I really want to answer this; I feel I should know it. My first though was indeed a Godflesh track called "White Flag" off the Hymns album, but it doesn't really fit the second part of the description. Have a listen anyway:

I'll carry on trawling through my collection of Godflesh clones.

Any further details? I'm assuming the "dun dun"s are chugs on the same note/chord? What kind of tempo? Real drummer or machine?

It's neither of these, unfortunately. To answer most of balbulus's questions, I recreated most of what I remember of it here: http://onlinesequencer.net/31699

And I think a drum machine was used, yes.

Hm, this is close, but it's not this. The song I'm thinking of had a lot more guitar presence, and the guitars made a dead stop and went quiet once the snare hit kicked in.

Edit: Now I'm not even so sure that it was industrial *metal*, per se. It could possibly be a song by early Swans.

Need help finding a band/singer i remember from many years ago but no longer have any songs and can't seem to find them online to buy/download/stream

From an old Last.fm account where i scobbled some songs i had, the band/singer went by the name Days of Yore and had the following songs which i believe were free to download from some site and these or others where also on myspace but a search there doesn't bring them up.

Blind Suicide
Drinking The Ocean
Moon's song
Fatal Collision

Any help finding these songs/the artist would be great.

Hey guys I'm trying to remember what band has a song with an odd voice reciting the last rites speech at the beginning of the song. I had thought it was obituary but I've been through their albums and haven't found it. Thanks for the help in advance.

Are you thinking of Malevolent Creation's "Memorial Arrangements", the intro to the album "The Ten Commandments"?

There's a band I listened to twice, enjoyed thoroughly, and then forgot their name, which sucks as I want to listen to them again. They're a newer band, with only one album out, and they play a kind of slow, avant garde death metal characterized by long songs, disconnected vocals, and a clean guitar tone playing mostly single notes. Their name is structured like this: Something of Something, I think Shadows of Something. If anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone ID the song or songs playing in the background of this video?
The notes and comments don't mention it

Just PM me or answer my question on YouTube, I'm not subscribed to this thread.

It's not Metal, but in the television show 'Scrubs,' JD is locked in a water tower with a familiar ambient track playing in the background.

Can anyone help me to identify it? It seems very familiar. Here it is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGKN1nRq35M

I'm looking for a band that I ran across in these threads somewhere where the singer was female and her vocals were these strange high pitched whining noises. It was extremely obnoxious and I remember there were more live video's than album songs on youtube. Thanks!

Hi guys, im lookig for a band and album.
The problem is, i only remember that between songs are sounds of war; tanks, running, talks, rain. Cd is somewhere between 2011-13 and its the only album released by this band. Genre as i recall melodic death/prog/metalcore.

Could anyone help me with this? I'm trying to find a Black Sabbath tribute album that I saw on a now-closed blog a while ago. The description said it was Dio-era songs being played in the style of the first few Sabbath records. IIRC it was released in Japan (but the bands may not be Japanese) and the cover had a witch's cauldron on it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

EDIT: I found it: Dehumanized Witch: A (Mk 2) Black Sabbath Tribute.

Looking for a early 90's(I think) English(I think) black metal album. Either the band name or the album contained the words "blood" and "Moon". All I can remember was there was samples of horses during war in one of the intros. The album I think was medieval war based.

Hi folks.
A few years ago there was a video up on youtube which has since been taken down of Patrick Walker of 40 watt sun doing a cover of a song by an american singer the lyrics of which had something to do with his wife dying in a car crash or something along those lines. If you could help me id the song that would be great.

This thread looks dead but I'll give it a shot. I'm looking for a song by a raw French black metal band that is not longer active. They released just a few demos (maybe a split or EP too) before splitting up and I believe they were active in the mid/late nineties. I think it was a 3 person band but this is getting sketchier. The song is in English and had lyrics about a castle or king overcoming Christianity. It was around the 5 - 8 minute mark - nothing super short or long. I tried the advanced search options but nothing stood out to me. It had a fantastic riff and I want to listen to it but I can't remember what the song is! Help!

the thread's not dead, btw. feel free to try and respond to other users' queries :)

No, sorry mate, that's not the band. I'm completely sure it's French. Thanks for giving it a shot though! I know it's a tough one. And I would respond to other's requests if I knew the answers!

This song fits all of your criteria. It's a French band. It's raw black metal. They were a 3 piece, I believe. They were active in the mid 1990's and released mainly demos and I think one split. It's in English (albiet broken English) and its about a king overcoming Christianity. The song is a little short of the 5 minute mark, but if this is not the fucking killer-est riff in all of black metal history, it's gotta be pretty dang close. I hope this is what you are looking for but if not, it's still a killer riff.

Nope, that's not it. I know and adore Vlad Tepes, and the band I'm after is way less known than them. I only encountered them once. The band I'm thinking of might show up in the similar artists tab for them, which I hadn't thought to check. Thanks for giving it a shot and the idea!
