, but apparently not.

Well, as I said above, I actually liked 'em, but I will admit they were probably not in the top tier of bands that were around at that time. Definitely a B-list thrash band, but there were plenty who were worse and/or even more mediocre.

Anthrax used to slip a not in every once in a while.
